Is the game supposed to occasionally go rainbow-y?

Twice now today - and only just today, after a few weeks of playing - I've watched the graphics go squirrelly.  Specifically, everything shifts to a rainbow-tint, rather like an oil slick, and everything goes wavy.  It's not a temporal event with bad graphics, I know that much.  I'm assuming it's probably a graphical glitch of some kind, but I thought I'd ask whether there's a lore-based reason for this is to be happening that I've only just now stumbled into?

If you are playing 1.22 you most likely ate a mushroom with psychedelic properties.

Check that, apparently I ate a liberty cap and that's what happened.

Yep, it's definitely some of the psychedelic mushrooms from 1.22

Definitely magic mushrooms. Don't worry, the effect will wear off after a few minutes. To my knowledge, cooking them will remove the psychedelic properties, so you might want to make sure they're cooked before eating them if you don't like trips.
