Joshua D Bybee Posted May 12, 2025 Report Posted May 12, 2025 I am not the sharpest crayon in the box when it comes to computer stuff but have found this community so very helpful so I have a few questions I need help with. when looking at the world map why do I have Large squares that are white? I get the small ones that are holes/caves but not these big ones. I have very few mods and figure that is part of the problem I just want to understand how to fix them. For context I have Vanilla+ terrain, Better ruins, carry on, QP chisel tools, Quarry mod, auto map markers I think that is all. I can never find that command handbook I just want simple things like relighting, latitude and such. I love this game this is not a complaint I am just looking for help. Yes I have tried to look through the forms for answers but I get overwhelmed trying to wade through all of it trying to find something I understand relates to my questions. Most of you are wicked smart and the things you do are amazing so thank you in advance.
gilt-kutabe Posted May 12, 2025 Report Posted May 12, 2025 @Joshua D Bybee I couldn’t find the Vanilla+terrain mod - is it a terrain generation mod, and if so, did you install, uninstall, or update it or any other terrain generation mod after starting your world? Also, are the white squares on your map lined up with missing chunks in your world?
Thorfinn Posted May 12, 2025 Report Posted May 12, 2025 (edited) Command handbook is .chb I never play with map enabled (and shut it off if it is enabled) so I'm not going to be much help on the white squares. I take it they are roughly 1 chunk (32x32) in the middle of explored territory? Edited May 12, 2025 by Thorfinn
Joshua D Bybee Posted May 12, 2025 Author Report Posted May 12, 2025 There are no missing chunks in the world in the most recent the tops of the redwood trees were missing like something tried to load in but didn't Other times I just find floating block textures. I have kept everything up to date and not added anything new if I remember right Vanilla+ just smooth's out the terrain more at world gen. the world was created with it if that clarifies things. Thank you Thorfinn!
Zane Mordien Posted May 12, 2025 Report Posted May 12, 2025 Screenshot maybe? I use vannila+ and I don't think i have seen what you are describing.
Joshua D Bybee Posted May 12, 2025 Author Report Posted May 12, 2025 this is the spot i am closest to
idiomcritter Posted May 12, 2025 Report Posted May 12, 2025 kinda looks like what happens when the world gen attempts to build near world height, trees, mountains all end up decapitated, not going over the limit of world height. also, if not already tried, i'd fire up the client with no mods and see of the map changes as a test
Joshua D Bybee Posted May 13, 2025 Author Report Posted May 13, 2025 So turned all of them off no change I appreciate the suggestions
V1ncent Posted May 13, 2025 Report Posted May 13, 2025 The white squres look like bugged snow texture, considering you are already in winter. What is your world height? I doubt it is the default 256, considering red wood shall not generate above 180 with the default 110 sea level.
