Java and Bedrock Minecraft are very close to the same game designed for different platforms. That's not the same as two different games using the same engine. Unreal is a game engine. I don't think anyone would claim every game made on it is the same game. Or are you saying something else? I'm not being sarcastic. I just don't follow. Bedrock is increasingly becoming a game where if you want to do anything cool with it outside of Redstone (which I do not understand and have made an entire YouTube channel off that fact), you have to pay for it. I was one of the last players to get Bedrock for free before that promotion went away and I did not even have Windows 10 at the time. I do not want to see Anego Studios go the same route. I understand creators have to be compensated, but still. I am largely taking a break from MC because of that. 2

I don't know what you see that makes Glint look at all similar, though. There's no evidence of Microsoft's nickel-and-dime behavior in Vintage Story. Vintage Story is still a single purchase with free updates, and the only ongoing offerings I know of that Anego offers is server hosting. They were originally leaning toward releasing Glint as a Vintage Story game mode, and Tyron said that if it was spun off into its own game, VS players who initially had access to it as a game mode would get the separate game for free. Now they've already decided to spin it off, so I don't know that this applies. But apparently their one-purchase-once approach to Vintage Story has done quite well, and Tyron is proud of it. 1
BMiBudzYT Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 (edited) its done so well the only way i heard of this game was through paulsaures LOL, no one streams it either... most good games are being watched atm Edited October 13, 2025 by BMiBudzYT

If Tyron is proud of it then it's good enough for me! I've found him to be most reasonable.... as evidenced in my communications with him in this thread. XD 2

FairyKairi Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 @BMiBudzYT, no one streams it you say? I must correct you there. If GeminiTay had not started streaming it back in May, I would not be here today. I have since seen others, but their names elude me at the moment. 1

FairyKairi Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 Okay, you and I have different outlooks on the situation. You seem, from what I have read, to believe that any game that does not have THOUSANDS of daily streamers/viewers is a dead game on Twitch/YouTube. Whereas I, and it looks like many others in this thread, believe that ANY AT ALL means Vintage Story is worth something to the individuals who play/watch the game. Blame my autism if you want, but I DID NOT originally post on this thread to argue with anyone. I am out before I say anything to get ME in trouble. 1

Okay, this is the last thing I will post on this thread: THAT was my way of saying to look up something BEFORE you claim it as true. You said that "no one streams this game" and when I correct you, you laugh at me. Who are you to say that a streamer is not a good one if YOU DO NOT WATCH SAID STREAMER? I know that no one can watch every stream that exists, but newsflash: Just because a streamer does not get many viewers NOW does not mean they are not a good streamer. Streaming works similarly to how YouTube works...it can take YEARS for someone to get recognized. I have streamer friends who can attest to that. Also, you suggested that VS adds something similar to Redstone to the game...I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Mojang/Microsoft has that COPYRIGHTED. Anything Anego adds along those lines would likely lead to a lawsuit that AS would likely not be able to win. They are already towing the line as it is. With that, I make my leave of this thread. 1 1 1
radfast Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 BMiBudzYT has been restricted from further posting, due to repeated violations of community standards, and a previous warning a week ago. Community standards require that the discussion is kept civil. Name-calling and personal attacks should form no part of civil discussion. I have removed what seemed to me the most offending and unnecessary posts, while retaining some of the posts to keep the overall flavor of the thread. We do not censor valid debate about the Vintage Story game and its future direction. It's okay to have different opinions and express them, and it's okay to write that some parts of the game currently are not what the individual poster expected or wanted. If anyone is significantly offended or upset by a post which remains, please do use the reporting system to report it and we can review again. Congratulations to all who helped to keep the discussion civil and on-topic. In general if this ever gets so heated again, I would suggest simply do not respond at all to individuals who seem like they are trying to be inflammatory. (And the Report button will get team attention, although it may take us a few hours to get to it) 10 2 2 2
radfast Posted October 13, 2025 Report Posted October 13, 2025 Regarding the future direction of the game, really it's all very well set out in the Development update. We are actively looking at adding some new mechanical power components to give players more options and scope for creativity and interaction, while staying in keeping with our mediaeval themes and our own rich lore. Personally I find any new mechanical power contraption exciting. We are actively looking at adding rivers, it's surprisingly complex to do them well and realistically in our style of world-map. The game is designed to be easily moddable with a comprehensive modding API and build-in mod manager and mod database and other modder support. The amazing mods people have made form an important part of the game's full potential. We certainly do not see any mod as a criticism of the base game - the opposite, really. 6

A friend of mine and I were discussing maybe allowing Seraphs to do something with some sort of special magic flowing fluid. It could be used as: Hydraulic Fluid (to actuate doors) Convenient Fuel (to power mechanicals crafted by the clockmaker?) Light source With steam power coming, if we can build complex piping systems, perhaps there is room for seraphs to do something like this with the proper know-how and materials? I was thinking you could probably toss some basic wiring/tubing onto that pile in order to allow players to build basic door control switches and whatnot. Some handy little gizmos and gadgets, or perhaps some grander contraptions, but nothing fully automatic or overly complex like what can be done with redstone. By that I mean the player will always need to be providing some sort of input to the machines in question, much like they do already with the helve hammer. Edited October 13, 2025 by LadyWYT 1

I've wondered (but never tested) whether a chute can put a bloom on the anvil then placing hoppers around the anvil would more fully automate smithing iron ingots (or steel ones for that matter). Might have to finally test this theory. When I get some time. Next year.
