  1. I've been generating the same seed several times and have noticed a *lot* of difference in foliage, ruins, contents of pots, loose rocks and flint, and even - I think - metal bits. It would be nice to have access to whatever is used to seed these spawns and to be able to specify it so we can get the same exact world every time.
  2. I figured it out... When you lay down the first piece of clay, one unit of clay is removed from your inventory and you get 89 voxels worth of clay, 25 'in hand' and 64 on the ground in an 8x8 square. When the 'in-hand' voxel count reaches 0, another unit of clay is deducted from your inventory, but only 25 more voxels of clay are added to your 'in hand' counter. So that first piece of clay is worth almost four times what every subsequent piece of clay is. I realize that clay isn't exactly an extremely scarce resource, but I'm not sure the time savings are worth the material loss. No matter how many items you're working with, "copy previous layer" only applies 4 voxels at a time. Assuming this should be fixed, the favorite solution I've come up with would be if putting down the first piece of clay made a 6x6 (36 voxel) square, and gave you 18 voxels in-hand, and every subsequent unit of clay increased the in-hand counter to 64. Thus every inventory unit would be worth 64 voxels. Something I noticed while testing the above: if you remove all voxels of clay from the workspace (such that your voxel counter would hit 89), the workspace is cleared, but the clay is not returned to your inventory; this should be fixed. You can always glob clay back together.
  3. So I was clay-forming some crocks and I noticed something. I accidentally made a single one, so I had to make 3 more to have a multiple of four, and I noticed it only takes me 2 clay to make a crock when making them one-by-one, but if I take the same 8 clay it would take to make 4 one-by-one and try to make a set of four at once, it only gets about 75% the way done before I run out of clay. That...really doesn't seem right.
  4. The area South East of spawn is almost good, but it's a bit small. Anyway, I found a decentish seed in 682248032. Spawn in slate grave, but to the east is a nice biome. There's a nice ruin foundation in the southern part of it, too. EDIT: Wow, yeah, I'm getting really, *really* frustrated by the variance even in using the same seed...
  5. Well, one reason might be that while Seed generates the general landscape, the specific spawns of things like plants and maybe metals seem to be completely random? Oh what a bother.
  6. I don't really like building on uneven ground. It makes for nice views, but it always feels so awkward to build on. Here's the seed I used that I liked so much. It's seed 1840757324 from version 1.15.5. I cranked up my view distance to maximum just for taking the screen shots. I reduced the bitrate(?) of the screen shots in paint.net so I could put all 5 of them in one post, otherwise they too big for the per-post limit. Here's four in the air just near where you spawn into the world. The little pit just behind where you spawn next to the tree served as my work space for the first week or so. Then here's one a few hundred blocks North West, where I actually made my real first real base, using the ruined tower as a starting point.
  7. That's some *beautiful* landscape, and thank you for sharing, but what I'm looking for is something with a nice easy spawn. Lots of vegetables and berries around, and relatively flat. That last part seems to be the real kicker. Hills, hills *everywhere*.
  8. Sure, but you can specify the worldgen settings you used. I do not have a nice seed to share. =( I've been looking for a couple hours for one with a nice spawn location, haven't found one yet. I did find a really nice seed a year or two ago, but while I still have the save, I don't recall what version of the game generated it. Regardless, I wanted to start a fresh new seed for this latest version of the game.
  9. It's a shame there's not a nice, orderly thread of seeds. I hate spending hours generating seeds to try to find a nice one that I actually want to play. =(
  10. Bummer. I was hoping to avoid doing a full reinstall. Oh well. I'll just have to make sure to back up things next time I mess with them. I mean tell him to do that. Yeah.
  11. Is there a way to repair an install if you foolishly changed or deleted some files without making back ups? Asking for a friend, because I'm certainly not silly enough to do such a thing... <.<;;
  12. Thank you for the auto-updater; it's incredibly convenient.
  13. Just build a proper wall with an overhang? Seemed to work in my testing in creative... Something with a cross-section like a chess Knight's move works. EDIT: Fun fact: IRL, bears can climb fences and even sheer rock faces.
  14. I'm not sure what TP means, but if they're 3x3 plots, it could be they just don't want to remake their farms later, so make them 3x3 so eventually when they get buckets they can put a spot of water in the center. That's all I can figure anyway. I just water my crops manually. It's not that big of a deal.
  15. Streetwind isn't exactly wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen a map where I didn't find reeds and surface flint relatively near spawn. Then again, my experience may be out-of-date, I haven't made a new map in a few patches.
  16. Is it weird the things I find most exciting are the berry bushes and the ground placement orientation? Question, though: will the berry bush blocks still be stackable? Right now - or I guess I should say last time I played - you could put one on top of another.
  17. Thank you. x_x Sorry I'm a dumb-dumb. I actually tried doing a name search, but I guess I messed it up somehow. Again, thanks.
  18. Which other mods? The only one I can find here is a Waypoints Extension one which seems to be gone from the Vintage Story mods site. =-\
  19. Is this project dead, or does the current version work with 1.16.5?
  20. It's been a while since I played, but as I recall, most of my problem with wolves was them being stone-silent most of the time. I'm in a thickly bushed area and can't see more than a few blocks away, suddenly I hear *BARK BARK* and half my health is gone, then I'm dead a moment later. Sometimes they like to give me a warning growl, and that's nice, but it's no where near a reliable means of detection and avoidance. The entire issue of wolves could be fixed by giving them a large radius of reliable warning, and an actual leash distance, or otherwise reducing their chase distance.
  21. Did anyone play Sky Saga Infinite Isles when it had stamina? That was probably my favorite combat in a "MineCraft Clone".
  22. If I knew anything about modding, I would be very interested in taking your ideas and doing something with them. But I do not. =(
  23. You can also just enclose your work area with fences to keep them out. That's what I usually do.
  24. I think meat's probably better than berries. Berries rot at an 8:1 ratio. That's pretty awful.
