  1. I think the more food options the merrier. One thing I would enjoy seeing in VS is for food to consider the bedrock below soils alongside soil grade, temperature or precipitation to predict the availability of wild crops or berries. The reason for why bedrock is important is that it influences pedogenic variables like the availability of specific minerals and soil pH irl. This should play a role in which what naturally could be found at any given place. Even if there are 10 or 30 options for just grains, alongside aesthetic variance this would introduce more realism and options to build with. I think in VS going towards colder climates I mostly get Cloudberries ingame atm. The game references the Samí directly and other berries they consume which are not yet in VS would be for example Bilberries (imagine the model VS uses for Cranberries, but blue colour). Few people live in icy wastes, but the polar region in Scandinavia, Siberia or Canada are more diverse than media typically represents them. While they're not berries this also made me think of roses: rose hips were a common food in human prehistory and roses can grow in harsh cold climate. The tropics are a different beast. They're full of numerous edible plant parts in every category.
  2. At this moment probably the thing I would like to see the most, which would be the least intrusive as a change. It should be more viable to have smooth terrain be farmland and rough terrain without anthropogenic alterations better suited for an alp or a pasture like in real life. In VS with current domestication and de-/spawning mechanics, a pasture requires a fence. However, fences don't look nice on sloped terrain due to the blockyness. This could be improved if fences behaved like poles which are connected like you can visually connect them with support beams already. As fences may serve other uses, like wattle and daub, this may or may not require a new block or block type.

  3. Hey, I was just looking for a mod doing exactly this, changing the aurora temperature. I noticed just how far north VS allows aurora due to that temperature dependency, when the aurora ingame use varying aurora light colours suggesting variable solar activity, which compared to irl would suggest aurora should happen in warmer climates too (compare to irl NASA definitions on aurora range, the mean annual temperature in say Sweden is like 3.5°C, adjusted for pre-industrial would still be above 0°C). So the question I want to pose is if this mod changing aurora temperature is still in development? I checked the mod repository and I haven't seen another mod doing this yet. I could do it myself, but if somebody else is already working on it there'd be no reason for me to start a project.
