  1. Why ever would you jump to the conclusion that they cannot manage to improve enemy AI? That seems needlessly negative and pessimistic (and is without merit), and does not help to persuade me to your position.
  2. I think Tyron already said that he would pivot them to working on making VS better.
  3. The end of Hytale has resulted in an unexpected windfall of talent - talent that is already immersed and up-to-speed on the skills and thought processes necessary for the proposed new project. This could very well be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Anego Studios and I'm glad that Tyron has the forethought to see the value that diversifying presents to the overall success and longevity of his company. The new team would not detract from the existing team in any way; quite the opposite since overlapping mechanics (such as combat and improved enemy AI) will be shared between the two teams. That is a huge win for Vintage Story! Bottom line: I trust Tyron's vision and his ability to see the bigger picture. He has a proven track record for thoughtfully considering the options, preferring long-term success over short-term profits.
  4. This looks like a good one to report: Issue Tracker There are some open tickets involving pies. I think this one might be the same issue you're talking about, but I'm not certain.
  5. So I broke down and installed 1.21 - I know, I know, to heck with stable versions, I need to see that new WorldGen! I have a question about the customized shortcut that allows me to install multiple versions. In the 1.21 Mods folder is a text file that says: I've been using a desktop shortcut that redirects the data to be kept under the Game directory -- Target: C:\Games\Vintagestory\VS21\Vintagestory.exe --dataPath=C:\Games\Vintagestory\VS21 Should my old dataPath have \VintageStoryData added to the end? ( --dataPath=C:\Games\Vintagestory\VS21\VintageStoryData ) Maybe it should have been that way all along?

    Fog issue

I suppose a temporary solution would be to use Apache's AccessibilityTweaks Mod, press F8, and uncheck "fog" from the "Weather Effects" tab. It's a bit of an inconvenience, but might be worth it when you'll be indoors for awhile.
  7. I am so excited for this!! It's going to be hard to wait for a more stable version to come to the account manager.
  8. Oh! I see what you mean now, thank you for the explanation.
  9. Thank you for this. I've corrected my statement above with this addition: "eta: it is my inexperienced belief that you can go chunk by chunk to land already generated and force it to be regenerated; it will regenerate under the new 1.21 parameters -- again, I am not experienced with this at all and may not be understanding it correctly" I believe that is what Tyron meant when he said, "These 2 changes specifically either need a new world or /wgen regen x around the area yea." ...but of course I've only read replies to other people asking questions about regenerating land and have never done it myself; I may have completely misunderstood the whole process (or my information could be outdated since I'm thinking back to discussions on discord and I haven't even been there for several years). If I'm wrong, please let me know so that I can correct my post(s). I don't want to be giving incorrect information.
  10. It will only be for new worlds and for areas of an old world that have never been loaded. If you'd like to apply it to an old world, there is a way to do that (eta: it is my inexperienced belief that you can go chunk by chunk to land already generated and force it to be regenerated; it will regenerate under the new 1.21 parameters -- again, I am not experienced with this at all and may not be understanding it correctly). As Tyron stated above (snip) Correction: If you'd like to apply it to an old world, there is not a way to do that. DarkThoughts explains why in these posts below: https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/topic/16123-v1210-pre1-story-chapter-2-redux/?page=2#findComment-75434 https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/topic/16123-v1210-pre1-story-chapter-2-redux/?page=2#findComment-75441
  11. That's odd. It works for me.
  12. Nice video! Thank you for the recommend, she looks like someone I'd enjoy watching!
  13. The Refund Policy says: "You should receive a full refund within about a week after your refund request." so it will not be a gift card. If you paid by credit card, I would expect the refund to appear on your credit card too. For hours spent, the only way that I'm aware is when choosing your world (it shows how much time you've spent in that world right below that savefile's name). Other than that, I do not know. I hope this helps! eta: this is assuming you made the purchase through the Vintage Story website. If made through Humble or itch.io, their refund policies may be different.
  14. Personally, I manually take the savefile and copy it to another folder, adding a number to it to differentiate it from other copies that will be made at a later date. The default location for savefiles is in Roaming/VintagestoryData/Saves (and the corresponding map is in /Maps). There are also folders "Backup" and "BackupSaves", but I've never done backups from within the game. If that is what you've done, the file will probably be in one of those 2 folders. I'm sure there is a more elegant way of getting to Roaming, but I just navigate through the folders (hidden files & folders are viewable on my PC) - Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming.
  15. What you describe can also be the result of "Dry Eye" which is a medical condition. It has several possible causes, one of them being that the meibomian glands are not functioning properly. An optometrist or ophthalmologist can tell you if this is what you are dealing with, although one that specializes in Dry Eye will have diagnostic equipment (for imaging the meibomian glands and testing tear quality, among other things) to be specific as to what is causing the problem, and they will also have the equipment for treatment.
  16. Is it the fighting aspect of hunting that you don't like, or were you hoping to play as a vegetarian? Tip: Rabbits are attracted to crops. If you plant something and dig a trench around it (must be minimum 2 blocks deep) they may fall into the trench and you can club them to death (crafting grid, I think a club requires a knife and a block of wood). eta: you needn't water the crop, just it being planted is enough -- or at least that used to be the case; I've not done this in a while. Tip: You could go into creative mode until you get more comfortable with hunting. The animals will not react to you, which gives you a chance to develop some skill in spear throwing. If you're hoping to play as a vegetarian, you could change the number of days it takes for berries to mature. The time was recently increased quite a bit, but you could set it to the former time with this command (hit "t" to open the chat box, and paste it there): /worldconfigcreate float cropGrowthRateMul 2 The value of 2 takes it to the old rate of 4 days to bloom and 4 days to ripen. Valid values are 0.1 to 10. I hope this helps!
  17. I do not think there is any truly dry vegetation in the game (well, maybe dead acacia trees and some mature crops). Perhaps it really means that fires will not start when it is raining.
  18. Do keep checking back at the Luxury trader too. Their inventory and requests do change regularly. There is a string of text just above the thumbnails that shows how many more days until things switch up.
  19. Good to know! Thank you, @Dilan Rona
  20. You can also have multiple installations of VS and play whichever one you want (this is what I do). Look at this guide by Streetwind. But, in answer to your question, a new installation should not delete save files*. If you want to be extra certain, you can always copy the save file to a different location. *Of course you won't be able to play that save in 1.20.8 unless it was last saved in 1.20.8. Once it has been saved in 1.20.9, it is no longer compatible with 1.20.8 (or at least that is my belief; please correct if I'm wrong).
  21. No, you would each need to have an account. You'll have so much fun! Wish I could get my husband to play.
  22. If that is the case, is it possible that one of your friends is being pranked? Maybe left their password out where someone else got ahold of it?
  23. Okay, when you want to hone in on the ore reading, switch to node-mode (holding your prospecting pick, press F). Instead of trying to write it out how to narrow down your search (easier to say than to write), here is a video explaining it - he starts speaking specifically to node-mode about the 8:50 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CBlbhvq43I
  24. Apple Support assures me that Command-C is the keyboard shortcut you would use for Copy, and Command-V is the shortcut for paste. The Command key apparently looks like a 4-leaf clover? You can see for yourself at this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102650
  25. Yup! It's from Better Ruins. um... this will be a spoiler, so maybe don't look. But "Mansion" is one of the storyline structures of Better Ruins. https://github.com/NicIAss/betterruins/wiki/story-structures
