Not getting any meat from animals

I have trying to hunt, but every single animal I harvest drops no meat. I have killed aproximately 8 pigs, 1 bear, 1 wolf, 6 ewes, and multiple chickens, and every time i go to harvest the meat they have nothing. All of the animals have had a good weight, and I stabbed them all to death with my spear. Why am I not getting anything from them? Am I just somehow so unlucky?

Besides small animals like chicken or foxes, it is not normally possible for them to drop no meat at all when killed with a spear regardless of weight and regardless of class. Are you using any mods?

I think we had a similar problem with the Level Up mod installed in our last playthru. We had to save, exit, and reload the game to get harvesting animals to work properly.

I have a few, I used to have a butchering mod but its not active

Was the mod ever used on the world? Not all mods can be removed mid-playthrough.

nope, i had made this mistake on a previous world and it crashed the game, this is a fresh world i made without that particular mod

Aside from disable mods and try fresh, are they dropping anything? Drops sometimes get stuck being invisible for some reason, but mostly for a single mob.

Sorry to ask the stupid question, but are you using a knife to harvest the corpses of the animals you kill?

If yes, have you tried disabling your mods, starting a new test world, and checking if you can harvest meat from animals there?

yes i am using a knife. I can harvest from animals fine when i join my friends vanilla world

I think there was a butchering mod that stops you from being able to harvest meat with a knife and you have to use its process instead.  You don't have that one do you?

From my understanding butchering only reduces your yield when carving in the field, though sometimes it reduces it to nearly nothing. The problem here is that without knowing exactly what mods ARE running we can't know for sure if it's a bad interaction or an issue with the client itself.

You said you're able to harvest animals when you join your friend's vanilla game. In that case, I recommend disabling your modlist and making sure your vanilla game is working properly. If it is, then you can re-enable your mods one-by-one and test as you do so. When the problem reappears, you'll have found your problem mod.

You could also provide your modlist here, and someone else may be able to spot the problem mod. Otherwise without a list, it's tough to really say which mod could be causing the problem.

I have butchering off, i only have two mods on in game and those are BedSpawn by ilan and Bright Lights by HamdogCDXX

It's possible that butchering changed a setting that alters animal drops and simply toggling it didn't reset the issue. I would definitely attempt to run a fully vanilla world and see if the issue persists.

If I can ask, what class are you playing? I know a few have traits that reduce animal drops, but it shouldn't be to absolutely nothing. The worst case scenario is you may have to backup your worlds and mod folders and reinstall vintage story if the issue does persist across multiple worlds.
