From my experience they look too dark. Oil lamps are just worthless. If you replace them with torches you might be okay in some of those rooms. I don't use any mods and typically don't have any issues in my base but I use a lot of lanterns and torch holders.
-
Panning flint sounds painful. Are you panning all the copper you need to make lanterns? No sand on the beaches in your world. I hope you are using a panning mod.

Nothing in the log file?

Welcome to the forums. 35 hrs in and no crops, ouch that's painful.

As long as I pick up flint as I run around in my daily travels I don't have too much of an issue, but I am always running around exploring. If you prefer to spend more time at your base building early on I could see this would be an issue. I think they should at least give you more flint when you mine it from rocks. I was disappointed to find out you just get 1-2 pieces the same as picking it up on the ground.

That was my problem as well. I don't think I've ever tried to live in a area that it rains all of the time. That would be pretty annoying as a new player. It would make the game seem much harder since you can't find crops anywhere unless you travel outside the area.

It's more the flax than food. There are always plenty of bears and wolves to fill up the food bar!
-
@Thorfinn Well I made a raft and got to a different area and now I have 40 flax seeds. It's June 4 so I'm behind schedule.

Wow, you dug up a 4yr old thread. They need to have an option that gives you choices on the type of world. Ie. Oceans vs default settings which give you one big landmass. I just started a world with the plan to build the boat. I hope I'm not disappointed to find out my world settings didn't generate any oceans and my boat is useless. I've never bothered with cheese for those reasons either. I've had the goats penned many times but just can't make myself make cheese. Maybe I should make that a goal of my current playthrough as well since god knows how many hours I have in this game and I've never had my dairy bar full.

I had the same problem with a moose and bear recently. They definitely screwed up the hit boxes on looting corpses with 1.20.9. I don't understand why they make it so hard to loot a corpse. It should be simply, if you can carve it up then you can loot it. Instead I can carve the body, but then I need to get closer or find the magic angle that lets me loot the body.

Is there a way to go back to an old version?
Zane Mordien replied to limpstringcheese's topic in Questions
100% use this link in the client area. You can go back to any version of VS you want. Never tried 1.18? No problem, it is there. -
Nope, you can change anything at anytime as the admin of your single player game. I don't do that often but I think for sanity next time this is what I'll do when travelling to the 2nd story location. I've done it once the hard way and that was enough. The change only affects newly spawned in chunks so anything existing will not change. /worldconfig globalForestation [-1 .. 1] Sets the global forestation offset for world generation. -1 means there will be no forests, 1 means there will be only forests, the value 0 means default forestation density (default: 0)

Just bad luck. I played a few hours on the same version and mods a couple days ago and had wild crops everywhere. I always tell people they need to look harder when they post they can't find wild crops. Now I might have to believe them. Ive got a small garden up and running but nothing like I normally have.
-
I just started a new playthrough and it is humbling me when it comes to wild crops. Normally I have 30 flax seeds by now and I have 3! I have beautiful open grasslands where normally I would be picking crops up left and right, but not this time. Just grass as far as the eye can see. No flowers either. That is at least the one thing I have noticed, where there are flowers I can usually find some wild crops but there are few areas.
-
The second chapter is not my favorite either. You just gave me an idea though. Next time I go to the 2nd story location I'm going to set forests to 0% (-100% or whatever you want the game calls it) and just go there at warp speed. Then when I'm there I can set them back to normal, which for me is -50%.

Is There A Command To Cull Item Drops From The Ground?
Zane Mordien replied to Zevon's topic in Questions
Lol, I did say it nuked everything! It's definitely a last resort, but if trash isn't despawning that will get rid of it. -

Is There A Command To Cull Item Drops From The Ground?
Zane Mordien replied to Zevon's topic in Questions
Go somewhere you don't care about and drop all of junk on the ground and run the command " wgen regen 1 " this will reset every chunk in a 1 chunk radius. Everything is nuked except you. EVERYTHING. Don't do this anywhere near anything you want to keep or you have built. -
Well after playing a few days in 1.20.9, they need to dejank mob spawning. Drifters and friends: Ever since 1.20 either nothing spawns at night or I have the them spawning in the middle of the day under the rust world portals. Harvesting Corpses: Is it me or have the hit boxes gotten worse? I tried to harvest a moose and a bear today and it took forever. I couldn't find the magical spot to loot the body. Portals: Either I have 0 rust world portals at high activity (before 1.20.9) or now I have 3 portals at low activity right on top of each other spawning crap in the middle of the day. Bears.. bears.. In general they need more personality than murder kill machines. I wish they would go a little more realistic on the bears and have some run from you, some attack until damaged, and then some really are murder kill machines. Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like in 1.20 they cluster more. I feel like I have multiple bears right on top of each other and I have manually adjusted the spawn rate down. Second Boss: HELP it needs help. This is a miserable fight IMO, but it would be nicer if the hit box was better. The hit box is stupid small unless that changed in 1.20.7 onward. I got so frustrated trying to fight the stupid thing and I was just missing with every attack even though it was sitting on top of me. I'm sure they have a massive list of other stuff that we can't even see or notice.

Whats the Most Mods You've Been Able to Install?
Zane Mordien replied to N0Stra_V0x's topic in Discussion
Welcome to the forums. I'm always stunned when people say 100+ mods. I'm amazed they all play nice together. Meanwhile I'm running my 2-3 mods.- 35 replies

Is there a way to cull all missing blocks from a world.
Zane Mordien replied to RubberDuckyDJ's topic in Questions
Did you remove a mod? If you haven't messed with the area much you can use the /db prune command and it will regenerate the chunks. See the in game help. Other than that you can manually do a " /wgen regen 1 " command. That will regenerate the map in a radius of 1 chunk around you. BUT it completely regenerates the map so if you had a building or road or tamed elk in that radius it is NUKED. -
I don't know how fixed the first one is. I'm playing 1.20.9 with temporal stability turned on and I keep getting daytime spawns from the rifts. They spawn directly under the rift probably because it is dark under the rift I'm guessing. 1.20 so far has not been my favorite release with all of the indoor fog and mob spawns that are constantly messed up. I feel like it's the equivalent of windows Vista. Onward and upward though. Here's hoping the next release fixes these issues finally.

I still don't have a wolf problem in my first seed from 1.19 where no wolves or bears spawn in this bushy area where I always build my base. Unless they did something in 1.20.9 that is. I have played the seed a couple times in 1.20 with no change in wolf spawn patterns. They are exactly where they have always been although the map has changed a little.
-
Clay is everywhere on every map if you are playing the default settings. Don't give up, it is there. Even if doesn't spawn in the artic it still spawns at a pretty cold temperature. When I do snow ball earth I can still find red clay at the "hot" start which is still very cold.

Autumn and winter darkness and weather indoors
Zane Mordien replied to Aldriona's topic in Questions
I would love to hear an answer because this has been an annoyance ever since 1.20 came out. The underground fog is lovely as well.
