  1. kinda looks like what happens when the world gen attempts to build near world height, trees, mountains all end up decapitated, not going over the limit of world height. also, if not already tried, i'd fire up the client with no mods and see of the map changes as a test
  2. Mr Maelstrom, thanks for quoting, I admire your posts in this forum mods packaged with the game install are 'official'. 'we' all play the game with those. and mods like AccessibilityTweaks are key for indivduals that have certain difficulties. (and should be part of the base game). so yeah, I get it. the point is/was, (i'm sure you got?), is when comparing someones chiseling done in vanilla as compared to another's chiseling done with QP's Chisel Tools (great mod btw), its not the same effort all things equal. perhaps cheaty really only occurs when an individual misrepresents effort as being done without using a mod, when in reality a mod was used... (are performance enhancement drugs cheaty, if the user clearly states a chemical was used?)

  4. all the mods are cheaty if they aren't built into vanilla, then its not the vanilla challenge (stating the obvious?) the issue can occur when plays/accomplishments are compared or appreciated? its not a level playing field and the effort is different or unequal? I do run mods. think the count is maybe 20 and they are all QoL (to me)
  5. welcome to the forum @Christian Lewis I'm thinking two separate issues.. its possible to build a base that straddles a temporal unstable area. In a recent map, the base I made, one side of the build was very slowly unstable, could hardly notice until I went afk and came back to zero player stability (shocked). while afk'n on the other side of the build was just fine stability wise. so this may need your further investigation? the 2nd issue has to do with rifts that form from the 'weather' of rifts. under the 'c' menu (easier to see with certain mod huds), at any point in time the player can see what the rift level is at that time. the best defense to preventing the outcome of bad weather rifts mostly early game has much to do with lighting. think spamming torchs. spaced ruffly 10 spaces apart maybe. also, once a rift has appeared, they don't go away with torches, a need to wander off to unload the chunk is needed. upon returning, the lighted area should hold down the rifts... hope this is usable help, and not too much spoiler eh?
  6. nice demonstration of the wrench? would an F menu allowing more precise turning be helpful? in the past, i've had break whole sections to then build in an order that would allow the desired orientation.... the limit of the wrench?
  7. fair enough, so then, this thread counts at least 1 vote to add the QoL feature. got it. (and feel the pain in its absence) otoh, while waiting for the maybe addition to the vanilla game, there are mods...

I was at a loss to label the crude door correctly, and now has been solved, thank you. and... should be called a crude full height gate as it doesn't count towards making an official room as to damage pts taken, due to its full height, .5 (didn't try, can crude doors be reinforced?) ...
  9. Have you check the mod Improved Handbook Recipes there is a feature if all the required bits are in the player inventory, to single click the bits over to the crafting grid

  12. can't say enough about the magic of fences got the fence that surrounds the perimeter of main dwelling (and other dwellings frequently used). fences on both sides of the worn pathways used. strategic fencing at the edge of known spawning spots (forest).

  15. wanted to set up a public terminus and this command '/land claim allowuseeveryone true' was helpful at the same time i also granted all privilege to certain players (so issued 2+ commands before the save command) to allow building/improving the structure... ref: wiki

  17. I'm looking for a question mark (?) and not seeing one? what is 'condemn'? leaking kidney? sounds like the game is working as intended with some things, and not with other things?
  18. welcome to the forum @IyakaHen in similar fashion, I too have wondered why Metal Scraps can't be smelted/grinded into usable ingots looking at the the wiki info on smelting temps, iron has a higher smelting temp than meteoric, so a different academical property that prevents door creation (but still allows armor and tool fashioning lol )?

  20. feel like its intended behavior for the elk to agro on the player that hits it. having endured such agro, i've hold off dismounting for awhile to let the elk ctfd if unmounted, using the bone whistle pauses the agro just long enough to mount the beast (don't hit the elk, lol)
  21. afaik, the next location to be generated when finding the bit by the skeleton bones, is the Nadiya Village. (and no mansions that i know of, unless the game is referring to the village as a mansion type stucture, idk) kinda sounds like something was in the way of the nadiya village generating maybe? if thats the case, there is a way to manually regen the story area documented in the wiki (but it sounds like you have view that bit already) ref: trouble shooting section
  22. welcome to the forum @Vandle just curious, did you happen to try swapping back in the baskets? I only ask because backpacks, baskets act as storage and can actually be placed on the ground containing what ever was in inventory. (an interesting way to extend storage in a way)
  23. Welcome to the forum @heyjon I too play on TOPS, and the biggest tip imho is to use the map, find a translocator (or a sequence of TL's) to hop a further distance away from spawn, where resources are a bit more plentiful Map The Offical Public Server
