Residue Covered Cooking Pot in 1.20

I have been unable to clean my residue covered cooking Pot.

The description matches the change made to the game, which is we can no longer clean a residue covered cooking pot.

My question is, how do we prevent said cooking pot from getting residue in the first place?

I used to leave mine on the fire pit. I now do not do that and I put it in water after use but I do not know yet if this prevents it from getting dirty

best solution is to make a second one really. one for cooking food, and a dedicated one for making the resin glue.

I am nearly positive I have never cooked anything other than food in both of those pots.

I do, however, leave it on the firepit empty.

EDIT: Maybe candle, both times. I am not sure but that is a possible

Yes, making candles causes pot to be residue-covered. Just found this thread after doing so.

Handbook does not list any ways of cleaning it:

Covered in grime, can no longer be used for meal-making

A cooking pot used to cook up glue or other non-food recipes becomes caked in residue. A residue-covered cooking pot cannot be used for meal-making with food ingredients, but is still quite handy for other purposes.

That said, the "toss it in water" technique works for removing rotten food off a crock (and presumably a pot too, but I haven't tested that).

I recall the first update where candles were made in a cook pot not crafting grid.   After making my first batch found a cookpot that was contaminated for food, forgetting I had cooked candles in it previously though cooking food near an active rift caused cookpots to be covered with inedible residue.

Hmmm...   Maybe there's a humorous story in there...
