  1. My first mod. Modifies the recipe for the Hunter's Backpack to require rope and sticks/bones instead of reed/papyrus. I like the colder regions of the game, but the complete absence of reeds makes starting in one unreasonably difficult unless you get lucky with the ruin and wild crop generation. Rope can be crafted with vines, which are available in colder regions, allowing the crafting of a hunter's backpack in a climate which lacks reed or papyrus. You can find it on VS ModDB Version 2.0.0 After playing with the previous version, I found 5 rope to be an excessive jump in cost if you wanted to make the hunter's backpack with reeds, with a total requirement of 30 per backpack. I had previously made a variant which altered the crafting recipe of rope to require half as much rope but it didn't sit right with me. The new recipe only asks for 3 more reeds from the vanilla 15, without need for altering the crafting recipe of rope.
  2. There is parchment, which I admit it is a little different from paper but still, you could wax it and seal things in it. If you can't make it, because so far I only went on the wiki to proof myself and I only saw parchment in trader lists, make it possible and/or increase the chance for retrieving the parchment from opening the parcel.

    Wooden cart

That's true, but personally I would prefer if the motion to get a cart would be more along the lines of a small one that's one block in size. There's too much verticality in VS for anything bigger that's not on legs to look proper being dragged around. Maibock came in before me, I believe. Putting otherwise static storage containers on the cart could also work, afterall it's not like storage progression is that dissimilar. I still think 4 slots bring more flexibility to the system than 1, specially if more specialized backpacks like the mining bag come out: you have higher potential carry capacity than the single chest you could add, but you have to plan ahead. You could then also put whatever other non-backpack item the game allows you to put in a backpack slot, like a skep or whatever else comes in the future, on the cart, never having to fully sacrifice carry capacity or what's on you rather than your cart.
  4. There are, like, 3 mods that add the ability to turn meat into jerky. I would say it's about time it becomes a vanilla feature. Primitive Survival I believe made it best with jerky curing by its own in your inventory like oiled pelts. Pemmican could then be added and require cured jerky to make (I would say pounded, but the current pulverizer is everything but food-grade). I'm not sure how you would go about removing it from the cooking pot because it doesn't need a bowl, but if it's made through the use of the pot my suggested recipe is first and second slots cured jerky, third slot either fat or 0.4L honey, fourth slot optional berries. The result would be a 64-stackable item with about one and a half to one and 3/4 the nutrition of a cooked redmeat steak, but that could last an entire season at 1x spoilage rate. Additionally I believe waxed paper isn't being used enough. An idea would be being able to wrap up to 4 steaks (raw or cooked) or pemmican and triple the shelf life. Identical packages could stack up to 16 in the inventory, some piece of mind about possibly being able to ground store by stacking the packages like bricks as well. You open a package by holding right click while it's in your hand and that returns the packaged items in your inventory, at whatever state of spoilage they're in, and there's a 50% chance the waxed paper is returned to you.

    Lead hammers?

So far I don't see where they could belong, but it's something to consider when hammers will be used for something more than smithing and grid crafting, like resetting machines that jam and can be damaged if you hit them with harder metals.
  6. I like the idea of putting a lantern in your backpack slot, so you can trade storage for illumination with two free hands. Definitely getting a thumbs up from me.

    Wooden cart

That is exactly what I would like out of the addition of a cart in the game. Anything bigger and you would meet upon issues regarding things looking proper. There are those "pioneer" handcarts with huge wheels that I believe are perfect candidates to be shrunk down, look the part of something you could drag over these 1-block jumps. A small 1-block cart you can perfectly see it just strapped on you and tagging along while you keep both your hands free and still have full mobility (well, maybe some % penalty or losing the ability to sprint), no need for added animation, while still looking the part. Some bits like the arms and wheels can extend past the block in size and noone will find it weird, just keep the main body and hitbox contained to one block or less. I also support the idea of making the cart's inventory system act like 4 additional backpack slots, so you can have your cart early without worrying about it being too useful early in the game or not enough later on, 'cause its storage capacity is tied to backpack progression. You can also make a full cart look full by just having the models of the backpacks appear on it.
