    Reinstall?

So I should make a folder in my 1.18 install directory called VintagestoryData, rather than an individual folder? Will that fix it? I want 1.17.x and 1.18 to have different folders entirely, so that I can still play my 1.17.x servers, without having to disable mods every time I launch 1.18 and have to reenable them when I go back to 1.17.x. If that makes sense. OMG I can't believe I missed that! I'll try it as soon as I get home, thank you!

    Reinstall?

This is certainly not my thread, but I recently tried to do this and failed miserably. Any help would be appreciated. I wanted 1.17.x for stable use on servers (so I could launch and play modded servers) and another install of the newest update (no mods, just testing), but commands broke the 1.17.x install. It wouldn't read the mods folder or anything, and for the new one I set the data path to, it wouldn't automatically create the rest of the folder structure. This would show up in game, too, almost like it was corrupted. I tried various ways, but the last command I used was: "D:\PC Games\Vintagestory\Vintagestory.exe" --dataPath D:\PC Games\Vintagestory\Data --addModPath D:\PC Games\Vintagestory\Data\Mods" I ended up adding a ModPath because if I didn't, it would read the 1.17.x mod folder (and not let me disable them). Here's a screenshot of what happens in game. It not only breaks my stable 1.17.x install, but this happens in the 1.18 install: Any ideas on what I did wrong?

    Reinstall?

I've tried to install multiple versions, but it didn't like it if I was using mods on a stable version. It was such a headache, so now I just wait until the servers I play on update and move on whenever they do.
  4. Do you have any other defenders, such as Bitdefender? You need to allow auth.vintagestory.at to its list if so. Otherwise, I've seen the 2 account thing trip people up. The forum account is not the same as the account you bought the game on, which is what you log in with.
  5. Yes you can, played with my friends like that. But your router needs to support the option to do so. You can easily check if this is possible by logging into your ISP or contacting them.
  6. Yes it was, and it functions just fine and is very fun. I think it's important we don't confuse multiplayer in Vintage Story with needing to have MMORPG like restriction mechanics.
  7. Yes, these sorts of things often drop out of nowhere in updates. I suspect it's only a matter of time before we see cloaks and capes.
  8. Requiring more tilling after each crop seems like a good idea.
  9. As far as I know, we do not have an estimation of when it'll drop. It seems to be a while away, given the magnitude of its contents. More than enough time to play a world, I should think.

    What about 1.18?

Also, maybe the thing on the back is for snow travel?

    What about 1.18?

The future only gets brighter and brighter for Vintage Story!
  12. I'm sorry, but I disagree with pretty much everything except maybe the wolf pack. Especially removing biomes and stability.
  13. We should at least get a way to scare bears away for a while. Maybe hang up pots and pans that bang and scare them away? Air horn traps? Something like that to keep them away.
  14. This would be really, really helpful!
  15. I used to play over the internet with family and friends. It was really smooth/stable up to the 4 I played with, with my PC as host (same one I gamed on), both vanilla (no mods) and about 10 mods tested. That's as many people as I could test though. Assuming you have it all set up correctly on your end (router setup etc etc), you should have no problem playing that way. EDIT To be clear: yes, the game runs beautifully this way. If there are desyncs or unstable performance, it will most likely have to do to with 1) mods 2) host PC issues 3) internet issues (such as packet loss etc). In my experience though, that has never been an issue, so have fun!
  16. Yep, gives me massive motion sickness. It's not a vanilla setting and I also think we should get an option to tone it down or disable it, but here's a solution: https://mods.vintagestory.at/accessibilitytweaks
  17. Domesticated animals sleeping inside would be a really good option, especially if you could build doors/hatches that only they can get into. Like with chickens and pigs. Or, if that's too complicated, like you said. A place with doors you can build a spot for. Then maybe you just stand guard and make sure they all get in before closing the doors. It took one bear flying up and attacking me in the trees for me to say "nope" and move on. I'm not living anywhere near bears as they are now. lmao
  18. It sucks to uglify your farm/base to deal with animals, though. Bears being able to jump over blocks over 2 is insane, and if they can drag animals through fences, that's even worse. I think a good solution to that would be to make fences at least--at the very least--unable to "attack" through for animals. It will still be able to jumper over if the fences are only 1 block high, but that can be solved with 2-3 block high fences (even if it looks absolutely ugly.
  19. Of everything said here, I definitely agree about the rock throwing. 100%. It's so unfun trying to dodge sniper elite drifters when they never miss and dodging is completely unreliable for some reason. I suspect combat is not at a stage where its final though, so I'm waiting to see what they do. I don't know how I would suggest improvements myself, but hopefully enough feedback can help the devs out. However, I do want to say: please no stamina cost. It's never implemented well and just turns into this annoying "feature" that makes me want to quit.
  20. I also found Vintage Story due to googling "minecraft alternatives". I think VS was like third on the list that I read, but definitely the only real competitor in the end.
  21. If only we had mining helmets. lol
  22. It looks really, really good! Fantastic job!
  23. I just saw! Perhaps he is reading the thread! That would be really fantastic for the new players' input to be taken, even if not all or any of it ends up making the cut. At least I know this pausing feature is going to save the sanity of quite a few new players, some of my friends included. lol
