  1. I don't see this happen myself. What animals do you see doing this? I am currently playing snowball earth and I have musk ox and a moose fenced in. There is tons of snow on the ground and they can't jump over.
  2. Weird because I have added the half slab and fence afterwards almost every time. Never had an issue.
  3. As mentioned you need the temporal gear. Check the treasure hunter traders, they will sell one for 4-5 rusty gears sometimes. Otherwise you are stuck trying to kill special shivers, drifters and bowtorns during a temporal storm.
  4. The fence is to keep the big pigs from just going over the top, but you can use dirt if you stack it high enough. Unless that is a bug in 1.21.6, animals cannot go through or over a fence. Even when there is snow on the ground and you can just jump over they cannot. The only time I see them glich over is when the fence is dug into the ground so the top of the fence just barely pokes over the top of the ground. Sometimes when I do that they can get knocked over. The only time I see animals go over a fence was when there was a bunch of piglets or baby chickens and they were scared into a corner and they piled up and jumped on top of each other and then some would get out. I haven't checked if that still happens though for a long time. I just scare them through.
  5. That was patched out 2 years ago. Stones on the ground don't impact spawn anymore. Other things work though.
  6. Half slab below and a fence on top. It leaves a gap big enough for the piglet, but not that full grown pig.
  7. I would use the half slab with a fence on top of it trick. The piglets can pass through but the full sized pigs cannot. You just have dig around a little to set it up then dig out the last blocks and they will separate.
  8. This is why I always build with dirt! Also I like that there is so much burning peat that it just shows as a white blob on the mini map.
  9. @Blackbomber This one is pretty nice, except the bears bears and more bears. 1350667908
  10. Cool, I was going to reply earlier that I thought I heard Tyron say in an interview that this was coming in the future, but then I doubted myself and didn't want to say it if I wasn't sure.
  11. Since they intentionally made storms harder in 1.20, I don't believe they will ever remove them. I don't know how they decide to change things but they did tone them down from the original 1.20.1 launch. Someone else can answer when temporal storms were added, but I assume around 1.15? I bought the game it was 1.18. 1.18 I made a kill room with half fighting area and killed them slowly. Not super fun but it was something to do. I moved on to rooms in a pit where water forced them into a kill box and pushed the loot into the safe room. 1.19 I grabbed a inventory full of spears and had a blast running around in the storm and killing drifters. Go back to 1.19 and do a temporal storm. 1.20 & 1.21 I go to my storm hole and watch Youtube videos. At some point when I have Blackguard armor or iron chain I may build a fighting area with fences and walls and then a kill a few of them in a "controlled" environment, but it's not really much fun. I'm sure there are much better cheese factories then what I do.
  12. I don't think there is a risk. If they show up in the mod list they work and if they don't download them from the Mods link on this website. It's probably better to just download a fresh copy of the mod. The mods on the server could be out of date even for 1.21.4.
  13. I know this isn't the place for a lore discussion, but I'm not sure Jonas is the savior. Usually the "savior" in a dark story turns out to be the one that actually caused the clamity to start with and manipulated the situation to take power. I can't find it at the moment, but I think her description sounds correct. Although, lets be frank. The traders lore is pathetic at the moment the way they are everywhere even when it doesn't make sense. I do believe that will be fixed in the next few releases as they develop the game and story so the traders can fit in better. IMO the storm needs some way that you can interact with it if it is going to be that long. The first storm should be a terror like it is, but after the storm you should be able to figure something out so that future storms are different somehow. Maybe every storm you survive you become more 'attuned' with the storm and you can run faster and take less damage. Or you start on a early game quest that allows you to become more attuned with the storm for the same affect. That would give you a choice, do I work to on this quest to make the storms more survivable without being stuck in a hole or do I look for bronze and iron. Not everything has to improve the game play. Sometimes the game has to have an obstacle or it's too easy. Right now the storm though to me is less obstacle and more of a time out, which is what I think you are getting at. Lore wise the storm can be anything, so anything fits in the lore.
  14. The lore is so vauge, that wouldn't be very hard. That is the genuis of the existing game lore. It is so vague that they can do about whatever they want. Bowtorns and Shivers were not in any description or lore before they were added and "poof" they fit in. They could go full steam punk and the lore would accomidate it. Not that I think they will, but the lore doesn't say it doesn't exist. If night vision goggles fit into the lore, then what doesn't fit?
  15. That should be it. Also be careful of Doxing yourself in screen shots. If you are still having issues just copy the Maps and Saves folders and delete the entire "VintagestoryData" folder and reinstall. Then copy and paste them back in.
  16. Yeah by the time you can make terra preta, you don't need it in base game. I don't turn my nose up if I find it but that's extremely rare.
  17. I'm not a fan of the inventory management game with large and small items. It would look better as a backpack and 3 backpack attachments that expand it's inventory space. This game does not need a weight system. That would suck the fun out for the castle builders, which is a sizable part of the player base it seems to me. If they did, they would need to revamp when you get pack animals to make it more reasonable. Hey, maybe then they could make a Jonas Pack animal linking device so you could pull inventory from the pack animal within 100 blocks and finally there would be a use for Jonas tech.
  18. Rifts are random, so anywhere is the same. Now if it is temporally unstable near the lake and you can't build your base there, then yes that is a pain for trying to find the perfect place for your base. For me there are no shortage of interesting places to build so I don't have this issue, but I understand why it can be frustrating if you have a place in mind.
  19. I still don't think they will ever let you "wear" a container on your back. Strapping a chest to your back along with 4 backpacks doens't make sense. Even the 4 backpacks makes little sense. Moving a container around in your hands, I can see as something they would implement because it just lets you move things around your base. Longer distance would be too cumbersome. I've been wrong before though.
  20. @regex The easier option is just to go into creative mode. Open inventory and give youreself a temporal gear. They are 100% boring after the first WTF moment. The mentioned Jonas parts are worthless unless you are just a completionist. They can make some cool stuff, but by the time you can make it, it isn't that useful anymore. I'm holding out hope that they will find a way to make them more interesting one day.
  21. Im deeply insulted !!! The bowtorn just requires 3 blocks tall? I have yet to get one indoors myself. Pre 1.20 storms spawned alot indoors IMO since the drifters were the only storm spawn and they require only 2 blocks or 1 for the crawler.
  22. It's been that way since 1.18 when I started. I've had them spawn in small well lighted rooms multiple times over my good knows how many temporal storms. If you are 1000s of hours in and never had it happened you are lucky. All the threads I've ever read say that light has no affect and there is no safe radius. I've read multiple posts debunking the safe radius idea in storms. Shivers and Bowtorns require larger spawning areas so you don't see them in a small room like yours, but drifters very much can spawn in a well lighted area. Unless that's something that has changed. @LadyWYT@Thorfinn
  23. This is definitely the other end of the spectrum. I would mod it out and not even try it. Carrying 4 baskets is silly, but I feel thats more of a mechanic where they want you to gather resources, so they make it 4 instead of one basket or one backpack.
  24. Light has no affect during a storm. Proximity is a myth from my experience. They will spawn right in top of you in a storm. Nerd poles will only be safe until nerfed by flying temporal storm mobs. Which will come one day IMO.
  25. I've seen this same thread multiple times, but I've never really heard a definative answer on what causes it. Are you running this server yourself or a server hosting service?
