About the only thing I would think to do with alcohol is to make high tier bandages if I weren't able to find sulfur (which happens more often than not for me).

That's one reason I like this game. Devs give you multiple ways to achieve the same goal. There isn't a single best option for everyone, it's what suits the individual's style.

It all depends on the dev's vision of what crafting without the crafting grid looks like. It may incorporate a workbench, it might not. We'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, it seems that there are other things higher on the priority list, like story elements and other mechanics, like multi-block vehicles.

I'm sure that dog will have a very loving response as well. -

The homepage has changed the reference from Lovecraft to eldritch, but having read Lovecraft I can definitely see the Lovecraftian influence in game. -
Good catch! Mushrooms are great early game, but when it comes time to start mass producing a stockpile of food they just aren't plentiful enough. BUT I do love seeing them appear in the forest as I'm running around, even when being chased by various neighborly critters that want to welcome me to their woodland home with a hearty handshake or hug.

I have no problem with needing a temporal gear to reset spawn. This game is not easy, and a bed resetting spawn would be such a departure from the difficulty presented in the rest of this game. I think the current mechanic makes it a motivating factor to get that first temporal gear. Craft 6 flint spears and grind out some drifter kills. That's not hard given some flat terrain about 100 blocks in diameter.

I'll have to look into him. Thanks @LJim -

Tyron has already mentioned the second story event will be added. And the teasers of upcoming mobs should be disturbing. What happened to this world is quiet disturbing and I'd expect that there's some entities that should be exceedingly disturbing; especially considering the Lovecraft basis for the story theme. Try reading some Lovecraft sometime and see just how disturbing he gets. -
No worries. Goggle Translate does a good job. With a warm start you probably won't have to go too far. Probably just 5,000 to 10,000 blocks, maybe less. You may have accidently disabled or hidden your propick results. Propick results enabled Propick results disabled (not the white lettering) They cannot be cultivated... yet. But I recall seeing a mod a while back that provided mushroom cultivation. Welcome to the wondrous world of Harr... err Vintage Story. Enjoy your stay and feel free to rage quit to save your sanity.

I thought it would be fun to see what interesting pictures everyone has of Dave. Share your portraits of our beloved Thunderlord here.

Fix stone path stairs model to fit with stone paths
Maelstrom replied to ShnitzelKiller's topic in Suggestions
I keep forgetting that slabs are ONLY bottom slabs and cannot be placed in the top half of a block. So the whole 50% grade would require full path blocks to build. Might as well just craft a bunch of stair path blocks. -
Welcome to Vintage Story @miss and @slatetac. May your gear never turn gray!

Assuming the climate setting is NOT set to "Patchy" which will produce a minecraft like world of patchwork climates shotgun blasted all over the world.

But you've done everything up to that last sand block plug.

Fix stone path stairs model to fit with stone paths

Not possible when pathing over a large hill requires a 100% grade instead of 50% grade from slabs. -
The devs do desire to get rid of the crafting grid (see roadmap in the devlog menu at top of page). My only concern is that too much realism is definitively UNfun in games and at such points realism needs to give way to game mechanics to promote enjoyment of the game rather than descend into a real life simulator.

Knapping stone tools will always point in east/west direction. Specifically, the point of a spear head will point west.

Just as the title says. I thought it would be exceedingly basic to make the list of ores for pro pick results in the map view be alphabetized, but alas no. Please Tyron, this should take like 60 seconds, if that.

The long axis of the ingot mold points along the north/south axis of the world. Two molds can be placed per square regardless.

The best horror has a set up. Such as there's a quick introduction to unnatural critters (drifters), but there's other horrors out there, increasingly horrifying drifters, locusts of various types and temporal storms that don't come along the first night. Watch some classic gothic horror (Alien or A Nightmare on Elmstreet) to see how horror is a buildup until you finally meet the big bad boogie man - usually not until at least 1/3 or even 1/2 of the story is over.

Wine doesn't last that long, but if you wait until the last day to squeeze the berries, then wait until the last day of the juice before sealing to make wine the wine won't spoil until about 50 days after picking the berries. Jam sealed in a crock can last for about 2 years [edit over 4 in a cellar] by comparison. The problem with jam is it provides a low amount of satiation, but OTOH, is that what jam would be used for anyways?

fixing whatever the hell this is supposed to be

More like the animals are sensitive to extra-dimensional phenomena (i.e. seraphs) due to whatever Jonas did. -
There may be a container on your back already.

It seems to me that the thing the suit was protecting against was likely the rot mentioned throughout the current lore. It also seems to me the rust dimension and rust encrusted critters are a result of Jonas' activity. If you read HP Lovecraft's stories you'll get a good feeling for this game.
