  1. Yes, if you change the world gen settings it will load any new chunk per the new world gen you selected. The wiki is wrong when it says "Available only during world create stage." World generation The configs world climate, world size and polar-equator distance can only be set during world creation. /worldconfig worldClimate [realistic|patchy] Sets the climate of the world (default: realistic). Available only during world create stage. No idea if this is true. /worldconfig landcover [0.1-1] Sets the amount of the world that will be covered in land (default: 1)* Available only during world create stage.(not True) /worldconfig oceanscale [0.1-4] (Labeled in game's world customization menu as 'Landcover scale'.) Sets the amount of the world that will be covered in ocean (default: 1)* Available only during world create stage.(not True) /worldconfig upheavelCommonness [0-1] Sets the percentage chance that there will be upheaval in the land (default: 0.3)* Available only during world create stage. (not True) /worldconfig geologicActivity [0-0.4] Sets (only during world create stage) the percentage chance that there will be geological activity in the world generation (default: 0.05). Affects hot springs and lava. /worldconfig landformScale [0.5-1.5] Sets the percentage variation of various landforms, making them larger or smaller during generation (default: 1.0)* Available only during world create stage. (not True) /worldconfig worldEdge [blocked|traversable] Whether you can fall off the world edge (default: traversable) /worldconfig globalTemperature [0-5] Sets the global temperature multiplier for world generation. Does not affect already generated chunks. Useful values are between 0.1 and 5, where 0.1 is super cold, and 5 is super hot. (default: 1) /worldconfig globalPrecipitation [0-5] Sets the global rainfall multiplier for world generation. Does not affect already generated chunks. Useful values are between 0.1 and 5, where 0.1 is super dry and 5 is super wet (default: 1) /worldconfig globalForestation [-1 .. 1] Sets the global forestation offset for world generation. -1 means there will be no forests, 1 means there will be only forests, the value 0 means default forestation density (default: 0) /worldconfig surfaceCopperDeposits [0-5] Set chance of surface copper spawning for each chunk column (default: 0.12[2]) /worldconfig surfaceTinDeposits [0-5] Set chance of surface tin spawning for each chunk column (default: 0.007[3])
  2. World gen you can add. It just modifies new generated chunks only so you get a janky place where the new world gen starts. I do it all the time.
  3. Nah don't feel slow. There is no rush. I live in a cobblestone shack. Small upgrade from dirt. Have fun with the archives it's beautiful. Don't over armor yourself.
  4. Amen this should be standard.
  5. I've done it multi-player and alone. I didn't notice a difference myself. My 9 yr old just made it harder to be honest. He just consumed resources. Although the knockback has been ramped up a little crazy IMO which made the fight harder. I feel like 1.20 they were chasing after making it harder in general. I feel like you just got really unlucky using plate and not being able to heal yourself. Converse to your experience I had a harder time with the bell workshop. I used more healing in the 1.20 version of the boss fight. Anyway good luck. You should make a new world and skip to the archive with a new set up and try it again. If you are into that type of thing. I'm going to try boss 2 one more time then that is my plan just to try some different tactics without spending 100 hrs to get there again. Cheating? Maybe, but after 2 times the normal way I just need to speed up the process before I pull the last of my hair out.
  6. Shouldn't be hard to fix. MMOGs you can attack the same creature in raids. I was feeling that pain when I was fighting the 2nd boss. There is such limited time to attack it that we end up attacking at the same time and it just took forever. I'm sure we were doing something wrong but that's just how we were doing the fight. The guy is frustrated. There is no need to antagonize them. Sometimes you just try the wrong strategy and you get stuck in a rut. I agree. I've tried the alcohol bandages one time and yeah, never again. Waste of time. You're already using the same amount of linen as the honey sulfur poultice. And the linen is the only thing of value in that recipe. You can buy 4 liters of honey from the AG trader for 1-2 gears and that makes 64 poultices if you are unlucky with bees. That just leaves sulfur which you can find or buy from the commodities trader for not quite as cheap.
  7. I can get to iron late spring/early summer. Do the Resonance Archives late summer. Steel I don't prioritize at all typically. I make one batch to say I did it. Unless I find chromite by accident then it goes to the top of the list. All of my tools are typically meteoric iron just to save time/resources. The new story points I will probably do right after the RA or maybe I'll chill and do them after winter. I haven't done them yet starting from a new playthrough. My goal first armor is blackguard armor if the TH trader cooperates and has it for sale. If not then iron chain.
  8. So I started to travel and my water coverage is awful. Using the same seed I created this map with no mods, but still using 0% upheaval. That might be my new favorite change to default settings. My next playthrough I think I'll try these settings and hopefully it will have oceans and enough land to have ponds. This one looks like it has both and the red X is the spawn point. "landcover": "0.7", "oceanscale": "1.25", (Anything more than this and I just had nothing but islands) "upheavelCommonness": "0", "landformScale": "1.2",
  9. I'm just ignoring caves for the most part now. There is really nothing of value to justify the risk. Don't get me wrong, I will still stick my head in the first little bit to see if there is an easy ruin, but once I get past surface level mobs I just go back up. What loot does a shiver drop? Outside of the double headed the rest of the stuff is just there to annoy you IMO. I've personally started the lame task of building a fighting area because I have had the worst luck getting a temporal gear in my current playthrough. I've started adding fences to keep them from running around so much, so add some fences if you want to catch them.
  10. Steel or any player made plate is a deathtrap in my opinion, which excludes the blackguard and forlorn armor sets since they let you heal. With player made plate armor you can't heal and he does enough damage as you noted to kill you over and over. Don't mistake this for judgement, because the 2nd boss fight I was pulling my hair out and dying over and over. I cheated and turned this off for the second boss fight after beating my head on the wall for a long time and I feel like it had few HPs after that. I couldn't dent the stupid things HPs with this turned on. Is it me or does VS still not let multiple people hurt the same mob at one time still? I know that used to be a thing but wasn't sure if it was still a restriction. I've really got to find some videos on how other people fought that thing.
  11. I could be wrong, I was hoping someone who reads the code would say if that was true or not. Regardless, I play blackguard 90% of the time and I have no problem getting resin. Once I kill all the bears and wolves guarding the trees that is.
  12. There is defiantly a learning curve on finding resources. Trust me Clay, peat and reeds are always nearby if you use default start. It's just hard to recognize the first time you play.
  13. I loose resin sometimes as a blackguard. It just doesn't harvest. Nothing like 25% though.
  14. I went back the next night and it was less buggy and I was able to finish it. I was falling through a block you are supposed to use. I don't want to say what it was to avoid spoilers but it was glitching and dropping me instead of letting me sit on it.
  15. I haven't even thought about the butterflies. That has to be quite the challenge. Lots of travel and luck.
  16. Ah okay, you mentioned the handbook and I thought it was in the game already. This is something they haven't implemented fully I take it. I know I'm linen rich when I start using it to make torches!
  17. Might as well add the Steel Anvil on there if you have the Jonas Devices. All of the new hardened leather stuff.
  18. Crude and cloth, what? You had me going for a minute. I had to log in to check if there were new torches I somehow missed.
  19. The parkour I got through. It was just extremely buggy. The falling I'm talking about was through solid objects and not parkour. Was it as buggy for you/everyone else or working as intended? Was it a multiplayer issue and it's not a problem in single player?
  20. Did anyone else find the new location very buggy? This may sound weird but I'm trying to say this without giving away spoilers. First it didn't load in right, but I didn't know that since I had no idea what it looked like. I had to go find spoilers on the internet to even understand that it wasn't loading right. I was doing it multiplayer with my son and we both died multiple times falling through the solid objects. It glitched out when you tried to "sit" on it and you fell to your death. All of my items were deleted because I switched while I was falling and died and apparently the game didn't know how to handle that. Seems like that would be a pretty common occurrence with that encounter. Overall. Wow, I love doing the RA. It was a blast the first time and it's still fun. This thing, I would never do again. If I do another playthrough through, this story chapter I'm going into creative mode, flying where needed, and killing everything I need to kill just to skip past it.
  21. I had the worst luck on my first playthrough with the Treasure Hunter trader. I think I was up to about 25 traders before I found it. The one I found was 5k from spawn.
  22. Only thing that grows on snowball earth are pine and larch trees and birch bushes. I tried to buy oak seeds and grow the tree in a full size green house but didn't have any luck. It worked in a test world fast-forwarding time, but not in my normal game. Although one thought I just had today, does being underground affect tree growth the same way it does farming?
  23. 100% agree. It doesn't need to be more grindy. People have enough of a time finding bronze already. Especially if they watch videos on how to find cassiterite. Some of those tutorials lead you down a painful and unnecessarily long path.
  24. I actually use scale over plate now just because I can heal myself in scale. With all 3 pieces of plate your healing effectiveness is trash. My son and I did the Resonance archives with him in plate and me in scale. He died because he couldn't heal himself in the major fight. Tier 3 armor is overkill for the RA, but if you can't heal you can still die in the fight. I agree that the low level armors are mostly ignorable in regular game play, but if you do some type of challenging world you might actually use them. I like doing the snowball earth - hot start and you have to use the lower tier armors because you cannot get leather. I think it's not a big sin to ignore them in standard game play. I'm not touching the temporal storm topic anymore.
  25. One small caveat/warning. If you dig even a 1x1 side shaft from your vertical shaft. Fill it up with dirt. I had a saw blade locust spawn in a 1x1 side shaft of my vertical shaft once. The odds are very very low but it does happen.
