Michael Gates Posted January 25, 2025 Report Posted January 25, 2025 The recipe for making glue warns you that you end up with a residue'd pot. The recipe for candles should have that same warning. Honestly I suspect that candles are going to come up first for almost all players; ruin-bits are kind of a niche cosmetic item, but EVERYBODY needs lanterns. 6
Thorfinn Posted January 25, 2025 Report Posted January 25, 2025 I guess that's a good point. If you warn about glue, you should warn about candles. Hasn't really bothered me, since I fire way too many things when I don't want to see what goes bump in the night, but still. Consistency and all.
Michael Gates Posted January 26, 2025 Author Report Posted January 26, 2025 I don't think either of us is the real target for this warning, no it's one of those "think of the CHILDREN" moments. 1
BiznesTelch Posted January 26, 2025 Report Posted January 26, 2025 That would help. But, like, vintage story is based of real life techniques. So what did you think that it would ruin a pot. But, yeah, that would be handy. (I never had that happen. Totally
Teh Pizza Lady Posted January 26, 2025 Report Posted January 26, 2025 I made a pot specifically for glue and another specifically for candle making so that I wouldn't ruin my food pot. Â

You sound like one of those guys who has outlines drawn on the pegboard so you know where each tool goes. At Casa de Thorfinn, it's more like, "Where the heck did I put that stupid candle pot! It's gotta be here somewhere!" until I just use another. Then promptly misplace it. 1 3

They're all relatively nonflammable containers for inedible molten items, right? 1

It's just that they keep vanishing, probably to wherever the gremlin puts all the socks that I'm absolutely positive were in the dryer.

Vratislav Posted January 26, 2025 Report Posted January 26, 2025 Also cooking sturdy leather makes pots dirty, but I don't remember if there was warning, supposing not. However, this is so late game item, that having only one pot in this phase would be sign of being extreme skimp.

Guimoute Posted January 27, 2025 Report Posted January 27, 2025 I have a dedicated laboratory for cooking everything that makes pots dirty. I set it up before 1.20 because I knew it was going to be annoying to make industrial quantities of sulfuric acid in my 1-firepit home. It was a blessing and helped speed up the production of sturdy chromed leather tremendously.
Lanceleoghauni Posted January 28, 2025 Report Posted January 28, 2025 It would be helpful as a warning I think, but would not affect me much. I'm that guy who overproduces storage "Because what if I need it" and then feel compelled to fill it with tools. I have like 6 cooking pots between all my stoves and the dirty ones for potash/glue/candles. I have more crocks than I could ever reasonably use alone. I am constantly producing bowls to continue turning wolves into lamps. I prepare for the apocalypse with clay crafts because we've already had at least one! 1 1
Michael Gates Posted January 28, 2025 Author Report Posted January 28, 2025 That reminds me, I need to make about fifty bowls. For reasons. Also, my "protein" health meter is full, but the other ones are all empty. For, perhaps, related reasons. 1
