Silrana Posted Wednesday at 02:35 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:35 PM Okay, I know that my fat says it rots in two days and I need to do something about that right away. Is there anything else that I need to set right before I go any further into my current game? 1

Is there anything else that I need to set right before I go any further into my current game? Truthfully, I have no idea, outside of a couple things to check. The fat is pretty easy to take care of, since all you have to do is cook it in a cookpot. If you have gardens, berry bushes, and apiaries that aren't fenced, you'll want to do so to prevent animals from helping themselves. Depending on what you have going for machinery, you may want to check that as well, and switch it to a more realistic setup if you're running "eldritch windmills". I don't think the friction mechanic has yet been added to the game, but you also don't want to be caught off guard by things catching fire if machines are set up to run faster than they realistically should.
Jacsmac Posted Wednesday at 04:11 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:11 PM Consider making one of the metal tongs and a set of bellows for your forge. Charcoal will only heat a workpiece up to 750 without bellows and wooden tongs now break quickly. 1
cjc813 Posted Wednesday at 04:13 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:13 PM (edited) The opening is still pretty standard. Shelter, farming, and pottery. If you see a bear, try to snag his ass and wax the hide. The pelt is useful for a crude bellows. For regular bellows, you'll need leather and nails. You can smith up thru iron without bellows, but it definitely makes it easier to have one. When planning your windmills, you'll probably want each rotor 30 blocks apart. I've heard conflicting distances, so don't quote me on that part, but rotors do need to be spaced out now or they suffer a 50% penalty. Edit: I just realized you're probably not talking about starting a new world. Leaving this anyway in case it helps anyone else. Edited Wednesday at 04:16 PM by cjc813
Silrana Posted Wednesday at 04:15 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 04:15 PM I've deliberately delayed getting into a lot of those things to prevent problems when I downloaded the new issue. It gave me time to build up stuff like resin, and I've done a ton of exploring. Can you say 10k travel? I found a chalk desert, a huge ruin made of bauxite, an underwater cave with iron ore, and a large hill that had a meteor slam into the side of it. This morning I've been running around, but I haven't found any of the new mushrooms, flowers, berries, etc. I'm assuming they'll show up in their own good time.

That right there is what makes the game great, finding cool stuff in a very pretty enviroment

Considering the unique re-spawning mechanics of mushrooms I am not 100% sure, but generally speaking, having vastly explored is a disadvantage for you here as all the new world generation stuff (new structures, new rock strata, new terrain, new berry bushes and plants) only spawn in newly generated terrain, so you will have to walk further out than those 10k blocks you already explored. EDIT: Well, or you could always world edit re-generated terrain outside of a save radius from your home... Edited Thursday at 07:50 AM by Rainbow Fresh
Silrana Posted 10 hours ago Author Report Posted 10 hours ago I don't think my exploring will be a problem since the 10k is only in one direction. I decided to start in the warm zone for a change, and I made some forays south to see things I hadn't before. I'd never been far enough to find termite mounds, cacti, and all that biome. So there is still lots of black map to run around in.
