Does anyone do anything out of these three metals (except for lining in case of gold and silver)? If so, what do you use them for?
I usually just hoard them like the dragon I am
Perhaps might build myself a cozy little cavern to hoard the ingots in...

Also, I'm playing vanilla only, are there any mods that make them a necessity?

Meteoric Iron is what I use for most of my tools until steel is abundant, which takes some time.  I still might use it if I think something is not quite worth a steel ingot.

Silver and gold can be used to make black bronze, which is great to sell to merchants even if you actually use iron or better for your own tools.  And of course, it's worth making at least one silver plate to line my lantern that i carry everywhere.

I usually use meteoric iron for arrowheads or just make a plate suit for fun. I usually have a few stacks of it lying around. Gold is required for to repair the forlorn hope armor set. I believe you need silver for distilling, although it's minimal. Both are needed for electrum although I've never bothered building any Jonas tech myself. Would be nice if gold and silver jewelry became craftable by the player to sell to the traders.

I do this too, though I do like to have a set of meteoric iron armor for display, and a lined lantern for extra brightness. Gold and silver I'll use for Jonas contraptions as needed, but otherwise...it's pretty much just the fun of hoarding shinies. Gemstones are included in that mix.

You do not, actually.  Solder is lead and tin.

EDIT:  There is also silver solder, but that is optional I think?

The nice thing about meteoric iron is that it's extremely abundant (I'm sitting on 200 ingots worth) and you directly get ingots from the bloomery without any processing. The only iron stuff I make is an iron anvil and iron pickaxe to be able to use meteoric iron. Then I switch to meteoric iron.

Forlorn Hope armor (gold repair) is pretty nice. It sits between steel chain and steel plate (protection / debuffs).

I use gold as a liner for my molybdachalkos lantern.  Black + gold lining is so awesomely be.a.you.tiful!

Meteoric iron?  The stuff of flexing.   I make a anvil for my helve hammers then quarry the blocks to use as the base for the fuel for my steel furnaces.   After that?  armor for show, I guess?   Frankly, I value the suevite more than the meteoric iron.

Flexing??? I genuinely don't get it. Meteoric iron is as easy to get as standard iron. Impact craters with meteoric iron are everywhere and many can easily be spotted on the map.

Even with a helve hammer, iron blooms are a pain to process and take a lot of time. A single helve hammer powered by 1 or 2 full sets of 5x sails doesn't cut it at all.

Meteoric iron skips the bloom processing.

Instead of processing iron blooms, I might as well pan bony soil, so that I can buy saltpeter (which is very painful to get) or lanterns (fairly cheap for the amount of crafting effort).
