Is there any way to regrow grass?

On farmland. :) Grass and sometimes horsetail grow on farmland if there's nothing else, so just leave parts empty.

Once you'll have flax farms, you will end up with so much flax grain that you'll cannot eat it all. So you can either give this grain to your animals, or turn it into flax dough that you let rot to make compost (since 1.15, compost is now worth doing it).

Or like Junawood said, have huge farmland zones left on fallow. Or even plow the soil (by removing it and putting it back on the same place), but this is really tedious.

If they eat it at anywhere near the same proportions, that's not going to help too much.  @_@  I'm growing some grain, but it's slow, and I had planned to eat it myself over winter.  Hrm.

Troughs take a stack of grass to fill but only 16 grain (iirc).  Once you harvest a field of 32 or 64 grain, you'll have enough grain to feed livestock for well beyond the next harvest.

Fun fact: you can also grow dry grass from placing dirt.  Though that is a bit more labour intensive (because after one harvest you need to dig up and replace the grass) than just waiting for it to grow on a fallow field.  Though I think it may grow a bit faster.

As Saricane said, flax is really the way to go for feeding animals. It has a low nutritional content vs other grains such spelt or rye so it makes sense to use it for animal feed.

If you are not opposed to mods, check out Xskills. This mod also must be paired with Xlib. This mod allows you to essentially “level up” in specific areas giving you distinct advantages for things like combat, crafting, farming, survivability, and much more. One of those advantages gives you a higher chance of collecting more seeds when harvesting crops. Check it out!
