Farrow-1 Posted May 5, 2025 Report Posted May 5, 2025 New player here. I found my first merchant, a luxury trader, and as happenstance would will it, he was willing to buy a few items I had previously gotten from bony soil, specifically rough diamond and rough periot (I was very excited to be able to get my grubby little pixelated fingers on my first rusty gears) But when I tried selling my rightfully grave robbed merchandise, I found myself unable to do so. I tried clicking the icon inside the "Will buy" window, dragging the items into the "Your offer" slot, as well as shift-clicking the items. Before I knew it ten minutes had passed and I was just about to throw my mouse through my screen, frustrated with my own inability to conduct a simple transaction, when I remembered that this website exists precisely for numbwits like me. Anyhow, I'm playing on the current stable release (v1.20.9). Is this a bug or am I truly so stupid as to not understand how the mechanic works? In kind regards Me, myself and I

If the gems you have don't match the quality the trader wants, he won't buy them. My guess is that's what happened here. Edited May 5, 2025 by LadyWYT Welcome to the forums! 1
ifoz Posted May 5, 2025 Report Posted May 5, 2025 What LadyWYT said. Gems have a 'potential' of low, medium or high. The trader will only buy whatever potential gems he is asking for, and bony soil will only ever give you low potential gems. 2
Zane Mordien Posted May 5, 2025 Report Posted May 5, 2025 (edited) Look for the artisan trader, they are more likely IMO to buy the low quality gems. The luxury trader can buy low potential gems, but in my experience they normally want the higher potential gems as Ifoz mentioned. Edited May 5, 2025 by Zane Mordien 1

I didn't even notice they had different qualities. Thank you very much for the advice.

Thank you for the advice, I'll hold onto the gems until I find an artisan then.

Do keep checking back at the Luxury trader too. Their inventory and requests do change regularly. There is a string of text just above the thumbnails that shows how many more days until things switch up.
