Yeah. Almost a stack of charcoal for a stack of flint after the flint is at about 650 and logs aren't heating it any closer to the 800 burn temp for logs. That needs to be toned down.
-
Anyone else notice it takes a crapton of fuel to calcinate flint? I think I burned 3 stacks of peat just to get a stack of flint close to 900. Charcoal didn't seem to speed the process any either. Or was I spoiled by the Better Firepits mod?

Johnny Come-Lately to the convo with a comment from left field... "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of the human mind. Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them." - Frank Herbert Dune 1965

Do you mean this one? Humorous Stories

The berry bush re-work has been something commented on / wished for as far back as 1.15/1.16 (about 4 years ago)

Darn it! I want me some zombie chickens.

Is the game supposed to occasionally go rainbow-y?

Sounds like you need to Insert your Humorous Story here

Did I say anything about what happens to, in your case, ill-gotten gains? Nooooo, I only mentioned it was a healing and teleportation item. One could make comments about reading comphrension, but I won't.

What do you mean the poison mushrooms are not useful. Some of those "poisonous" mushrooms are just dual purpose magic items in disquise! Don't trust me? Take the Death Cap mushroom, this magic items instantly heals you and returns you to spawn. Consider having one of these when you're deep in that cave and lost the way out, chomp on one of these magic items and PRESTO! you're home again.

I've had drifters hike a fair distance from a cave. I believe spawn distance is about 65 block radius. I'd put my money on a natural spawn and he wandered on over to say, "Hi"

The last stable update will probably be 3-4 months from now. We'll see iterations of stable and unstable releases between now and then.
-
Huh. Never thought to use anything but flint since it is so very prevalent no matter where you are. I've had day 1 trouble finding reeds, clay and other day one items but flint has not been one of them. Just by picking up whatever flint I run across on day 1 I usually end up with at least half a stack of flint. About the only thing more plentiful than flint at 10am on May 1, Year 0 is sticks. Unless you play some sadistically masochistic world like frostpunk or Arrakis.

You're actually considering deconstructing the build in survival??? Since you asked the question, it doesn't seem like you are strict on "cheating". So I've gotta ask: You are actually, really CONTEMPLATING moving that build in survival??? If so I hope you have steel tools. And lots of spare time. Lots and lots of time!

Achievement get: Well that was quick!

I've been going through this intolerable waiting period since 1.15. It's great to see the pre drop and read all the detailed updates, but then wait weeks for the rc's to start dropping. I appreciate that Tyron and Co. take their time to get it down well, but the anticipation is hell.
-
Taking 1.21 as an example; the first rc released on July 22. The first stable release was Sept. 9. Looks like about 6 weeks which is historically typical for this game. 1.19 was also about 6 weeks from first rc to first stable release. 1.20 is an extreme outlier as the dev team had to pivot to address performance due to a 300% increase in sales, so we won't talk about Bruno. Given the game's release history I'd expect a stable version to be out in five weeks; around mid-April.
-
Yes. There is a risk of bugs doing undesired things though. If you want to absolutely sure nothing bad happens wait for a stable release. Based on my experience it could be a up to about 4 or 6 weeks before one of those comes out.

Surface deposits are small compared to deeper deposits. In that ultra high reading I came across three deposits of copper continguous to each other. The deposit was 4 blocks deep of poor quality ore but nestled amongst that was a regular sized rich deposit. That one find was about 20 or 30 blocks in diameter, most of which as 3-4 blocks deep. It took me two trips to haul all of the copper ore chunks out of that deposit.
-
But the likelihood of more ore is worth hunting down those Very High (or better yet Ultra High) readings. In my last world I found an Ultra High copper reading. Sank my first shaft and came back up with a backpack full of copper that was more than enough to fund a normal playthrough. The only reason I went back was to be obnoxious about my copper usage. Made a stack or more of lanterns and then an automated quad-quern settup that drained all querns into a single chest. I've also stumbled across magnetite in a very poor reading, so yes, ore will spawn just about anywhere; but the higher the reading the less work it takes tracking it down once you are below the surface.

indeed! Best FF ever made.
