  1. Don't be coy, we all know you snuck onto his server and left it there!
  2. Yeah, that is an issue. Which is why a lot of people still host their mods on Nexus or Git. It does suck that if you got it from another platform you can't download content, and some other things are restricted. A lot of it will work, a somewhat scummy way to get it is to buy it on Steam, download what you want, move the files to the non-steam installation and then refund the game. Also as far as launchers, I wouldn't even consider anything on Chi-com Epic. I hate them especially with their forcing exclusives, although it has made me wait to get some games that sorely needed a year of patching anyway (I'm looking at you Hitman3!)
  3. I couldn't put my finger on it, but that's what I felt too. That was the guys dog and little girl wasn't it? It was very sad. That show was pretty brutal when you got deep into it.
  4. No, I haven't bothered with metal pots, I was talking about 7DTD, which has these mechanics. Yeah, warm/hot is definitely easy mod in VS, I got very bored down there. Did build a great base, the harvesting and regrowth of bamboo is awesome. I hate hot weather myself, live in the deep South, half the year only leave the air-conditioned house in an air-conditioned car to go to an air-conditioned store/dr/whatever. Yet somehow, the lack of seasons in the game (in those climates) felt like something was missing. Like Thorfinn said, being able to run away is pretty crucial. Yes, there should be some drawback, especially since cold weather has one.
  5. Yes, you can finish filling a partially filled mold if you screwed up. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Special:MyLanguage/Ore_Deposits Tin is fairly rare, but as @Cladow said, you really don't need a tremendous amount, as bronze is still mostly copper. Iron is very common, just usually deeper but the deposits tend to be huge.
  6. Yeah, I am almost as likely to pick commoner as hunter. I always play with recipes unlocked.
  7. Lol. As another grumpy old man, it took me the longest time to adopt Steam, but honestly, I love it. I used to go nuts patching all my games, it was worse than working as an SA. The workshop and guides sections are really useful. The convenient shopping is another thing, my wife loves the words "I bought it on sale!" I think people probably feel safer downloading from them as well, I mean when was the last time you heard about a virus spread from a Steam download? As a consumer, there is a lot to like about it. As a developer, not so much, as Tyron listed. I think he is making the right decision by delaying it. Gotta give it to him, he has balls to have gone without a publisher in the first place, glad to see it has paid off for him. Maybe his success will inspire other small businesses. All true. It doesn't help that it isn't well understood or documented. I still think something like Chunkbase would be useful, I know the ore placement and some other things are not tied to the seed, but the general map layout should be, and that is good enough to at least get an idea. Granted it would probably be a lot of work to have all the same options the game has, and without them it's fairly worthless. I know you will work with what you get and that seems to be part of the fun for you, but it can be a real turnoff repeatedly generating maps you are not happy with. I wasn't joking when I said I got so frustrated with it I stopped playing for a good long while. I'm sure a large part of how pleased I am with this update is tied to the fact that I got a pretty awesome map. To quote that other guy, I am happy as a two petered puppy.
  8. Yeah, but what is the solution then? Make us take a siesta? I agree a change to hunger for heat makes no sense. A change to walking speed sounds horrible. Think about it. Honestly, I would rather deal with thirst than what you are proposing.
  9. Oh, I somehow missed some of the conversation. Mold great idea. Then they could let us make bleach to clean it. Then people will get tired of cleaning and start drinking bleach. </sarcasm>
  10. Firebrick breaks very quickly, although I guess it would be good for your first go. I've thought about making one, because I can, but as said, I am not making a lot of pottery by that time, and I would have likely already made T2 bricks for my cementation furnace before I would even think of making a kiln. I agree with @Lugh Crow-Slave It probably is more geared towards multi-player. Wooden bowls? That's just crazy talk. Only elves eat out of wooden bowls. Dorfs use stone coo...uhhh....wrong game, my bad. Damn you! I never thought of it before, but now I want wooden bowls too!
  11. Yeah, a set of meteoric plate isn't bad, especially since steel armor takes forever. It was good enough for me to get through the first few story quests. I make a steel pick and falx (and add silver or gold plate to that) and then I usually go full bore into making chain mail.
  12. You can setup narrow passes too. Just today I had a bear come over by my cementation furnace, which is right outside my door and 1 block away. I just peppered him with arrows from there. Doesn't get much better than hunting from your own back porch.
  13. @LadyWYT beat me to it, but I was gonna say it was probably before they came up with their storyline, since that sounded like Tyron hadn't really thought too much about it at that point and was just spitballing. Was kinda generic MC stuff, just missing zombies (creepers would get you sued). Much as I like traditional fantasy races (I mean Tieflings and Dragonthings, WTAF? I'm a 1st edition guy) and monsters, sometimes it is nice to just have something different. While I loved Acheron's Call, the huge variety of original monsters were a challenge to keep track of, vs like Everquest which was pretty generic DnD classics and easy to know what was what. I can see you aren't going to let this go, but I think you shouldn't get your hopes up. I'm sure mods will start popping up if nothing else. Or make your own, and then you can have everything you want.
  14. Heretic! LOL So it isn't a horrible suggestion, especially if it were coupled with aged firewood burning longer. I think someone has done it as a mod actually.
  15. Yeah, finally going and doing the RA, now that I understand these things, some things make more sense. Like the class descriptions and the little bits of lore on the different clothes, or the initial awkward conversation with your first trader. I've started to really gain an appreciation for the lore.
  16. https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/27701 This is my contribution to the additional molds mods. There are a lot of them, and all different combinations. Names like extra, additional, more and vanilla were already taken, so it was either "Castaway" or "Garden variety molds" I decided I wanted to keep it vanilla-ish. This set includes plate, nails, spear and arrow heads. Things that will be made out of copper (plates) or bronze (nails & spears) pretty much throughout the entire game if you use them. Arrow heads just because I am a lazy hunter. While I like the idea of bulk ingot casting, the fact of the matter is late game, these are really the only things I cast anyway. I opted against saw, scythe and chisel because it would take away any motivation to make an anvil before iron and practice smithing. I did this a little different than the others, since they all need to be updated for 1.21 (because of the massive ceramic changes) and it was a pain, but I patched the toolmold.json files. Also, if any of you need help updating your mold mods, hit me up (or just rip off my mod, speaking of, credit where credit is due, I redid my shape files, but I think I ripped the spear off from morevanillamolds, Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Zack_a_Riz). I did this with modmaker but man it took a lot of tweaking to make it actually work. Anyway, enjoy peoples!
  17. I haven't looked at the code to be sure, and so I am going off the wiki (which, other than the math seems very off in any pages with it, the information otherwise seems good) says that it is forests in certain temperatures that makes wolves spawn. All the animals have certain terrain/temperature requirements. My own observations tend to agree with the wiki. Pretty much if you see a certain animal in a certain spot, you can be sure they will spawn around there again. Even if you cut all the trees down and dig up the ground, that area is still considered forest.
  18. If anyone else runs into this issue, I think I figured it out: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Modding:JSON_Patching You need to do a move operation to make the wildcard last. Since it is as I suspected, if the thing has it's own entry it is taken out of the array once it finds a match.
  19. So my plate mold shows 0/100 instead of 0/200 like it is supposed to. I found log entries when I try to pour now: 14.8.2025 21:22:53 [Warning] Failed resolving a blocks itemdrop or smeltedstack with code game:nailhead-tinbronze in tool mold drop for game:toolmold-blue-fired-nail 14.8.2025 21:23:55 [Warning] Failed resolving a blocks itemdrop or smeltedstack with code game:platehead-tinbronze in tool mold drop for game:toolmold-blue-fired-plate Which tells me the wildcard entry is picking them up, even though they have their own, because the word "head" is being appended. Is it patching those 2 in after the wildcard, since the other 2 seem to work fine (they haven't cooled yet, so I could have a problem still as they would be working fine with head, and if I get 1 arrow instead of 9, I will know). Sure as shit, i got 1 arrow. So the spear head works properly, because it was intended to fall under the default wildcard entry, which it does. I used addmerge instead of merge. I don't know what else to do, other than maybe remove the wildcard entry and re-add it?
  20. Don't you have to carry a lot more food as a BG when you go on winter expeditions? Yeah, I was looking at it this way too. I'm always carrying too much food...until I'm suddenly not.
  21. LOL, 10 days is hardly a necro. Look around the forums. Yeah, the hunger is the main issue in VS, especially for a BG who already has to eat a lot. Much as I prefer coffee above all and hot chocolate next, I still think some kind of tea made with local ingredients would be a lot more useful. Although there's no reason we can't have multiple hot beverages. Hmmmm...maybe some mulled wine? We already have the wine. *glances around his cellar* Lots and lots of wine.
  22. So I went back to the patch version, rebuilt it all. Moved everything into assets\game\ (originally modmaker spit it out with the patches under assets\castaway) which stopped all the missing textures and shapes and recipes, even though they were all there. The domains are a total PITA. So I've got almost everything working, except 2 of the molds (spear & arrows) accept metal and 2 don't (plates and nails). I made all the needed entries. Debug is not showing anything wrong finally. The after output of the patch all looks correct.
  23. Yeah, I wasn't sure if I had imagined we used to be able to make blue tile or not.
  24. Not quite. The effect of cold is already a thing in the game. Heat is another suggestion we've been discussing. Right now there are no effects for being hot.
