I saw somewhere someone say that mobs cant spawn on slabs either upper or lower. Something like that. I can't figure out how to make a slab place in any way but the lower half of a block. How do you place it on the upper half?

While i do think thats a minecraft thing, maybe it works in VS too.

Put a block an top of where you want the slab to be and put it on the bottom side (while you look up at it, so just the reverse from when you put it down on a block) you could also trying to switch from automatic to horizontal build mode (throw the slabs into the crafting-grid, single stack) and aim at the top half of the block next to where you wanna place em.

Following up in 1.20.4.  I cannot figure out how to place a slab in the top half of a voxel space.  I have tried to aim at a block above the space, but that doesn't seem to work.  Can anyone tell me how to do this?  I would like to place the slab where the red x is but no matter what I do it goes to the bottom half.

I'm using the stone path slab.  See in the screenshot I'm not getting a placement mode option.  Is this normal?  Also, I can try to aim for the very top pixel on the side of the block in front of me, and it will still put it on the bottom.

@JessieImproved

I wonder if the code for that one is different, despite it being called a slab maybe it doesn’t have slab behaviors. It might be coded to be a bottom slab always. The normal stone path isn’t a full block - it’s missing the top few voxels on the top. Maybe the stone path slab is similarly a ‘full’ block missing the top half, and since you can’t place a full block halfway up another block, that’s why it can’t be a top slab, because it’s not really a slab. I don’t know anything about the game code, so I might be way off, but that could be what’s going on. If someone else knows, please tell me if I’m wrong.
