Facethief Posted December 13, 2025 Report Posted December 13, 2025 So that’s how you’re supposed to use dry stone. Or at least it looks good. 2
Rhyagelle Posted December 13, 2025 Report Posted December 13, 2025 Just another day with Vintage Story's amazing developers. THANK YOU!

Professor Dragon Posted December 14, 2025 Report Posted December 14, 2025 TIP I have changed my "Saves" data location off from the default, so that Vintage Story is on its own drive with enough space. This is done with a Shortcut which uses the "-dataPath" command. D:\Vintage_Story\Vintage_Story\Vintagestory.exe --dataPath D:\Vintage_Story_Data When v1.21.6 came out, I chose the automatic update option available from the top left of the screen. This applied the update, and asked for my login details again. At this point though, the game does NOT know about the Shortcut used for the datapath. So it throws a message like this when you go to look at your Single Player worlds: MESSAGE "Your Worlds No Worlds found" Clicking on the "Open Saves Folder" will show the default Saves location: C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData\Saves SOLUTION No need to change anything. Just "Quit" at this point and launch the game again using your default shortcut. (I have a feeling that there is a better way of handling this path information.) Thanks for the updates. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to taking an Elk through a Translocator and launching my next boat soon. Professor Dragon 3
Aurailen Posted December 27, 2025 Report Posted December 27, 2025 Friend wants to finally begin Vintage Story.. Do we play with this patch nonstop until we burn out or wait until the fishing and tempering update? Such a pickle..

Just my two cents, but I would go ahead and introduce your friend now, rather than wait. You'll both have plenty of fun, and your friend will learn a lot about the game as well. Then when 1.22 launches you can both jump right into a new world and have even more fun playing around with the new stuff, while avoiding mistakes you made in the old and otherwise adjusting your world settings as needed. 5

Beginners usually don't get far anyway at first so it's better now to just have fun and learn the mechanics; once the 1.22 stable drops you'll have far more experience to tackle on bigger projects and get into the meat and potatoes of the game. From my experience (playing since 1.14.10), even if the 1.22 initial update dropped today it would likely be about 6 weeks before the first unstable RCs start dropping. The first stable release would be a few weeks after the first unstable RC. All told, we're realistically about 3 months from a stable 1.22 update. As others have said, start now. 3
