  1. You should get a crash log (and most likely a button in game that will open said log). See what the log says. If you need help with reading the log, post it here and one of the techie people here will help.
  2. I think it comes down to the personal cannon/lore we players inject. For me the seraph is aware and accepts the grueling start, ala Kyle Reese in the opening of Terminator.
  3. Take into consideration the opening and closing texts when loading and quitting a game. When loading part of the welcome is remembering and a call to Return Again. When quitting a sigh of loneliness. Indicates to me that the seraph we play enters and leaves the world as if by transitioning to and from the game world dimension. If that's the case, why would we have something beyond the clothes on our back? At least it beats Kyle Reese (father of John Connor) who shows up literally nekkid.
  4. Additionally, updates are subject to change. Tyron had intended 1.17 to be the story/lore update until he played the game with some friends/family and saw how much quirky stuff goes on; so he pushed the story/lore update to 1.18.
  5. @MSwampcroftA few other fun details you may want to try (if you don't already know about them)... 1. throw a stone at a pond/lake. 2. play a resonance chamber close to a rift.
  6. Fur clothes are WONDERFUL! All it takes is pelts and a knife or shears to create fur clothes that provide up to 4 degrees thermal protection. A full set takes 30 medium or large pelts and gives 9.5 degrees of protection iirc. I'm running a full set of fur and have little trouble running around in -20 degree weather and not getting the shivers. I think it takes about 18-24 hours outside constantly before I start shivering.
  7. No wonder I was getting murderized by drifters last night!
  8. Only at world creation. I believe the setting is climate - default is temperate but can be changed to warm, hot, cold or frigid which basically moves you closer to the equator or pole respectively.
  9. IRL trees do stop a lot, if not all rain. Seems like preventing rain from moisturizing farm blocks below them is accurate.
  10. Looks like you've got a very profitable source of hides, fat, meat and bones. A little thinking on the situation could solve your problems too.
  11. Rough hewn doors are basically a primitive door option before you can make boards for a more advanced door. Given the likelihood that rough hewn doors fall off their hinges, rough hewn gates may be a better option since they don't fall off the hingest.
  12. I don't think there's any additional benefit to putting crocks in a vessel. I think their primary spoilage is determined by presence in a cellar and whether it is sealed.
  13. Additionally crocks can be stored in chests and trunks like shelves and vessels.
  14. @Gerritt McGill Sounds like you camped near a wolf spawn point. As mentioned you can take the conventional route in dealing with the canine infestation. You can also dig a pit to trap wolves in. This unconventional method keeps wolves around, but in a way that is harmless to you and reduces (potentially eliminating) wolf spawns that are more disastrous to your continued adventures. As other's comments indicate, not all forests spawn wolves so prolifically. Part of your situation is RNG seems to hate you.
  15. And tree frogs. Daytime could use various song birds (boime dependent ideally), cicadas/insects as well.
  16. knocking out just one block should do the trick.
  17. problem with converting farmland back to soil blocks is resetting the nutrient levels thus creating a huge farming exploit.
  18. This is not true. Seraphs take damage from low temporal stability regardless of their proximity to walls. I've seen Seraphs take damage in wide open fields after spending too much time in a rift and depleting their temporal stability.
  19. You should know the answer to that question. Casting takes fewer steps to get the finished tool head.
  20. IRL gravel has a lot of uses. In game there are just two - panning or decorative/building block. At least sand is used for mortar. Low Fertility soil is used for packed dirt, path blocks and a few other building blocks. Gravel needs a bit o' love.
  21. I have found surface copper generates no lower than 6 blocks below soil level.
  22. I would like to see a use for gravel besides panning. Perhaps another path block that provides 10% boost to movement and a different texture than the stone pathblock but only comes in block and slab options, no stairs.
  23. Wolves will tail you to hell and back. Drifters are easily outrun and the one that caught you chopping a tree was probably one that spawned locally.
  24. I believe slash and burn provides a temporary benefit to fertility. Much of the Brazilian rain forest was slash and burned which provided just 2 years of fertile farming before the ground was devoid of nutrients from the burned forest.
  25. Coopers reeds (aka cattails) should appear in every climate except polar regions. I believe at this time the severe lack of reeds is a bug. You'll probably have to abandon that world a try another one with the same settings. Alternately, you may have to be the nomad until you can find a place with reeds.
