  1. Not even that, anything that those authorities feel is not appropriate for young adults. I did not verify a claim I heard and its a bit hard to do so retroactively but from my understand Youtube censored the Chinese military parade from kids using this tool. So although, not considering that unverified example, the new laws might appear to be benign to many one must understand that its entirely up to the government to decide what is or is not appropriate for young children to see and that can often times be really hard to interpret. Now having a centralized authority deciding for parents what is or is not appropriate for their own children aside for the moment, the main concern is I think all of this data for your face or drivers license is being held by one company world wide. That is concerning, never mind the fact that its been shown age can be reliability verified by photos of ones hand. Grammar is not my best, hopefully all that is readable.
  2. When it comes to proportion I do not think it matters.I am also on Explorer mode but again, proportion matters more than anything else. What do I mean by that? Well in previous versions it took about 3 hits on a pig to kill it, now it takes me about 3 hits on a pig to kill it (although how to hit requires more patience) . So, if in your world it takes 5 hits, then it would be reasonable to assume its 5 hits now. Same is true if you do not throw it and instead use it as melee, whatever it was before the update appears to be likely the same now (at least for copper and for animals in the same hitpoint range as a pig). Additionally I heard there is something called 'critical hit' and I am not sure how that mechanics works. I am playing the update currently, I know some people are not and that is reasonable I totally get that, but I might be able to provide insight to the game experience by playing it in a way that others who are not playing it might not be able to provide. That is not to say I am 100% accurate, I am just saying I am playing the game if you know what I mean. also, keep in mind all this stuff is subject to change at a moments notice and if I had to guess they would factor in feedback from discord before inspecting the forums for feedback. That is not to say they would ignore the forums or even to suggest its intentional, its just discord is where they live the most when it comes to updates, bug reports etc so they will see that feedback first.
  3. I have no idea, I just know I do not make leather until I get copper and limestone/chalk. I really am not clever enough to infer how other people do it without copper and lime
  4. I am currently playing the update and I killed a boar with a copper spear in two hits the first time, three hits the second time. The difference between the two is that the first time I was crouched for each throw. Now using a spear takes more work and patience than before because the aiming is slower and where to put the hitbox is more 'acurrate' (meaning less need to account for arc. Like I said earlier, in my opinion it might be a good idea to play the game a bit before going too far into diagnosing it.
  5. I am a commoner and I just killed a boar with two hits using a copper spear on v1.22 Both hits I was crouched, however, the second time I did it, it took three hits because one time I threw it I was standing. It takes a lot longer for the spear to get is targeting down but at the same times its more accurate (meaning less need to compensate for throw). It might be a good idea to try out the features before investing too much time in diagnosing them in my opinon.
  6. Just so everyone understands. Leather making is not possible until you have cooper. Fishing easily provides all the meat one could want in the early game, arguably even up to mid game (for meat only) Speaking personally I usually do not even go hunting anyway until I have copper spears and that is in the previous versions. I am not sure but I think 3 hits with a copper spear kills a pig, I think 3 hits with a copper spear still kills a pig. What am I missing or am incorrect one?
  7. yeah I know there is a lot of depends but its a go to for me and it works well. Granted it depends on my roll of the location and terrain type etc but. 1. if you put a pit kiln in the corner of your room you A. do not have to worry about fire spreading in two directions because there is a wall there already and B. you already have cover. 2. If you end up building a 2 block radius around your pitkilns outside because its not rock, well that is a lot of blocks that could be part of the house. 3. it provides light inside so that monsters do not spawn. 4. if you need the space and a pit kiln is over, its easy to modify your design by flling one of the pits with a block. Is it bullet proof? no but its a solid go to for me which as worked on countless restarts.
  8. I would change the floor to anything that does not grow grass (packed dirt is quick). You do not have pitkilns which can catch local grass on fire but I personally would do it regardless. On the subject of pit kilns, if I had to guess most people put them outside. I however do not. Since I already have walls and already have a floor that is not flammable I tend to put my starter pit kiln inside, usually about three. I get three started, do other things and by the time I feel like I really need more clay work done those three are usually out and ready for pickup.
  9. yes that is normal, when you get closer it will come together better
  10. they are currently not functional. Not as in 'broken' but rather not competed yet so although some devices are in the handbook they do not work
  11. Yeah I know, that is why I said early game. My point is, you have a meat source until you can get a copper spear. and fishing poles requires 3 rope and 3 sticks. Its not hard to get fishing going and in about 1 min of fishing I had 11 meat. I am currently playing the release candidate ADDED: cant make leather without copper. so copper spears
  12. Just FYI folks. Fishing now give a lot of meat protein and it can be cooked in meals just as red meat. So the early game meat is most likely going to be fishing. When multiple changes happens sometimes its the combination of all those changes that make things more balanced than one might assume at first. However, at the moment for us playing the game there is an issue with at least Boars, if not all animals, that as soon as their run mechanic starts while hunting them, they instantly fly about 30 blocks away, which is likely the same distance they would run until they slow down. It makes hunting pretty much not possible for now For fun, later I am going to spawn some in an enclosed space and see if they bounce around like crazy.
  13. Anyone playing the release candidate and try to kill a boar? Its super funny, do it guys
  14. I know! Imagine it 1200 hours in 7 days to die, most likely 1000 hours in Vintage Story and most likely 3000 hours in Wurm its almost as if there appears to be a gross misunderstanding somewhere
  15. I think I have done everything except collect butterflies and the story locations, not even RA
  16. its not really a conversation about 'I cant find ways around it' (which I can) its a conversation about game design. Regardless, I can not delete the thread and I would if I could.
  17. 1. I did not say 'bother you'. try again. I literally said the exact opposite for 'bother'. you are saying its a major ATTRACTION I think I am nearly done interacting with you on this. EDIT: I am saying this to be as honest as I can and as non-rude as I can but I think we are done, I am sorry but this is not going to go well so lets cut it off now.
  18. On the first quote: I just do not believe you that feature we have described (monsters spawning in your base area and lighting distracting you) in this game huge motivator for you compared to other games. sorry I am not going to buy that at any price, I am immutable on that so moving on. On the second quote: I am trying to explain to you that random encounters while traveling in D&D is fundamentally not what I am talking about because its actually NOT an interruption in the way I am describing it.
  19. 1. I approve of the approach of 'going to the danger' rather than the danger coming to your base. aka..RA, so I very much approve of a approach to adventure like the RA provides. 2. So you are saying one of the major compelling reasons you like VS over PC is because monsters spawn around your base and interrupt your work even though they really do not impact your game play and are more of an annoyance like ants? Maybe I misunderstand but to be frank, if you are making that assertion I do not believe it. I have never seen in video or on multiplayer anyone ever do anything other than basically 'hold on a second let me smash these guys and we will get back to what we are doing' as nothing more than a distraction. 3. wandering encounters is NOT the same 'interruptions' I am speaking of in my mind. When you hit that trail you are ready, you are set, you are planning for an attack. When you are building a home, your mind is in deep on the design of the house, you are thinking of where what goes your head is in a different space which is why I am trying to illustrate the difference clearly with great difficulty Regarding mods for the solution of deeds to be frank, I just rather set all hostiles to passive and I am all set. I am just blueskying how I think game design should work even though I personally have a way around it. I also completely refuse to have TP instability telling me where I can and can not build, I aint having any of that on my own personal game
  20. Basically, goat domestication to max gen takes longer than a major update in which you will want to restart anyway. and I am actually ok with that, but I used to play Wurm so I aint right in the head of course
  21. I think we are all getting WAY ahead of ourselves. The balance I am sure is subject to change during the rc phase, that is in part the entire point of a 'early access' approach. I think its best to wait until playing the rc and see how the balance feels before making decisions on very nuanced changes
  22. 1. ok, you do not use cooper weapons and rusts are not a threat even before 5 hours, proving my underling point. I find it hard to believe that you prefer Vintage Story over Planet Crafters BECAUSE of drifters spawning in your base area or BECAUSE TP storms are mandatory. do you see my point yet? My underling point contains three features and ONLY three features in question (these are the only features I consider to be 'interuptions' in respect to what I am talking about). its exclusively only these three aspects. Perhaps I should have mentioned that from the start. A. monster spawns in bases B. TP storms mandatory C. animals attacking you in the forest So in the context of VS vs PC I find it hard to believe that the REASON you like VS more the PC is specifically because of those three aspects of the game 2. ok, so having Deeds and having the point of Deeds is to not have monster spawns or TP storms is a reasonable idea, yes? 3. I do not agree, I get the same 'speed run' feeling while playing PC as I do playing VS in early game, not mid or late game but definitively early game and I am sticking with my view that this is not subjective.
  23. 1. In Vintage Story within about 5 hours you are going to have copper weapons, at that point even though monsters spawn on your deed they are not remotely close to a threat, they are more like flies. Before your first 5 hours if a monster spawns in your home its something more important, after you get copper its really not a big deal. Having played most likely 1000 hours and on multiplayer servers as well would you say my description there is fairly accurate or am I way off? How about this idea: A simple craft and you can have a Deed Stake. You can only have one Deed Stake, without purchasing more from a trader. That Deed Stake will give you a 15x15 block 'safe zone'. In that zone storms do not happen and monsters do not spawn and in fact, botorns do not throw spears at you from the outside of that Deed area. If you want to expand your deed you can by a deed expander from any merchant and it is an incremental cost, the larger expansion the more it costs. Now here is what might be the best part. You can choose NOT to have a deed at all. Even though I struggle to understand why anyone would want to be interrupted by drifters while planning out a house is beyond me this could be an intresting game play that could work for everyone. let me guess...no way 2. Why do I bring up Planet Crafter or KSP: because, like I have said, in PC and KSP you still have the thrill of the task, its still a rush, its still a hurry and yet there is no interruptions. I believe rather strongly that the attraction to game play is really the cadence between input to reward and tasks ahead and as long as that cadence is good it really does not matter what is being done, however, interruptions conflicts with that cadence. 3. I have no idea why you like VS more than PC but its NOT because you like drifters spawning in your base or have a great desire for TP storms. That much I am very confident in.
  24. again. its not about randomness, its about 'interruptions'. You finally made it back to the town and you are sorting out your bill at the Inn, sorting your belonging and BAM the DM then magically rolls you out of what you are doing and pushes you into a 1 week adventure in some cave that you were magically transported too while you were trying to pay your bill. thanks for understanding
  25. ok but for the purposes of this conversation lets all try (myself included) to focus the conversation on 'interruptions' and not just 'RNG'. The reason I say that is because the difference in general context would be unimportant however in this conversation its critical and its very easy to accidently get it off rails (and I am speaking to me as much as anyone else). On that note, I do not think you prefer Vintage Story over Planet Crafters because of the 'interruptions' it provides which realistically only affects the first 5 hours of game play, outside of wolves to be fair. I also think its extremely disingenuous for others to suggest 'well castiron I think this kind of game is not for you' when what I am talking about makes up most likely less than 5% of the game play and to be completely frank the VAST majority of players do not come here because they are hyper compelled to play 'interruption' simulator that this specific game would provide which again only happens in the first 5 hours of game play. They come here to explore and build. Also as a point of reflection, I am a big fan of cave diving as it is, I see that as 'planned randomness' I find monsters spawning in your area to be distracting, unpleasant and pointless in a way that should not even have a possible alteration to make it have a point and most importantly I would love to fully understand why someone would like that specific game play as it is and as it could be (again 'interruption' not just rng). Why do they insist that having monsters spawn on what would be a person 'deed' is critical game play that should never be changed. I see suggestions for all kinds of changes in general but that one specific change just seems to be universally rejected, despite the fact that is it likely the most bland part of the entire game.
