From pre.11: If that means we can only process four large or two huge hides per barrel, that's going to be a grindy change for sure!
-
Zinc doesn't really work as tools in reality, and it's enough of an edge case in the game I'm not sure there's any real utility to it.

Stuff like gravel or excess sand, I do a run-up and pitch stacks into whatever nearby body of water. It'll despawn after a while.

Guide: Multiple Parallel Installations of Vintage Story
StCatharines replied to Streetwind's topic in Guides
Excellent guide, it helped me ensure I wouldn't break anything when installing a 1.20-pre.9 copy. -
Thank you!

100% right there with you. I've already brought this up as a suggestion, but I think it's only a few people having issues currently. I also pinged Tyron on X, but he's a busy guy and it's a very minor feature request. I'd patch it out if I knew how.
-
Oh! Oh you met a different one. Not the... well. You'll find out. You met the latter of the two added in the .pre versions so far.
-
Dude! "Ask and ye shall receive" in action, right there. That was wild.
-
Sounds like you met a surface variant, and a sole one, at that! They're fun when they swarm... hard to lose, they corner very well indeed, and can jump basically anything a Seraph can.

Head towards the equator from spawn, not along it. Sorry if I was unclear! In general, it will increase the area temperature as you go towards the equator. If you started a normal spawn game (temperate), that means go south.
-
Take a peek at the wiki, specifically "Worldgen regional conditions" on the tree page. In short, maple and pine are slightly more cold hardy but otherwise have similar spawn conditions. Try going towards the equator a while, see what you find. Edit: And when you do find some walnut trees, don't forget to break the leaves before felling the main trunk! You might have issues getting enough seeds to keep them going, otherwise. They can be planted, and will grow fine, anywhere. The spawn conditions only apply on world generation, not for player planted (non-fruit) trees.

Very puzzling! Hopefully someone with more ideas than I have as to the root cause will come along. My only experience with the issue was while playing a -pre build.
-
You say latest version, but you didn't specify whether that's the latest stable (1.19.8) or latest experimental (1.20-pre.6). I don't know whether it makes a difference, but it's good information for troubleshooting. On 1.19.8, with a ping of ~90ms, no players on my server are currently experiencing such rubberbanding, but we sure did when we were playing 1.19-pre.10 a while back!

Iron bloom didnt spawn with enough voxels to finish the thing
StCatharines replied to NastyFlytrap's topic in Discussion
Yeah, that's rough luck. I've had it happen only a handful of times in over a thousand hours of playtime, but it does happen unfortunately. -
Check out the Wanda's Gadgets mod. It's a very creative, interesting mod, and adds a grappling hook to the game to do what you imagine.
-
Two mods might interest you. DanaCanCook and Sammiches both do basically what you suggest: adding the ability to use bread as the base for a meal.

He's probably using granite in place of flint to make early game tools. I tend to do the same now, when I never would have before.

I figure the new mobs will very likely get tweaked more, both to reduce the spawn rate and to reduce their current penchant for running around in bright daylight. As far as the clay change? I personally really like it not just for the new use for flint, but also because of how relatively rare refractory clay actually is. It was all over the place in 1.19 and previous, which makes it trivial to find and utilize. Adding the new hunt, the impact of finding or making some? That's exactly how you improve a gameplay loop in my opinion. The problem you mentioned with the lack of different rock strata doesn't appear to be a generation change in 1.20 as far as I can tell. Have you made a new world and checked around in creative mode?
-
Undoubtedly, there will be mods to address the fireclay change. Personally, I've been enjoying it so far, as it gives use to the flint that was otherwise fairly pointless by the time I was making steel. The mobs... yes. They do spawn quite often, and they are oddly active out in the sunlight! I imagine that's going to be tweaked further, as we're still in the pre versions.

I know there's a mod which allows exactly this... Found it! Clay Casting is the mod.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a coincidence. It almost seems like they're just that common. If you really scour an area for them, you're almost certain to find at least one! I've found many within 200 blocks of another TL, and only by mining through solid rock while quarrying.

I played Minecraft for, I don't know, ten hours total? Something like that. It didn't hold my interest, and that was that. Vintage Story is, hands down, my absolute favorite game I've ever played. Ever. I have over a thousand hours into it at this point, easily.

Yes, unfortunately you can startle the chickens right through a wall. Unless I'm using a mod like ChickenSit, my general rule of thumb is that if I can hear the animals, they're too close to my main base.
