  1. It feels too much like a fish generator to me... throw something in the water and we'll spawn a fish for you. I'm planning to only spear fish in my game until I want to collect fish trophies, then I'll use the fishing pole.
  2. Unfortunately people are people and maturity levels vary wildly. I think we all have a passion for this game and express it differently... I know I have engaged critics of certain game systems by trying to show a different side of the story. It hasn't always been received well. I just move on and trust in Tyron's judgement.
  3. It's your game... do what makes you feel comfortable Personally, moving it block by block would not be fun. I might take just the important materials and leave behind a cool ruin...
  4. I always play as Commoner... I am not a fan of buffs and debuffs to make me feel like I'm playing as one thing or another... I want the freedom to do what I want. For those who like classes, perhaps giving points to assign at the beginning of the game to let people craft their own class... providing freedom to do what they want.
  5. Agreed! I like them as well. They are cool to watch from behind my windows. Occasionally, I go out and try my hand at combat with them... it's unique and cool...
  6. I always dig pits in areas I'm searching thru if its forest or I hear wolves... you can usually get to them and trap bears & wolves... If I'm on a long range adventure, I stay away from forests (or burn them down) Enjoy!
  7. Same here... I usually find a trader very close to start so I use that as a base to store things and wander around until I have what I want to venture out further... I adventure and make a number of huts along the way (mark them on the map) until I see a place that "looks right" for an initial base. Enjoy!
  8. I definitely do this, though usually with a ruin that has a little more "charm" to start with... //media.invisioncic.com/r268468/emoticons/wink.png Would love to see what you build.
  9. Hhmmm... but this isn't a 4x game, nor a game where you start as a neanderthal... the world exists at a time where metals, the wheel, writing, etc. already exist. Why create artificial gates when there's already enough work that needs to be done to progress thru the game's stages? Just say'n
  10. Very sorry if I came across that way, was not intended. That's the problem with posting like this... no eye contact, no inflection... I was also just putting my opinion forward. Enjoy! //media.invisioncic.com/r268468/emoticons/smile.png
  11. When you are running around, grab quartz on the ground... some of them will be clear quartz and a few will make a block you can see thru... nice in a starter hut for seeing if the coast is clear in the morning. //media.invisioncic.com/r268468/emoticons/wink.png
  12. Not a fan... Then progression is left to the chance of finding the book, etc. Progression in VS is a key feature and something I love about it. I progress by doing, not by finding. No artificial obstacles. My $.02
  13. I've always dug my animal pits 4 deep because of bears. I have a ladder that I have to jump up to for getting out... have never seen anything climb out of the pit...
  14. I love lighting caused fires in VS. I generally start fires early game as a way to hunt and clear line of sight. Fire is good
  15. Hytale looks like Wizard101 went to middle school. Too cartoony and frankly looks like a kids game to me.
  16. This ^^^^ and knapster (which makes knapping less tedious).
  17. Animal pits are your friend. Spot a wolf, back off and dig a pit, bait the wolf to chase you and jump over the trench... easy peasy... Also... stay out of forests as much as possible... I rarely die to wolves & bears anymore
  18. I'm one of those who agrees with you. It's an odd arcade mini game that you can't skip and just doesn't feel right from a game play point of view. I cheat to get around it.
  19. Good luck! Animal pits are your friend. Fire (torching the plains, etc.) is your friend. Don't be afraid to restart often until you learn the mechanics of the game (or just want a different world). Enjoy!
  20. Have you guys learned the ways of cooking (cooking pots, bowls) and storage (crocks and clay vessels)? To LadyWYT's point, if you forage, you can make meals that should get you through to the first harvest. Once you have that harvest you shouldn't have any issues with food (even thru winter). Enjoy!
  21. When I get to that point, I start over. I'll likely never make steel because it's not fun for me to spend that time when I could go explore. By the same token, I cheat to get past the RA boss because that fight is a disappointing arcade mini-game. BTW, I believe you can reduce the distance to the story location in the settings. Do what makes you happy. Enjoy!
  22. I really like the river mod. For the base game, it would be interesting to see the current change based on rainfall up river from where the player is. Flooding should also be considered. Maybe that's the downside to water wheels... This could get really interesting.
  23. Just to contrast... when actually out hunting in a forest (not sitting still) the noise you make stepping on twigs/brush/leaves, the rustling of trees from the wind, and that pesky fly buzzing around your ears, will often mask noises from wild life around you (depending on what they're doing). So, there should be a balance... keep the tension going. Enjoy!
  24. Being mostly an explorer in VS, I like finding the scattered trader here and there. It's part of the fun (goal?) of exploring. If there is a group of them, then even more cool. While I wish they were a little more useful, I have traded a little with them here and there... perhaps we'll see some updates to them in the future. Enjoy
  25. Dig trenches 3 blocks deep and as long as you like (10 blocks for me)... set tall stacks of dirt on each end so you see it at a distance... Work around the prey so they are between you and the trench, then walk toward them. They will run directly away from you and into the trench. Easy peasy Enjoy
