Yeah by the time you can make terra preta, you don't need it in base game. I don't turn my nose up if I find it but that's extremely rare.

I'm not a fan of the inventory management game with large and small items. It would look better as a backpack and 3 backpack attachments that expand it's inventory space. This game does not need a weight system. That would suck the fun out for the castle builders, which is a sizable part of the player base it seems to me. If they did, they would need to revamp when you get pack animals to make it more reasonable. Hey, maybe then they could make a Jonas Pack animal linking device so you could pull inventory from the pack animal within 100 blocks and finally there would be a use for Jonas tech.

Rifts are random, so anywhere is the same. Now if it is temporally unstable near the lake and you can't build your base there, then yes that is a pain for trying to find the perfect place for your base. For me there are no shortage of interesting places to build so I don't have this issue, but I understand why it can be frustrating if you have a place in mind.

I still don't think they will ever let you "wear" a container on your back. Strapping a chest to your back along with 4 backpacks doens't make sense. Even the 4 backpacks makes little sense. Moving a container around in your hands, I can see as something they would implement because it just lets you move things around your base. Longer distance would be too cumbersome. I've been wrong before though.

@regex The easier option is just to go into creative mode. Open inventory and give youreself a temporal gear. They are 100% boring after the first WTF moment. The mentioned Jonas parts are worthless unless you are just a completionist. They can make some cool stuff, but by the time you can make it, it isn't that useful anymore. I'm holding out hope that they will find a way to make them more interesting one day.

Question about the spawn locations during temporal storms...
Zane Mordien replied to Broccoli Clock's topic in Questions
Im deeply insulted !!! The bowtorn just requires 3 blocks tall? I have yet to get one indoors myself. Pre 1.20 storms spawned alot indoors IMO since the drifters were the only storm spawn and they require only 2 blocks or 1 for the crawler. -
Question about the spawn locations during temporal storms...
Zane Mordien replied to Broccoli Clock's topic in Questions
It's been that way since 1.18 when I started. I've had them spawn in small well lighted rooms multiple times over my good knows how many temporal storms. If you are 1000s of hours in and never had it happened you are lucky. All the threads I've ever read say that light has no affect and there is no safe radius. I've read multiple posts debunking the safe radius idea in storms. Shivers and Bowtorns require larger spawning areas so you don't see them in a small room like yours, but drifters very much can spawn in a well lighted area. Unless that's something that has changed. @LadyWYT@Thorfinn -
This is definitely the other end of the spectrum. I would mod it out and not even try it. Carrying 4 baskets is silly, but I feel thats more of a mechanic where they want you to gather resources, so they make it 4 instead of one basket or one backpack.

Question about the spawn locations during temporal storms...
Zane Mordien replied to Broccoli Clock's topic in Questions
Light has no affect during a storm. Proximity is a myth from my experience. They will spawn right in top of you in a storm. Nerd poles will only be safe until nerfed by flying temporal storm mobs. Which will come one day IMO. -
Players can only join server in first five minutes
Zane Mordien replied to Lanner83's topic in Discussion
I've seen this same thread multiple times, but I've never really heard a definative answer on what causes it. Are you running this server yourself or a server hosting service? -
Question about the spawn locations during temporal storms...
Zane Mordien replied to Broccoli Clock's topic in Questions
The intention is for their to be no safe place in a storm. -
@Crabble Yeah, but salt is also just optional. You don't need it to progress through the story or make better gear at all. I treat it as a "nice to have", but I don't loose sleep if I can't find it.
-
I would agree, except we 'return' from the "beyond" with our clothes.
-
But we are not human. As a sereph I choose to believe we are fast runners. I've never played homo sapiens so there it makes sense for them to outrun and eat you.
-
Oh for my unpopular opinion. 1. Inventory is fine the way it is. You are already wearing 4 baskets/backpacks.. a chest then attached onto your back makes no sense. 2. Wolf Pups should be killed on sight. I've watched so many streamers gush over how cute they are. Meanwhile I'm bashing their heads in with whatever I can find. I'll think of more later!

This one has always bothered me, but I also almost never use oil lamps. I like the idea, but then again how does a candle burn inside a sealed container? What light source can you take underwater. Maybe stuff a bunch of the glowing "worms" from the caves into a lantern?
-
One Bear? That's insane! I spawned into my last two playthroughs to the roar of the bear trying to kill me.
-
No problem, since there is no shortage of bears to kill!
-
I just wanted to say it. I hate the bears but at least now after I kill them I can make something useful early game instead of just making pelts I don't need. This has been one of my favorite additions to the game since I started playing in 1.18. Thank you devs! Now if you could just give me something useful from a bowtorn...

@TheHound555 If you haven't done it already.. Turn off the music and then walk through a forest (avoiding the bears and wolves of course). The music to me makes it nearly impossible to hear the bees. Everything is sort of hard the first time in VS. Like people said above I found my first bees 3k blocks from my base. I came back to the exact same save file 1 year later and I found bees 100 blocks from my base in a patch of forest I ran through a 1000 times.

@dakko thanks, I meant to come back and post the file names. I'm pretty sure it is the clientsettings.

Wouldn't surprise me though if there was a cult of humans that worshiped Dave that we had to deal with in our travels through the story.
