River Oak Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Randomly thought about the dangerous animals in the game. Some players struggle with bears and wolves, and they can be scary at times, but imagine how much worse it could be if things like big cats, elephants, hippos and crocodiles were in the game. Things could be so much scarier (and so much more fun). 2
Rainbow Fresh Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Big cats would be a death sentence for any unarmored player. Because speed is everything. If you can outrun it, you can live no matter what. If you can't, you die. It's why only some people struggle with bears or wolves. Don't wear armor (very counter-intuitive) and you can outrun them. Have a nice, big open kiting area and with your inhuman ability to sprint backwards while poking with a spear, they die with no chance to fight back. Other animals like elephants, crocodiles and hippos would be a different interesting story though. As their whole deal is not chasing you, but making it very clear that any trespassing in their "you enter, you die" zone is a bad idea. Which is, you know, a requirement to hunt them. Making them interesting "mini boss"-esque creatures with very rare, valuable loot at the risk of purely how well you can hit them while avoiding to be hit. 1
RationallyParanoid Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 It will be interesting to see how they implement crocs and hippos in the future (pretty sure I saw a post with some animation demos they were working on) I will have to give up my hobby of diving for shells when they finally implement those menaces... buuuuuut croc armour would be really really cool
Demoncyborg Posted Thursday at 02:47 PM Report Posted Thursday at 02:47 PM I played pretty often with a mod that adds elephants and mammoths of all sorts- what rainbow fresh said is right they are absolutely a miniboss and a pack will dominate an area away from you until you become armed and skilled enough to hunt them. and words cannot describe how much i want hippos and crocs. holy moly I want my wooden sailboat to get battered by a river beast

I now struggle collating words like 'bad' 'brutal' 'sick' to be associated with the word 'fun'. I understand there can be a connection, challenge and all of that and I used to be into it but now I sometimes think I have been unconsciously wrong the entire time.
