  1. @RubyFlareon YES! It was that mod! Thank you so much! I like having body temp and wind speed on my HUD since it's stuff that's mechanically important but not immediately obvious, and I feel like it's fair to have on hand since it's stuff you'd be able to just feel with your senses in an irl situation. The room indicator too since it makes house/cellar building less of a pain.
  2. Since there's only One thread here at time of posting I thought I'd add a basic "What mod is this from" thread since I have a mod I can't remember the name of but I want to use again. Please tag me if you know what I'm talking about, if you don't know my mod but have a mod of your own you can't remember, please feel free to reply to my post with your "what mod was this?" Description. Hopefully we can help each other out -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's a mod I want to download again, but I can't remember the name and I lost my original game files in an OS switch so I can't look and see what it was. It was a UI mod that let you add stuff like temperature, wind speed, time of day, and a bunch of other minor things to the game UI. I remember you could adjust the size of the UI elements and also set each individual element to appear at the center, edges, or corners of the screen, and then further adjust the X/Y position to get them in just the right place. Searching UI on the mod DB doesn't get results that look right to me.
  3. I'm just curious about that since I read that the seasons will be different depending on whether you're close to the poles/equator, and I thought it'd be neat if the day/night cycle changed in a similar way. Also wondering if the sun stays in the sky for months on end like in the IRL arctic/antarctic circle, does that mean there's months with now drifter spawns (outside of storms/caves)
  4. I've been trying to remake the vintage story modded experience I had on my ex's steam deck on my current computer, but I guess all of those mods don't play nice anymore so it's been a lot of trial and error. I tried running an older version of VS, 19.8, and see if that works, but I gave up on that and uninstalled it to try again with the current stable version. But something weird happened cause now the mod manager is still saying I have a bunch of mods in the mods folder, yet when I look in the folder it's empty save for the default basegame stuff: Mods folder contents: Mod Manager contents: I want to find wherever these are installed so I can delete all these mods, some of which are duplicates for different versions of the game, and start from scratch, but I can't find where these are installed on my computer because windows search is absolute garbage... clicking "open mods folder" just opens my documents folder in the C drive, which is not where I even have VS installed (I have it installed in my D drive) I also tried installing the Vehicles Library mod using one click install to see if I could search for it in my files and find where it was put, vehicleslib showed up in the mod manager, but I can't find where it is in my system despite searching for it in both my C and D drives... UPDATE: so searching for vehicleslib did work I just needed to not capitalize anything and also search in My Pc rather than one drive or the other, it took a while but I did find where one click install put it. the mods were installed in C:/Users/[my username]/AppData/Roaming/VintagestoryData/Mods Hopefully this helps anyone with the same issue as me in the future
  5. (I know there's lore one can find, but i haven't found anything in-game regarding the drifters yet so this may or may not reflect their canonical appearance) The weird segmented neck and tiny dark spot on the otherwise blank "head" reminded me of a bug larva, I wasn't sure what the deal with the feet was beyond having 3 prominent "claws" so i drew them as Tapir feet.
  6. Wait are there NPCs besides Traders? I've literally only seen three people in my whole single player world and they were all traders.
  7. You can hit the "disable UI" button (I forget what the default keybind is but it should be listed in the options somewhere) while in bed you don't get the screen blackout and can see when the sun rises if you wanna get up as soon as there's light
  8. I think it would be cool to make a small shrine to a chunk of meteoric iron. I have two blocks that I was able to quarry and I want to chisel one of them into a cool statue. I'm not sure what I should carve though, I've been playing around in a creative world but nothing is clicking yet.
  9. Now that I've actually chiseled something allow me to share it here: I wanted to see how round I could make a block of polished sandstone be, then I added some slate smiley faces to it and carved a little fancy pedestal for it to sit on. I had to wait till daylight to take a decent screenshot cause the ones I took at night have a uhhh...unintended vibe
  10. I think it would be fun if there was a "freeform" option when choosing what clay thing you want to sculpt, and then you could use the clay forming tools to make little sculptures of whatever you want. The resulting creation would have no use, but itd be a fun alternative to chiseling to make little decorations. The clay sculpt can be put in the crafting grid to "recycle" it back into clay, or it can be fired to make it a permanent object. Being able to paint the sculpt with dyes would be fun too but idk how easy that would be to implement
  11. That's really good! Love the birds!
  12. I wanna get into chiseling cause it looks fun but I don't even know where to start, show me what yall've made with a good ol hammer and chisel
  13. There was also the time when I was ambushed by a steppe lion* after a fruitless round of prospecting below a frozen lake. We both ended up slipping and sliding across the ice like god damned loony toons before the cat eventually ended me. I was pissed at the time but in hindsight that was a pretty funny way to go *From the mod "Fauna of the Stone Age: Pantherinae" by Tentharchitect
  14. It was spring of year 0, I had only just spawned in a few days ago and was still figuring out the basics of survival... I was sitting in a dirt pile I'd made for quick shelter, night was falling, there was thunder and lightning outside, and I could hear wolves nearby. I'd happened upon some clay and decided to pass the time making a crock, id just built and lit the pit kiln when I realized I didn't have any food with me, and my hunger was rapidly reaching critical levels. I lamented my lack of forsight and mental prepared for the inevitable pain of starvation...and then I shit you not a rooster ran into my hut through the single block window I'd left open to observe the weather. The bird couldn't figure out how to leave so it ended up running circles around my pit kiln, where it immediately caught fire and died. When I recovered from the shock I quickly butchered the bird and had a nice chicken dinner to tide me over till it was safe to explore again. I will never forget the sacrifice of that beautiful stupid chicken
  15. I can't get screenshots rn so I drew an image of what I mean: I'm trying to make a more rounded looking roof, which means the roof isn't always at a 45 degree angle, and I can't figure out how to make the roof tile blocks look good. Ive been playing in creative mode to make a house before I build it for real in survival, so I can see what all the materials look like
