Typically wolves spawn in forests, not in caves. I suspect they are spawning nearby and pathfinding into the cave.

mechanical Robots that do simple chores for you
Maelstrom replied to Yuperness's topic in Suggestions
I would point people to Lovecraft's fiction. While there is technology and science, it isn't of the sci-fi variety. It is more along the lines of him incorporating the science of his day (turn of the 20th century) into stories in which extra-dimensional beings and events happen. Vintage Story, to date, is very faithful to that idiom where the characters use science and technology to solve problems created by the extra-dimensional being or event. -
You will likely find out with the rest of us when Tyron posts it in the patch notes.

This will probably be the domain of mods. Consider that the end game tech in the road map is steam power, implying trains or windmill alternate power source. -
You may want to go here to request what can be done: https://mods.vintagestory.at/accessibilitytweaks

I believe it is 40 blocks (corrections welcome if this is wrong), but it could be only 30. I generally go about 25 to be safe.

Once you get accustomed to looking for crops they start popping up all over the place! =D

Thank you to all those who discover these problems so those of us with little time for gaming can have a better experience when we finally update.

Grains are easy to mistake for grass. Best indicator is that grass is rendered in a cross where grain grows in a square. Grass block next to chick example of immature grain

Can the ice be broken without breaking the embedded block? Tried removing ice from reeds root, but had to break the block to remove the ice.

Loving all the behind the scenes improvements!!! Hopefully two small requests (in the vein of All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth ) Make more temporal storm customization options (e.g. decouple strength and frequency). Give suevite the full building block palette (i.e. brick building block) as other stone variants (i.e. granite) Pretty Pleeeeaaaaase! I promise I'll be extra good this year.

I argue against wood lamellar due to the high resin cost; unless there a tones of leaking pine/acacia trees in your area. If there's sufficient linen, gambeson is the best early game armor (due to tier 2 protection AND additional benefits when getting hit by tier 3+ monsters.) I don't think there's a good way to teach prospecting in game. But I'm no seasoned, grizzled game designer either. I'm sure professional game designers could do it. With all due respect to Tyron (whose coding skills eclipse mine by many magnitudes); I don't think he currently has the skill to code such a tutorial in game.

I wouldn't say that node search mode is essential. It makes finding ore deposits much easier; but it isn't necessary.

This "minecraft like" spawning according to light level is not always good. <-- you dislike minecraft spawning rules I would even forbid to spawn entities in some distance from by player placed blocks (e.g. 20). <-- you like minecraft spawning rules. Minecraft forbids spawning too close to the player unless there is a spawner involved.
-
On the one hand you dislike minecraft like spawning rules but on the other you want minecraft like spawning rules. I has a confusion. Given the spawning changes that have come with 1.16 rifts, it seems like the devs are moving away form minecraft like spawning rules and haven't fully implemented what they want VS spawning to look like. There will be pain along the way as VS spawning is refined (such as watching drifters spawn INSIDE my illuminated house TWO blocks from my face! on multiple occasions in 1.16 without a temporal storm raging.)
-
Not regularly, just more often than here (which I do realize may not be much more than the forums). Admonishment received.
-
The developer(s) are not very active on the forums. Better to make this request through the VS discord. Until wolf behavior is tweaked consider crafting improvised armor which is available on day one. Also consider different tactics in dealing with wolves.
-
Caves are dangerous places. Are you properly equipped to explore? If you consider your combat skills are average at best consider taking higher tier armor and weapons, like iron or better. Surface drifters spawning from rifts are less lethal and the rifts can be managed with sufficient lighting.

In essence the game already does that. Growth speed slows dramatically as nutrients are depleted from the soil. Low fertility soil will take forever before crops come to maturity. Full growth on medium fertility soil takes longer than terra preta. For the time it takes crops to grow in terra preta the lesser fertility soils will take longer and thereby yield less crops over the course of a growing season.

What do you want to see more of in base game?/ Possible mod integration
Maelstrom replied to FizzyB's topic in Discussion
You're not alone. Others have posted similar comments. Regarding future additions I will refer you to how things currently are in game (ambience and logic reasons for everything) and the writings of Mr. H.P. Lovecraft. The development team have done an excellent job presenting a Lovecraftian environment and I doubt they'll fail to do so in upcoming updates, such as 1.18 that promises the games first boss. I would expect to see additional mobs accompanying said boss. -
Using some brick blocks would also break up the uniformity in the build as well. Additionally, using some stone blocks of different materials can help, such as pairing granite with suevite or andesite. Alternately contrasting colors can look good too; such as sandstone and peridotite.

Thank you for the halite example. I have a halite reading with 35ish ppm and the surrounding chunks are 25-30 ppm each. Didn't find anything in the highest rated chunk but will explore into the others as well.

You can make floating torches by removing the block they're placed on.

Heated greenhouses, hot springs and surface geysers
Maelstrom replied to RobinHood's topic in Suggestions
Having visited geysers and hot springs I can attest that they do not provide that much of a benefit. The only way to utilize the heat generated from such features is to enclose it in a building.
