For me this time around is really bad, because I started playing on the TOPS server, and have been waiting 4+ months for it to reset to play again. They said it would be when the first 1.22 rc was out, but they still haven't reset TOPS. I assume this was because of some of the bugs with the first rc version. But now that those are resolved, I'm just waiting. I know it is close, but the days keep on passing by, it truly is hell for me right now...

When I was cooking a stack of flint, it was taking so long I thought it was a good idea to do some farm harvesting while I wait. Problem was, I must have went just far enough away for the chunk to unload, and the fire stopped, and everything cooled down. So I had to start all over

I was playing around with pre-4 last night an noticed something interesting. When returning home my crops had a bunch of rabbits, deer, etc eating them. I remember something in the notes saying a bug was fixed regarding this. But ever since I started playing a little over a year ago, I have never seen this behavior before. At first I was annoyed, then I realized I could use my crops as bait, dug some pits. Now I have plenty of food while I wait for my crops to grow!

I have been looking every day excited for the TOPS reset as well. Once they announced the reset I haven't played much at all, a little bit here and there in single player worlds. But I really am looking forward to play on TOPS and work on some long term builds. I was counting the days until the reset, until they held it off again for the next update, now I have no idea when it will reset, so I keep checking back on the news each day. Really itching to play again!

Knapping only works if you hit one rock with another. Make sure you have a rock/flint in your hand when working on it in the world.

I’d love for the starving sound to be different. I can’t tell you how many times I’m playing with someone and they suddenly panic, convinced they’re being attacked by something unseen. I rush over to help, only to discover there’s nothing there—just their sheepish, ‘…I forgot to eat again.’

I love the ash idea, it could pile up like snow, the bigger taller your house is that burned down the taller the ash piles are afterwards.

I went in knowing nothing, and yes I was a ragdoll as well. It wasn't until I started reading spoilers after the fact that I learned that. I also didn't know that when wearing full iron plate armor healing was 0% effective and thought it was a bug. lol

If you are looking to add some text to the map see the "Guide/Contribute": https://map.tops.vintagestory.at/?x=0&y=0&zoom=6#contribute It's as simple as adding a sign and adding text "<AM:BASE>" with the name you want to display. Keep in mind this won't show up immediately, they only update the TOPS map about once a month.

I think you should be able to harvest the glow worms and use them to create the glowing blocks that are only in creative mode. I would really love the ability to chisel glowing letters, signs, art, etc in survival mode.

When exploring, always, always bring stacks of ladders!

When I logged in to this update the first thing I noticed was how fuzzy everything looked. I ended up turning off bloom, which helped a lot, and turning up the texture quality. In case anyone else has this issue.

I was unaware that holding a torch helped, I will try this next time. I was under 50% health and was harvesting 20+ skeps when it happened, lots of bees attacking me, lol.

Where does death by bees live in the strangest death list? When I died by bees on the TOPS server everyone was saying they have never seen it happen, lol.

I think they all went into the deserts and died. I find cow sculls there all the time, yet have never seen a living one. Something must have made them go mad!

Can lava turn regular water into boiling water? If so, that is exactly what happened.

Boiling water... yes, I think you are correct. This makes a lot of sense.

Frustrating death: Several months ago I joined the TOPS server, met new friends and joined the town of Dawnreach. I chose to progress myself without help as it has been a while since I had played the early game. I got a full set of tin bronze tools and was ready to go exploring for iron. I found a cave in town that had a translocator, out of curiosity I jumped right in. Then suddenly I was burning to death in lava. I went in the portal over and over again trying to get my stuff back, or at least try and plug the lava leak in the ceiling.. no luck. Gave up lost everything. A few weeks later I decided to venture out to that location far away and fix the problem so no one else runs into it. I figured since it was below a lake, I could just dig down and the lava would turn to obsidian and problem solved. For some reason when I finally got down to the TL I was burning in water, lost everything again... Both times I almost quit playing on TOPS, but I love the fact they don't shut down the server ever so my builds will live on forever keeps drawing me back despite my losses. Ahhhh, good times.

In the 1.21 notes Tyron says they have fixed most of "animals sometimes escaping their pens if the player leaves the area" So hopefully this is now fixed.

Does anyone know if there are plans to upgrade the TOPS server so that there isn't a 30+ minute queue time just to play?

When I get the urge to start over I just dump everything in a chest and run thousands of blocks away and start from scratch there. Usually I do this because of terrain generation updates. But I would say around the 100 hour mark.
