My latest project have been this huge window 🙂

Took me two days to make, from start to finish, with almost 7 iron chisels depleted 😅

Did you take Kurrazarh's house design and go from there?

Yes indeed, that's correct! Glad to see more have seen the Vintage Story Guide 😃

So I finally came around to build my new forge, a cementation furnace and designated area for bloomeries and other things related to a forge. Oh, and I also started building my new bakery/general store, but it's not finished yet..

Amazing. I really love the bridge between the houses and the colored windows. May i ask how you created those windows? Is there a mod you use?

No mod, its done with chiseling coloured glass that is in the vanilla game.

That's really cool! How much time does it take you?

How much time does what take? To make the stained glass window? Back when I made that window, I used no mods to make chiseling easier, so I spent a good 5-6 RL hours making that, if not more. A lot was trial and error, redoing parts that didn't look good, testing to see what thickness would look best and then redo almost the entire window again because I made it too thick. It was done during two evenings playing, doing pretty much nothing else than working on that window. Strangely enough, it took a while before I made another one 😅

Damn, now I am not sure if im thrilled or scared to try out chiseling in survival 😂, but honestly WOW, the window especially is just magnificent!

The first few times I opened this thread, I was so impressed by the workmanship that I failed to note your environs. Is that spire near your home andesite, bauxite and limestone??? I'm so jealous.

That bauxite washed out an awful lot!  With such a wonderful treasure trove of rock, I'd be worried that VS done hid something critical 10,000 blocks away - like iron.  Or borax!

There's a bauxite biome just north of where I settled, neighbouring into a limestone area. Granted, the iron deposits are quite some distance away from the base, but I mine in huge quantities when I do, so I don't really care that much for the travel time there and back. This save is from a community server I used to play on, and we have an extensive road and canal network connecting all the bases from waaay up north, down to 60-70k south of my base, so travel is not really that bad. We also had a great number of translocators fixed, to further ease travel time. Was a blast building this base, but I've done little to nothing more on this since we stopped the server back in 2023. Still fire it up now and then to roam around and look at all the stuff we built 😅
