Enjen Posted June 26, 2025 Report Posted June 26, 2025 I am in a state of being and not being. I am a person who has immense passion for this game and what will become of it. I believe in the developers and have no doubt their vision will come to fruition! I have not progressed far in the game (I barely made Charcoal for the first time yesterday! Ha!) and keep finding myself wanting to participate in the forums but have nothing of substance to add because I'm so inexperienced! I just wanted to share how strongly I feel for the game but can't do anything with this feeling Hahaha. I'm currently doing my best to learn C# though, so that's something! Does anyone else feel this? 7

I think players posting about their inexperience, whether it be through asking questions or just sharing stories about what they learned and how, adds quite a lot of substance to the forums. What those posts do is leave behind a set of footprints that all the new players that come after can follow in order to help them understand the game better themselves. As a more veteran player, those kinds of posts also tend to be fairly fun to read as a reminder of my own days learning the ropes. 9 1 1

I still can’t figure anything to add to the forums and I’m 44 hours into my world (still hasn’t even been a year!) and so far my biggest consider is a design for ceiling of a bar out of all things, (I haven’t even added the walls yet) which isn’t really a forum question. 1

Hahaha I totally get it man! It's like something niche in your head and you think "How for it forumlate this into a forum post for discussion?" Or something along those lines. I'd love to see pictures once your design comes to life! 5 hours ago, LadyWYT said: I think players posting about their inexperience, whether it be through asking questions or just sharing stories about what they learned and how, adds quite a lot of substance to the forums. I'll take what you said to heart miss dragon I agree leaving footsteps or a paper trail would not only be fun to look back on but also allow new players to follow! 1
Never Jhonsen Posted June 27, 2025 Report Posted June 27, 2025 With one exception of trying to seek help in 2022, I didn't start posting on the forums until 4 and a half real world years after buying the game Everyone's different 1

You two are already contributing to the forum! And helping each other I might add!
FlareUKCS Posted June 27, 2025 Report Posted June 27, 2025 I tend to just add when it adds some value, in my estimate, because I just want to add to the forums so I will often go quiet for long times, its not I lost interest its simply I have nothing to add at that time. 1

Thorfinn Posted June 27, 2025 Report Posted June 27, 2025 Also, from my early days in the game, just seeing others having the same troubles I was took away the lure of the "Rage Quit" button. Lots of us grogs tend to lose sight of things like starvation or wildlife or domestication or bees or prospecting or other challenges like, "What the heck am I supposed to be doing now!" that seem so formidable early on. I was a lot like @Never Jhonsen -- long time lurker. 2

I just drop some blocks into shapes to cope with this feeling, and that's already enough for people to become inspired or to solve their own troubles in regards to building and/or chiseling, lol 2
Daev Posted June 28, 2025 Report Posted June 28, 2025 I feel this sentiment a lot! It's been a couple months since I've hopped on but the passion is still their and it still felt like christmas to see an update pre-release come out! Probably gonna hop on it just to see the new ocean ambience. The screenshots looked really promising in Tyron's update.
idiomcritter Posted June 29, 2025 Report Posted June 29, 2025 from the smallest of glimpse, seems i've seen a few or more posts from your direction the like button is a worthy tribute. much like life, newly born (ie inexperienced) players are arriving with basic questions (frustrations?). the contrast of knowing can be seen? the struggle is real? sharing the experience? (like the other day i'm running thru a grassy mostly flat area, when suddenly a hole larger than can be jumped over, with no bottom in sight...)

I've been trying to contribute when it feels right I did utilize the like button quite a bit! But apparently there is a limit on reactions!!! O: Very poetic! Thank you

That's precisely what I want to do! When I was a kid, I had part in making some rather simple mods with a friend for another game in the past. Don't remember the download counts, but we received a bit of money on the sheer amount of downloads by placing an ad website before the download, so we technically got paid off of the short ads whenever someone downloaded the mod, which was a thing my friend suggested because many people were doing it at that time. We received some positive feedback and generated over 120k views altogether, as well as having multiple content creators showcase them. It was a hot time for mods and content creators alike. Now I would rather work on a project that I fully own (have a few tiny ones), but Vintage Story is worth modding for.

Unless you don't have ladders or blocks with you. WAIT, what about that pickaxe, you say? Yeah, busted it mining the iron deposit and pitched stuff to make room for the iron I mined. Now, it would have been better to be faced with rage quitting or respawning. >sigh< first world problems I guess. 1

It's rudimentary compared to C++, but it's fine. C# is a whole other animal. It's Microsoft's answer to Java. And as the saying goes, "Anything Microsoft touches is worse by default." Now I wonder if Python has graphics libraries that would enable someone to make a video game. 2

Oh my goodness, the hours I have spent wanting to throw the Microsoft team into a lake while trying to simply get access to play Microsoft games I payed for. I have written my rants about them.

I dabbled in Python before and is much more digestible than C#. But VS uses C# I must learn! 10 hours ago, Rudometkin said: Now I would rather work on a project that I fully own (have a few tiny ones), but Vintage Story is worth modding for.
