  1. Embellish that event and it's a candidate for the Humorous Stories thread.
  2. Sounds like a "Losing is FUN" game. Them's some pretty harsh conditions.
  3. I concur with @hstone32. Those times need to be recorded and preserved on the Utoobs!
  4. So you spend huge amounts of time banging out stone axes? I suppose that makes sense if your charcoal pit is less than say, 4x4x4. With my world ending industrial center I burn through two trunks of logs for one firing of my charcoal pit. I burn through almost a steel axe just chopping all the firewood. Much faster to smith a steel axe than knap all those stone ones, even if they are obsidian! Not to mention forging an axe is less than 3 minutes if you include heating the ingot. I think knapping more than 8 axe heads would take longer.
  5. Time is already weaponized against me. I focus on getting to tools that don't wear out just because I look at them longingly (looking at you copper) and getting a reliable source of MEAT so I can maximize my caloric intake while I'm galavanting around the galax... err... wandering all over creation gathering ingredients for steel.
  6. In my experience the largest negative stability area I've found is about 200-250 block diameter. In the map you showed, you should definitely have positive stability areas.
  7. I will say the early game has gotten a little easier since I started in 1.14. But most of the early game difficulty is balancing resource gathering against progression while managing the time and limited inventory resources.
  8. I don't know how you did it but apparently
  9. Oh dear. We've been living in the matrix all these centuries until Tyron and Co. go and give us the red pill. Idon'tWantToBeaDrifter,Idon'tWantToBeaDrifter,Idon'tWantToBeaDrifter nine, ten, never sleep again!
  10. Nobody had an issue of it 4 months ago. The OP even reacted positively to both "rude" responses.
  11. Jackie Chan. Definitely Jackie Chan oh master of weaponizing a feeble twig. I won't be surprised when you come on here regaling us of some tale in taking down a bear with a couple of rocks, a stick and a deep pond on May 2, year 0.
  12. *wanders through the thread whistling* *mutters something about uncompromising and survival* *wanders on over to another thread, whistling all the while*
  13. That's not surprising actually. I recall Tyron cautioned tht shenanigans would likely happen in the 1.19 world gen revamp.
  14. What version was the world created in?
  15. As @LadyWYT mentioned, your search area is pretty small. My method of prospecting might help. The third tool I make is a pro pick and I take it with me everywhere. I'll randomly pick a spot to prospect as I'm running about for other things (clay, wild crops, specific trees, reeds, etc). When I want to mine for a specific ore I'll look at the randomly collected readings for the highest one for the ore I'm looking for then begin a more detailed search in that area. Sometimes I've got to go a few thousand blocks to get at least a decent reading to start my finer search. Welcome to VS and have fun!
  16. Alloy Calculator is an must QOL mod for me.
  17. Additionally, the color accurate map will turn white when snow falls and won't update in spring/summer until those chunks are visited.
  18. This is the problem. Incorrect ratio for smelting brass. Like the cookpot, the recipe needs to be right before cooking can start.
  19. Be sure to come prepared. One preparation is to learn from your mistakes. Use that frustration to figure out something different. You're the hero in this story, do you want that story to be Rey Skywalker who somehow magically can out force Darth Vader wanna be who spent years training in the force? The heroes we like hearing stories about struggle and fail before they succeed. Living those stories is even more satisfying.
  20. StepUp mod makes ascending hills very quick if running at an angle and the incline is in single block steps. Can outrun bears going up hill really easily.
  21. 100 gears isn't too hard. Gotta know the right trades. cracked vessels from the Treasure Hunter sells to the Commodities trader, wolf pups in reverse. If you get cinnabar reindeer herder's garb sells for a pretty penny as well (Artisan traders iirc.) Check the handbook for who buys and sells what.
  22. Yeah, when I'm at work I long to log in myself.
  23. Each block must have no less than 50% of it's chisellable voxels to be truly insulating. Basically keep from chiselling a block to less than a slab.
  24. Vertical slabs need to be on the "outside" part of the block, meaning the unused half block is in the room. In your case there should be a half block of space between the items along the wall and the wall itself.
