Siger099 Posted April 18, 2025 Report Posted April 18, 2025 I don't know if I am unlucky or just plain stupid. Eventhough I have high readings for Tin, I can't seem to find it in the ground. At the moment I have played for around 10 hours, so I'm really new to the game. I have digged straight down as is recommended and went down to around Y20 trough granite blocks and still can't find any. Help is appreciated!
wildforester Posted April 18, 2025 Report Posted April 18, 2025 Is the ground granite all the way through? Also cassiterite is rare even at ultra high readings, you may have to make branching tunnels to prospect for tin. Use the node search mode to determine if tin is nearby every 8 or so blocks. 3
Thorfinn Posted April 18, 2025 Report Posted April 18, 2025 Its about persistence. Your readings indicate a theoretical 4 in 10000 block incidence. Digging clear to the mantle your node search has only seen a max of about 10,000 blocks. Kind of like wildcat oil drilling. If you hit nothing, move your rig and try again. Its unlikely, but you might be Phillips 66 -- 65 dry holes before striking it rich. 2 1
LadyWYT Posted April 19, 2025 Report Posted April 19, 2025 Looks like there's a Bismuth reading there as well. If you can get a lead on a bismuth vein with the propick's Node Search, then you can combine bismuth with copper and zinc to get a different type of bronze. You'll still need tin bronze for the treasure hunter's quest, but for just basic tech progression any kind of bronze is sufficient.

Yes, granite all the way trough.. man this game is fun but difficult for a new player like me. 10 hours ago, Thorfinn said: Its about persistence. I see, i have to do a lot of digging then! 6 hours ago, LadyWYT said: Looks like there's a Bismuth reading there as well. Siger099 Posted April 19, 2025 Author Report Posted April 19, 2025 So to sum it up, combination of luck and persistance. Should I keep digging down, or is there another way that might work better? Thank you for your suggestions!

It shouldn't take more than 2 vertical shafts doing node search every 8 blocks down to find tin. Forget zinc you have an awesome tin reading already. Just remember you really only need enough tin to make a few pickaxes and a anvil. Once you have iron the misery of bronze is over. Edited April 21, 2025 by Zane Mordien 1
wildforester Posted April 19, 2025 Report Posted April 19, 2025 Bronze is fun, don’t rush. Anyway, I’d go for the tin, it’s better than bismuth bronze in durability and is fewer resources to collect (helps with the math and storage).
