MrGuppy Posted November 26, 2025 Report Posted November 26, 2025 Hello, my resolution is too big I have tried many options including nuking it I have tried the setting, but nothing has worked I can reach the resolution on the game setting itself because it's outside my screen. please help.
Vexxvididu Posted November 26, 2025 Report Posted November 26, 2025 do you have a low resolution on your PC? Maybe try temporarily increasing resolution on your PC to match what VS is set at. then hopefully you can lower them both.
MrGuppy Posted November 26, 2025 Author Report Posted November 26, 2025 I have full resolution on my pc is there anything else?

Do you use anything like a screen magnifier? If you press F11, it should force the game to be full screen which should allow you to set the resolution settings in the menu.
LadyWYT Posted November 27, 2025 Report Posted November 27, 2025 Out of curiosity, what is your operating system? I vaguely recall a Linux user having similar issues a while back, and it turned out to be a result of some customization they did.
MrGuppy Posted November 28, 2025 Author Report Posted November 28, 2025 Is there a way that I can reset the setting to before they were modified or if there's a way to completely resent my vintage story like erase everything that I have done just so it runs properly, I just want play again even if it means losing all my progress. Also, your questions are a bit confusing I'm not the best when it comes to computers.

Also, your questions are a bit confusing I'm not the best when it comes to computers. This happened to me one time. I had to delete the configuration files to reset it. So just delete every configuration file you can find then reinstall the game. I would tell you the exact file but I'm in an airport.
MrGuppy Posted December 12, 2025 Author Report Posted December 12, 2025 I cant seem find the files you spoke of
dakko Posted December 13, 2025 Report Posted December 13, 2025 (edited) 20 hours ago, MrGuppy said: I cant seem find the files you spoke of In your Data folder, the one that holds your Saves & Mods folders, you will find: clientsettings.json & serverconfig.json I believe these are the files @Zane Mordien was talking about. I do know from experience that they will regenerate when you start the game, and this should give you a clean start. (I'm no expert though) Btw, if you do not quote a person (or ping them like I've done), they may not know that you've spoken to them unless they've subscribed to the thread or happen upon it by accident. eta: by default, I believe the Data folder location is under Users/(yourusername)/AppData/Roaming/VintagestoryData/ Edited December 13, 2025 by dakko
Zane Mordien Posted December 14, 2025 Report Posted December 14, 2025 @dakko thanks, I meant to come back and post the file names. I'm pretty sure it is the clientsettings. 1
MrGuppy Posted December 19, 2025 Author Report Posted December 19, 2025 is this what I'm supposed to be seeing
dakko Posted December 19, 2025 Report Posted December 19, 2025 (edited) 22 hours ago, MrGuppy said: is this what I'm supposed to be seeing No. You are looking at the folder for the installed game. You want to be looking at the folder that contains your data (data meaning your personal files, such as saves and mods you are using). (see below post for wiki link) Edited December 20, 2025 by dakko

The game itself uses that folder - confusing, I know, but just remember that it is not the folder that you add mods to. For the record, the correct Mods folder should be empty if no mods have been installed previously. The incorrect Mods folder will have a readme file in it that says "Do not put mods here". 1
MrGuppy Posted December 20, 2025 Author Report Posted December 20, 2025 how do I reach my folder with the data
dakko Posted December 20, 2025 Report Posted December 20, 2025 (edited) 33 minutes ago, MrGuppy said: how do I reach my folder with the data Here is the link for the wiki description of how to get there. The clientsettings.json file is the one you want, and it is in VintagestoryData: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Vintagestory_folder#Windows Edited December 20, 2025 by dakko
Zane Mordien Posted December 21, 2025 Report Posted December 21, 2025 7 hours ago, MrGuppy said: is this it That should be it. Also be careful of Doxing yourself in screen shots. If you are still having issues just copy the Maps and Saves folders and delete the entire "VintagestoryData" folder and reinstall. Then copy and paste them back in.
