Given the snarky humor in the game, what do you think achievements would look like?

I'm thinking things like:

"Ice Bucket Challenge - Accepted" when someone freezes to death (beautifully paired with "Congratulations! You died.")
"Pin Cusion" after multiple deaths to bowtorns.
"PhD - Pile it Higher and Deeper" upon stacking peat to world heigh limit.
"To the Moon" upon stacking firewood to world height limit.

What are your additions?

Butterfly collector

A playthrough I actually started, which was a descent into utter madness once I realised how many there were and all the spawn limitations! It's made all the more frustrating (and I suppose realistic) in that butterflies don't have tool tips, you have to identify them based on their patterns it wont tell you the type until it's in your inventory. Lots of lovely cottage core mods for butterfly collecting, but I honestly can't imagine the hours you'd have to play in survival to collect the lot.

For anyone wondering, here's the butterfly wiki page. (edit: expand the [butterfly spawning] section)

I notice a lot of theses are challenge runs, just dieing, or near impossible (punching a bear to death). There’s some obvious ones such as:

Filling up all the nutrition bars to the max.

Having a windmill power something.

making a full set of metal armor

To slightly more out of your way

seeing the northern light.

Making all the types of bronze

fully taming an elk

This is the main purpose of achievements, no? Pushing players to do things nigh impossible, or that they wouldn't normally do, purely for the sake of bragging rights.

I see achievements in other games as a sort of metric of "Oh the player made it this far" which I guess is okay, but it's also kind of crazy when you get an achievement just for making your first flint knife and then look and see that only 75% of the people who own the game have that achievement like... okay... so 25% of the people who have this game just haven't even played it???

Those kinds of metrics are lame. I want to see how many people have managed to do something fun, silly, or down right impossible in the game... something truly worthy of bragging rights. Something I can tell my friends with a stupid grin on my face, "Look at what I did. XD"

I do agree with the full set of metal armor one and the bronze one... but only if it's a full set of gold plate armor... Achievements should be

"Life of Luxury" -- Craft a full set of gold plate armor.

"Who Needs Iron Anyway?" -- Cast an ingot of every type of bronze.

I intended it to be list of "accomplishments" that were taken to the absurd extreme.   Such as the following, which I find absolutely, ridiculously hilarious!!!

Not necessarily. They provide small positive reinforcement as reward for progression, helping to create a sense of accomplishment and motivate the player to reach the next goals in sight, especially for players with a more completionist mindset. Easier achievements can motivate a beginner to keep playing until they can attempt the more difficult ones, if nothing else.

Additionally, achievements can inform the player about next steps in progression and content they haven't seen yet, or remind about mechanics that they may not know or remember.

Nothing against a little bit of fun, though. I'm torn between one name and two triggers.

"I didn't hear no bell!" - eat a funeral bell and live to tell the tale.

"I didn't hear no bell!" - allow a bell to summon 10 monsters.
