Sometimes when I'm traveling long distances, I'll randomly start a peat fire for the fun of it. It's pretty funny looking at the map and seeing the land deform days after you set the initial flame.

For funsies... what has been your worst base decision?

Trying to make a windmill house entirely out of Brown Bricks. -
Sounds like a deposit of Peat Moss caught on fire. Do you have the option that allows lightning to start fires enabled?

Only if the lack of fiber makes it hard for our sarif to poo.

The vastly underestimate what you can accomplish with just flint. That's what you said last time.
-
All you need is a cooking pot, bowl, crucible, and pick and hammer molds. I highly doubt one can miss a mound of clay while hunting for copper chunks. Hell, even scanning the map for signs of a wetland will net you results.

Erm, yes actually. It's a reliable source of consistent copper, flint, and clay. Granted, you're not going to end up with oodles of clay, but you'd have more than enough for the bare essentials.
-
Clay is definitely an integral resource to have, especially starting out. It's also required throughout every tier of progression. That being said, it's also the simplest to aquire. Newer players don't seem to understand the power panning provides. It will get you flint, copper, clay, and other more rare resources you'd be hard pressed acquiring later on. As long as you are able to find 2 stones for knapping, 1 stick for a tool's shaft, and a tree, you will have access to a wide variety of valuable resources.

I definitely encountered the phantom lighting quite a bit after leaving torches to burn out in caves. They tend to go away after a bit though.

steam Are the developers ready to launch Vintage Story on Steam?
marmarmar34 replied to Yappi Door's topic in Questions
Im quite confused over the discourse. It's not like VS can't be sold anywhere else if it's on Steam or GoG. As for mods, plenty of games still use third party sites instead of the workshop. Deep Rock Galactic immediately comes to mind. Hell, people still go on gamebanana and moddb to mod valve's own games! It just feels like a bunch of ho-humming. There really isn't a tangible downside to dropping it on other storefronts later down the line. -
Very cool that you're showing off knapping! I'd probably use the auto knapping and smithing mod because I can see that cramping me up after a while.

I always see stuff regarding cold resistance and alcohol, but I'll be the outlier and say it should do the opposite! In reality, all it does is make you feel warm, but it's actually cooling your entire body! There are far too many horror stories about people going out to pee in the cold at parties, only to be found dead from hypothermia! It's no joke, and the misinformation needs to be stopped!

Built a massive windmill, can run 12 pulverizers but not even 1 quern?
marmarmar34 replied to kaydragxn's topic in Questions
Does it spin out and stop? If so, give it some time. It might just be calculating the amount of power it needs before starting again. Other than that, I'm not sure there's any sort of hard cap that causes that to happen. -
You can also invest in basket traps for passive meat. Flax grain has terrible satiety, so it's wonderful for catching chickens! Tossing spears into ponds for fish was also my go to early meat resource.

As you progress you'll be drowning in copper, and the helve hammer will make plates effortlessly. It's mostly about esthetics, I personally find them prettier than oil lanterns which are considerably more economic. I also like to nab every single torch holder I find in ruins, they make for beautiful rough light spots alongside your pathways.

How about of instead of losing HP, it reduces your max air capacity for a few hours.
