ArmorTweaks, Tweak Your Armor!

Recommended Posts

These mods are designed to tweak armor to fit better into the game, some brief examples of each are:

Class Based Armors- gives each armor type a buff to a specific statistic, like chainmail armor increasing bow shooting speed, or gambeson making you move faster and use less hunger.

Armor Stat Rebalance- Decreases the negatives from wearing armor, for example plate armor used to slow you down by 42% but now it only slows you by 24%.

More Armor Durability- Increases armor durability by about 2x-3x.

Armor Crafting Rebalance- Makes armor recipes make more sense, not designed to make armor cheaper, but makes the crafting of it to be less grindy.

More armor durability is an addon for classbasedarmors/armorstatrebalance, but it can be downloaded and used separately from these mods, you have to use the combination zips of these mods to use both at once.

Heres my patreon if you'd like to support me: Patreon

Class Based Armors:

Spoiler

Each piece of armor will give the following stats:

Note- Each stat is per armor piece so multiply the given stats by 3 for the bonuses granted by a full set.

Leather/Improvised/Jerkin are unchanged as they just offer protection.

Lamellar (Early Game Utility Armor)-

  • +10% Healing Effectiveness (poultice heals more health)
  • -5% Hunger Usage (you will drain hunger slower)
  • 5% Faster Ranged Weapons (faster bow shooting/ throwing rate)

Gambeson (Scouting Armor)-

  • +25% Healing Effectiveness
  • -10% Hunger Usage
  • 10% Faster Ranged Weapons
  • +10% Movement speed

Brigandine (Intermediate Ranged Armor)-

  • +8% Healing Effectiveness
  • +3% Hunger Usage
  • 15% Faster Ranged Weapons
  • -2% Movement speed

Chain (Ranged Focused Armor)-

  • +5% Healing Effectiveness
  • +4% Hunger Usage
  • 25% Faster Ranged Weapons
  • -3% Movement Speed

Scale (Late Utility Armor)-

  • +35% Healing Effectiveness
  • -5% Hunger Usage
  • 8% Slower Ranged Weapons
  • -4% Movement Speed

Plate (Pure Tank Armor)-

  • -8% Healing Effectiveness
  • +8% Hunger Usage
  • 10% Slower Ranged Weapons
  • -8% Movement Speed

Armor Stat Rebalance:

Spoiler

Makes armor have less downsides, so you can wear it when not in combat.

Armor Crafting Rebalance:

Spoiler

Makes armor crafting less grindy by simplifying recipes, and encourage use of the helve hammer.

jerk.png.07e970e221f1094ed83e7253824bd82c.png       Jerkin is now an earlygame armor, not used in recipies now, replaced by leather armor. Is cheaper.

leath.png.4e8c361e7d513e1c0f6a1be19a1866c8.png        Leather is now a crafting ingredient for brigandine and scale, and is slightly cheaper.

gamb.png.9fed69d9b3160320a76f4991ac160d0e.png         Gambeson is now an ingredient for plate armor and is slightly cheaper.

llllammme.png.5ef6033fddc65347766159776c272c44.png       Lammellar is now only 24 ingots to craft, fits better into early game balance.

brig.png.cf8b22e21a53762c18bad8b96689f25d.png      Brigandine uses leather as a base and costs 24 ingots, takes more effort to make than lamelle, but gives better stats.

chain.png.27efe5bdde356bc225d472b17575b180.png Chain is just crafted with chains, makes it a good armor for when you don't have leather. Now takes 16 chains instead of 23 to reduce grind.

scale.png.8d73bc9313dd0b9baba81c185fcccdec.png    Scale armor now uses leather as a base and costs the same as chain ingot-wise, now needs scales as a main ingredient.

plate.png.00e1759599df9aa43a42caf9c2b26e34.png    Plate now needs gambeson as a base, and mainly needs plates to encourage helve hammer use, sill uses some chains, same ingot cost- -as vanilla at 80.

ONLY ONE STAT TWEAKING MOD WILL WORK WHEN ENABLED, ONLY ENABLE ONE ZIP OF "CLASS ARMORS" OR "STAT REBALANCE", EACH MOD ALSO HAS A VERSION WITH THE INCREASED DURABILITY MOD, THE INCREASED DURABILITY MOD WILL NOT WORK ALONGSIDE "CLASS ARMORS" OR "STAT REBALANCE" UNLESS YOU DOWNLOAD THE VERSION WHICH INCLUDES IT.

CRAFTING REBALANCE IS INDEPENDENT OF THESE MODS SO IT WILL WORK WITH ANY OF THEM AND CAN BE ENABLED REGARDLESS OF WHAT MOD YOUR USING.

The Armor Stat Rebalance (No Durability) mod actually still contains the durability changes.
Overall I'd like to just use the durability changes alongside the Armor Crafting Rebalance & Armor Stat Rebalance, but the updated durabilities tend to make Brigandine worthless given that it's worse than all others in every way possible. Comparing to chain example, Brigandine requires 50% more ingots, requires leather, has worse stats across the board, and has less durability.

Maybe set up a formula like durability = (ingotDurability * numIngots * (1 + (numPlates/numIngots)) +  baseDurability
Where, ingotDurability is Copper = 1, TinBronze = 2, BisBronze = 2.25, BlackBronze = 2.5, Iron = 3, MeteoricIron = 4, Steel = 5
And baseDurability is the durability of any base items used in the recipe (gambeson or leather armor)
The 1 + (numPlates/numIngots)  would make it so that plates add an additional 50% durability than other components

Brigantine is easier to do, it can be poured out, not forged

Hey @Mr1k3would love to see an update for 1.17.X when you get the chance. I think the ClassArmors mod would pair really well with your MoreClasses mod. I understand you're busy with Temporal Tinkerer as of right now, but if you get the chance, would love to see this mod alongside some of your other collections revived 😁

Love your work mate!!!
