Krähenwolf Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 In short, there were two of us looting the Library simultaneously in the new savefile. Once we had collected all books, we noticed that some of them were duplicates (The Weight of Stone, Part 1-4 is doubled, for example). The first time, one of us was looting and the other was listening to the resonator, so we only got one copy of each, but now we didn't think of the implications of two people looting and opening the books at the same time. Since we wanted to continue our tradition of building a library with all Lore books and tapestries in the village, is there a possibility of getting the last volumes of the story by panning and trading? Or is this file cursed with incomplete stories now?
Zane Mordien Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 I get duplicate books all the time as a single player. You can get books from panning bony soil, loot chests, and maybe merchants. 1

The wiki seems to say so; and I have only panned books from the "Letters", "Tobias", and "Falx" subset so far, so I was not sure.

Yes* *In a normal, unmodified save, you won't be able to get new books in the library. You can however regenerate the Resonate Archives with the /wgen command {WIKI}. This WILL reset the whole place, but once you get back to the Library, you can then re-remove the books from the shelf. I would recommend doing it whilst inside the Library; that way you don't need to refight the Eidolon. 2

Just a side note, but if you switch to spectator/creative and fly over the barricade, or have a mod that allows you to climb over the barricade, you can still skip the fight. Friend has such a mod installed on his server, and we discovered the other day that we could climb the barricade and skip the fight entirely(though we did go fight the eidolon anyway). 2

Don't you need a drop from Eidolon to progress to story line 2? Just asking for a friend ;)

It shouldn't be possible--I believe that's been patched. The barricade I was referring to is the one blocking the hallway to the library, forcing you to drop into the hole and fight the eidolon under normal circumstances. There was once a bug that let you "bounce" over it, that has since been fixed, but you can still bypass the fight and get to the library that way if you have the means to get over the wall. There's no invisible barriers to stop you. 9 minutes ago, HalfAxd said: Don't you need a drop from Eidolon to progress to story line 2? Just asking for a friend //us.invision.zone/r268468/emoticons/wink.png You do not. The drop is just to help you acquire an elk to help you travel. You actually don't need to visit the Archive at all to progress the storyline, as it's possible to essentially skip to the end of chapter 2 if you know what to look for. However, you'll miss out on a lot of interesting lore by doing that, and it's highly unlikely you'll be able to achieve such events anyway as it would mean finding certain very hard to find things without using a map. But it is possible, in theory.

One more question, though: If I use this command when I am in the library, is the machine un-fixed, so will the doors be locked?
ifoz Posted May 2, 2025 Report Posted May 2, 2025 When more than one person is looting the library, the game is confused and gives books based on what each individual player has discovered. The books aren't meant to have duplicates, but when multiple people loot the library, it can get messed up and create duplicates, which then makes it so you cannot get all of the entries since those books have been used. 1

Yes, the machine (named Immobilized Eidolon) will be fixed, and ready to attack again. The puzzles will also be reset, so you would have to hunt for those parts again. 1

On my 1.20.9 save that was created in 1.18.0, I can easily access all those ledges in the Eidolon world, by flying up to them. However, I just created a fresh, random-seed 1.20.9 world, and there is an invisible barrier to those ledges. They're there whilst the Eidolon is alive, and also while he's dead. They're also double sided, so one can't fall off the ledges. I didn't complete this Resonate Archives, merely broke through the wall above the Library door.

They really had to make sure nobody could skip that fight, I was surprised with the invisible walls after the fight when I was searching around the boss room for an exit after killing it.

I'm using one of the step-up mods and I think that is helping me jump up over the barricade... thankfully...I'm not a fan of the boss fight.

My first run through the RA was in 1.19, managed some RNG luck and squirmed my way over the pile of rubble. Descending the library in the dark was way cool and then the reveal of it after lighting the gasifier made the experience even better! I think that was a much better first experience of the library than the one intended. 2

Places a lot more focus upon the resonator in the center, with all the shelves on the outskirts dimmed significantly.
Maelstrom Posted May 7, 2025 Report Posted May 7, 2025 Another reason I wish I could relocate to the RA after deactivating Murphy.
