Tyron shoots for 2 updates a year. Next one will probably be coming up around August since 1.20 started dropping back in Feb.

Some more things I wish I'd known... To identify grass from crops - grass grows in crosses, crops grow in a grid. To keep the screen still when knapping, forging, etc. - press alt or open an inventory screen, like pressing the "C" key. The fastest way to make compost is to let dough rot. Dough converts to rot 1 to 1 ratio unlike most other rot-able foods.

I think the bakers/cooks on multiplayer servers might appreciate this. I built this to grind stuff faster in my single player. No items will fall past the axles so no loss from stuff falling on the floor. I think the pics provide enough info for the build. To connect the axles, place a block for axles to connect to so the angled gears can be connected to the axles. Once the axles are connected to the large gear and querns, the corner chutes can be attached. Each vertical pipe is the same, just rotated 90 degrees.

Looks like you're using granite. Try mixing in some granite drystone and suevite cobble stone. The different textures and suevite's darker shade will help break up the monotony of the granite cobble.

@Rocktavious Welcome to the forums! Your comment would have higher visibility to Tyron and devs if you posted it to the github.

This belongs in the Humorous Stories thread in Discussion forum!

Or excellent joke!

It got me the first time or three as well. I am just hyper anal retentive about making sure I don't waste things (thanks mum and dad) that I figured things out when I couldn't pick up the old basket or linen bag.

Not exactly. I think visiting a bunch of floating islands was the desired outcome.

That is the most deluxe hay bed I've ever seen! Did you have a huge patch of thatch? Otherwise, that is an obscene amount of grass harvesting!

What are some good tips and tricks in locating a ore node?
Maelstrom replied to Ihavenothing364's topic in Questions
Better to overlap than miss that (potentially) bountiful deposit of coveted ore. -
Each backpack slot maps to specific spots in your inventory. The first basket maps to the first three inventory spaces in the top left of your inventory screen. Having just one item in one of those three spaces will lead to the problem that when the basket is exchanged for a backpack, the item will still be in the basket. It sounds like the basket with items dropped tot the ground as an entity and then despawned. Only two things to do about it now. Cheat in said items, or take the lumps from the School of Hard Knocks and find another 40 nuggets of copper.

What are some good tips and tricks in locating a ore node?

Default pro pick reads a 6 block radius from the one broken (13 block diameter) so it is safe to prospect every 10-12 blocks and not miss any potential deposits. -
My beautiful survival house is absolute fire

Mmmm... I think charbroiled is more accurate. -
Start with the handbook ("h"). Read the Starter Guide then the Progression Guide. Assuming you've done that... First day goals - torch, reeds for inventory/storage, 1-2 stacks of clay, 16+ flint. At night (while huddling in dirt shack 1.0) mold clay items (be sure to dig up a stack or two of clay your first day, or better yet, dig a hole in a clay deposit for your initial "dirt shack" 1.0) and knap axe, shovel and knife tool heads. Apart from initial survival (gathering food from berry bushes, mushrooms, etc.) focus on getting copper tools quickly. Along the way, harvest EVERY wild flax plant you find; even the immature ones (wild crops grow geologically fast, as in not at all!), also harvest vegetable (turnip, onion, etc) and rye or spelt crops. Plant said crops on medium fertility soil (unless you're lucky enough to find some high fertility soil (definitely use that if you have it) by placing said soil in a nearby pond/lake so that every crop is adjacent (either on the side or diagonally) to a water block for maximum soil moisture. Starting a charcoal pit asap can make firing those first clay items quicker as charcoal fires a kiln in 10 hours versus 16 or 24 for peat and firewood respectively. Be sure to hunt some animals before winter, cure their hides to make fur clothing (coat, boots and gloves). Targeting an item with your crosshair and hitting "h" will bring up the handbook entry for that item. Targeting a block and hitting "Shift-h" will do the same for the block. Go forth and be horrified (and have fun).

It's safe to dig straight down without ladders, water stream, etc. I'll usually dig down with a stack of ladders to climb back up when I've finished mining. Only once in hundreds of shafts have I fallen into a cave or chamber and even then it was only a dozen or so block drop and didn't do much damage.

Count me the oddball then. I enjoy combat as it currently is and don't think it needs an overhaul. Addition of the shiver and bowtorn has changed combat in a meaningful way for me in that the old strategy no longer works. I've had to come up with different strategies to deal with these new mobs which also changes the overall preparation for a night out on the town or the upcoming storm. I get it that there are those people who are combat experts and current combat leaves a lot to be desired for them. There's lots of us that aren't so combat proficient that increasing combat difficulty would be a huge detractor from the game and could even cause people to quit playing altogether. Similarly, there are those that want a more robust cooking mechanic that are left wanting as well. For both there are mods to adjust their level of enjoyment, which is something Tyron designed into the game AND encourages!

CLYDE?! Is that you? Clyde and his brother Bonnie (not pictured) showed up to help me mine some copper. Considering their work ethic from previous encounters they are definitely NOT allowed in the mines! Here's the beginning of the mine, about 2,100 blocks from my home. Clyde was waiting for me when I emerged with a full inventory of copper. Most of the deposit was poor quality, unfortunately.
