Micah Holmes Posted October 15 Report Posted October 15 Trying to upload a screenshot of my WIP mod and says I reached my attachment limit?
Solution Demoncyborg Posted October 15 Solution Report Posted October 15 if you click on your profile in the top right of the forums, you can go to 'my attachments' to deal with that
Micah Holmes Posted October 15 Author Report Posted October 15 ok but what is this about? Are you limiting how many times i can attach a picture to my posts? These should be one and done. I dont need to store attachments on my personal account forever. Its for a post to share work. Just a little confussed

There's no limit to how many times you can attach a picture to a post, however, each time you do so the image is saved in the "My Attachments" section of your forum profile, and there is a limit to how much data can be stored. Hence why you're getting the warning message about reaching your attachment limit. You'll need to go to your attachments and delete old content to free up space for posting new stuff. Do be advised that deleting content will also remove it from the threads it was originally posted in, resulting in broken image links where the pictures once were. 1

These should be one and done. I dont need to store attachments on my personal account forever. Its for a post to share work. Just a little confussed This is about the fact that disk storage space - especially in these trying times - doesn't grow on trees and every user of the Vintage Story forums gets a fixed 50MB of disk space allotted for the uploading of files therein. Everytime you drag and drop (or copy and paste) an image into a post, you upload that very file in its entire size to the Vintage Story forums CDN, stored on Anegos Studio's servers, taking up space. So that they themselves can serve and display that picture anywhere you embed it into a post, not being reliant on external sources not being down to show content. Would theoretically work for any file shared, though I am not sure if Anego's allows uploading anything other than .png/.jpg/.gif/.bmp. Once you reached your attachments limit by using up all 50MB (or enough that the new image to try to upload would go over that), they won't let you. You first have to go, as LadyWYT explained above, into your profile's attachments section and remove already existing file uploads to make space, removing them entirely from the forums. On a side note, none of this would be a problem if Anegos would let us use the existing feature of this forum software to soft embed externally linked content (so we can upload our stuff to e.g. imgur or gyazo however much we want) but they blacklisted every URL that isn't coming from the vintagestory.at domain itself. Which means, if you wanted to experimentally poke the bear, your best bet would be to create draft-only mods on the ModDB, upload your showcase images there and link to them in a post here - though I am sure sooner or later someone would figure that out and not be too happy about it. Dilan Rona Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 and the bigger the picture you upload, the more space it takes up. So a suggestion is to go back to the oldest posts, and purging the older pictures first
lawn Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 When I hit my limit, I went back and found all the pictures I used, changed to jpeg, and resized them to med quality. Which is easy to do using the default windows picture viewer. Though I have also opened up a screenshot in my browser and then downloaded it back to get the at just the right quality as well. Then I edited all my posts replacing with the smaller files and deleting the matching pictures as I went along. They all look the same but I only take up a forth of my limit now. The screenshots from VS are a much higher quality than browsers actually use.
