Any clue what's wrong here? Did they change the curing recipe?
Nathan Flaminio replied to murkycreature's topic in Discussion
Is it rendered fat? You have to cook it first now. -
Ask a fellow student if you can use their computer to update. Maybe they'll be interested in playing, too.

Larch, Walnut, Purpleheart, and Redwood for housing. We have a Redwood and a Purpleheart sailboat. I really like Bald Cypress cabinets with Purpleheart doors, and Ebony cabinets with Bald Cypress doors. Bookshelves made of Oak. I used Maple for everything else because it was the most abundent wood in the area. Pine for firewood/charcoal.

@Professor Dragon I never saw your response, but thank you. I am on 1.22.7, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I'd like to make the motherplant be permanent like a berry bush or fruit tree. Would setting the growthStages to 7 or changing the totalGrowthMonths to 9999 allow for this? Or is it something else entirely?

Did the drop table for panning change recently?
Nathan Flaminio replied to Michael Gates's topic in Questions
We're still getting plenty of them. Might be a mod altering something because that seems too many for bad luck. -
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came...

I think we had a similar problem with the Level Up mod installed in our last playthru. We had to save, exit, and reload the game to get harvesting animals to work properly.

Meteoric Steel as an upgrade to normal Steel
Nathan Flaminio replied to SnapJelly's topic in Suggestions
There is a mod for Meteoric Steel that works quite well. I use it to make the falx and armor, but otherwise stick to normal steel for the rest of our tools. (Though I did make an Uber-shovel, axe, and hoe for big jobs). I make us each one set of tools with Meteoric Iron, but otherwise only use it for a few lanterns for myself, my elk, and my sailboat. The rest get turned into Meteoric Steel.- 7 replies

Somethings I'd like to see in a future update
Nathan Flaminio replied to Nathan Flaminio's topic in Suggestions
The book titles on the books, instead of "Orange" or "Purple." We finally did the Resonance Archives again, and trying to get all those books, in order, on the bookshelves takes far more effort than it needs to. I can see having it an "orange book" before you read it, but after it should show the book title and chapter when you hover over it. -
There is a mod, but it hasn't been updated yet, as far as I know. Lifeways Cacao

Now when you pick a paw-paw or a prickly pear And you prick a raw paw, well, next time beware Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw When you pick a pear try to use the claw But you don't need to use the claw When you pick a pear of the big paw-paw Have I given you a clue? -
I haven't found any in the wild yet, though I did replace some Beautyberry bushes with Cloudberry in a greenhouse using Creative mode (I like the lower profile better). The Cloudberry bushes, for part of their lifecycle, have a giant flat white sheet with a red question mark on them. Like the question mark cube, but flat like a sheet of paper. These are the only berry bushes having this issue. Is this because they're not actually in the game yet, or something else? Anybody else have this issue?

Get rid of the red cannot knapp here message when adding flint to a bloomery. Still would like to have the ability to chisel in small amounts of (running) water for fountains instead of huge water blocks. Snow shouldn't build up if it's not actively snowing. Could make an argument for wind, but if wind is blocked by a building (or whatever), there shouldn't be buildup. It would be nice to see a bit more realistic fluctuation in temperatures. It's not always oppressively hot in summer and below freezing in winter. I'd like to see a way to attach a new kind of lantern to a gear, or a hood that spins with an amplifying lens to make realistic lighthouses. Something that would make the light into a cone, and spin. -
I had 8 out of 14 iron tools disintegrate on the first quench. I was pissed. Since then, the numbers had been a lot lower, but I downloaded LadyWYT's mod because it's too much effort for no return otherwise. It would be one thing if they broke and you could repair them, but losing out completely sucks (especially with steel). Love your mod @LadyWYT!

anyone know why my berry bushes lost their traits after fully maturing?
Nathan Flaminio replied to Lempo's topic in Questions
Happened to me as well. 6 different fruit bushes lining the walls by my front door, all lost their traits. All had the +15% and some had other positive traits too (my strawberry had 3 positive and no negative). I have not updated yet, still on 1.22.3 -
I noticed the same thing, and am currently working on getting them to Gen 3 before trying again. I spent waaaay too much time trying to get milk with no success.

From my testing of that in my last world, you have to start with the paper lantern/light block and chisel something else onto it, or it will not count as a light source. I added a bit of paper lanterns to the middle of ashlar blocks above my cooking pots at one of my bases, but it didn't count as light. When I started with the lanterns, then chiseled them down and chiseled in ashlar blocks around them, they did count as a light. That was 1.21.5, though.

Is charcoal no longer hot enough to make an iron anvil?
Nathan Flaminio replied to wintif's topic in Questions
Sounds like a bug, or maybe it's cooling too quickly. I usually get the temps up to over 800° to smith (830-850°). Just to check something else, you did put Borax on it, right? -
Can we get a fix for the wind/cold inside of buildings? I get too close to a window in my workshop, my Seraph puts his arm up to block the wind. (Workshop counts as Room and Greenhouse). My armor stand with Chain Armor next to the window is frozen. Plants are blowing and freezing inside of greenhouses, not just by the windows, the entire interior. At a certain point, I can understand the freezing, but there shouldn't be any wind at all in a completely enclosed space. Smithing on an anvil Can we move the Tooltip up a bit? The words appear on the ingot being worked into an item. Can we get it off the item completely? I still have some trouble seeing the height of voxels when smithing large items. Is there something that can be done to better show differences in height levels when smithing things like Anvils? Windmills The new Large variant is underpowered for the amount of resources spent to create it, especially compared to the new Waterwheels. There seems to be some discrepency with getting them to properly detect wind-levels; My Windmill attached to the Quern in my main house seems to be running at ground-level wind values instead of the wind at the height of the rotor. HUD shows 26% wind while indoors at ground-level, quern doesn't move. Climb the ladder, HUD shows 96% wind, sails start to spin again. I've tested this repeatedly. At a distance, you can see the sails spinning at my workshop much faster than the sails at my house (which often doesn't spin at all), even though they're the same height. When visibly targeting the rotor, it then seems to detect the windspeed and starts spinning again. Both are the newer Large Windmills. Height of windmills for both buildings is 225, sea level is 165. Full sails. Also, can we get vertical Clutch/Transmissions for the Querns? I had a few more things, but now I've forgotten (because I'm old and haven't had my coffee yet...)

Update: Was just in the pen to milk the ewes, and a lamb was directly under a lantern, but tooltip stated "deprived of light, might die soon" (or something very similar to that). Something is causing the lambs to react like it's dark even though it is not.
