  1. You mean, like staying inside at night? Keeping an eye on your Sanity wheel? Tracking the Rift activity in your menu? Staying on the move and keeping your head on a swivel? Keeping your sight lines open?
  2. There is a difference between "hurts" and "causes damage" Would any of you say that you've received a lasting injury from bumping into a cactus? I sure wouldn't.
  3. I feel like that's a lot of recoding to complicate a system that's easy to grasp and adapt to.
  4. it's to simulate angle of repose If you just dump it all on one space in a big open area, it actually makes a really pleasing pile
  5. Also, the bodkin
  6. Combat Overhaul's author already has gun mod.
  7. 3-4 deep hole takes care of most animals. Prey animals will randomly fall in, then the predators will fall in looking for food (the prey animals)
  8. Dunno about you, but I'm not terribly pleased with oaks being a 7x7x7 solid block on a stick
  9. Likely because they are New World crops, same reason we don't have corn.
  10. Only a brainchild between Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin and Farming Simulator 2025, but in VS will satisfy me. And the Threshing mod should be vanilla.
  11. I think we could store world gen as ASCI Dwarf Fortress style in the background, then render graphics as the player comes upon them, rather than doing it all at once and leading to strange artefacts when the player is discovering zones too quickly. It would allow the computer to frontload the generation and keep track of interactable environmental effects (erosion, rivers rolling downhill etc) and ostensibly speed up loading.
  12. Yeah, it says that creatures are dangerous and the squishy fleshbeast known as the Player must use every advantage he can muster to overcome this challenge before his technologies can compensate.
  13. Well, if specifically the wiki page for Rickety Translocator wasn't FUBAR, we'd be able to check.
  14. ...then just don't screw up? Get a bloomery that outputs materials as ingots? Get a power hammer that will automatically generate plates from ingots? What is your work tempo that you're grabbing and placing three ingots so quickly that you don't register how many ingots you've placed? You place one, select Plate, flatten it all out, place the next one, flatten it all out, scoot the last bits into the gaps, DING, plate finished.
  15. so you'd basically be laying on the floor of the boat, which negates the entire usefulness of a hammock. May as well just let us sleep on the benches at that point. Which would be neat. Probably somewhere around them not having crew quarters, weaponry and dedicated cargo space would inform us that this is a travel vessel rather than another type of vessel. And yes, obviously, Vikings slept on their boats. On the benches. Without hammocks. There is no scenario there. Age of Discovery vessels had decks and hammocks and crows nests and all the things you're looking for, ergo, you are looking for something more akin to an Age of Discovery vessel. Much like if I were to go into a restaurant and order spaghetti, but ask for a layer of cheese and larger noodles. I may be asking for spaghetti, but I'd be looking for something more akin to lasagna. Block caps is because I keep forgetting this forum has full formatting, hahaha. Well, no. Ratlines are for maintaining and operating the sails. They're not meant to go anywhere.
  16. ...you only have to get below, like, light level 7 in VS, oil lamps aren't the only option you have for illumination, and even then, they can be placed, what, 8 apart? That's one each building.
  17. Hammocks need to be attached to things on both ends: Where are you securing a hammock in the sailboat that doesn't put it at an angle? Furthermore, hammocks were a belowdecks thing, protected from the elements. The sailboats we have now are travel vessels, Viking style. Unless they've introduced another set of ships since I've played last, you are talking about a COMPLETELY SEPARATE size and style of boat to the open-topped sail rig in VS right now. You're looking for something more along the lines of an Age of Discovery sloop, caravel or larger. The current sailboat has no deck, you would be standing on the keel. (Though yes I'd like to be able to stand in it) No crows nest because, again, too small of a boat and not the right period of vessel. The mast is merely the width of a man, where on this tapered structure are they going to fit a crows nest in any meaningful manner? Much less any discussion about the amplified motion one would experience on that long of a lever with that tiny of a vessel.
  18. Let us not forget, that wells require aquifers. You'd change a major portion of the game (mining, caving) if wells.
  19. Right. I forgot who I was talking to. Bear is delicious, gator, snake etc. Also: Chickens are predators.
  20. Is THIS where that mechanic came from?! Dude, gimme back my bear steaks. People live off that.
  21. Updoot because I like the word plumbata.
  22. ...but that's hunting, though. Do you think we all put a stick the width of a pencil through a heart the size of a softball, between the ribs, at fifty paces, with every single shot?
  23. You have steel tools. Give'em The Bonk. If you scare, build armor. I support blasting methods for mining, myself.
  24. Oh yes, I'd love to put the average daily input of an electrical power plant into every single one of my smithing projects because coal burns in VS about as long as it does in OBG. /s
