Well that is strange. If no one has an answer for you here, I'd definitely ask in the VS discord chat server. Here is the Invitation Link in case you need it.

Hmm. Then it may be a bug. Just to confirm: You did restart the game (for the command to take effect)? What do you get when you type in: "/worldconfig temporalStorms" but without the quotations? [it should say that the value is set to veryoften] How long did you play before deciding that there are no temporal storms in your world? Are you playing with any mods and, if so, which ones? The answers to those questions may help someone knowledgeable be able to help you further (sadly I am not knowledgeable). If you do not receive a reply here, I would encourage you to go to the VS discord channel and bring it up there. Here is the invitation link: VS Discord Chat Server Invitation

I recommend taking a look at Stroam's comments about worldgen for Ashantin's video, "Vintage Story Preparing To Start A New World E1 Customization Choices" (there are only 8 people commenting so it isn't hard to find). In her more recent video (in response to requests that she share the seed for her new 1.18 world), she says that it took many tries to spawn in a world she was happy with. She has specific requirements though, like not favoring some types of stone.

According to the wiki (press "t" to open chat and type in the following): /worldconfig temporalStorms [off|veryrare|rare|sometimes|often|veryoften] How frequent temporal storms should be (default: sometimes) https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/World_Configuration

It would be good to list the mods you are using (if any) so that someone will better be able to help you. (I've not installed 1.18.1 yet, so I'm no help)

Ah! I just checked too and I was wrong. Hypi was on 1.18-rc8 when using ProspectorInfo. Well, I'm sure it will be updated pretty quickly (now that it looks like a must-have for me too, I'll be watching like a hawk).
-
Are you using the unofficial release of ProspectorInfo for 1.18? The author mentioned it in a comment on the mod page, on April 8th, and provided this link: https://github.com/p3t3rix-vsmods/VsProspectorInfo/pull/23#issuecomment-1475308024

I've been watching Hypi's youtube series ("Hypnotique AKA Hypi" channel) of 1.18.0 and she has been using ProspectorInfo successfully. If it is broken for 1.18.1, I bet it won't be broken for long as it seems pretty popular. I'll have to give it a try!

Yes, it's been there for a while. Maybe since 1.16? Since that setting has been available, I've been setting copper to Uncommon and did notice a change (as I noted above).

A long time ago, Tyron posted this in discord (I hope it helps): The line he references is now something like 392 (of the bear.json) if using Notepad++. eta: There used to be easy ways to edit the animal .json to set maximum number generated to zero. It may still be there, but I didn't see it in a quick glance. Someone else may know.

Just so that you know... BetterRuins just got updated within the past hour, and is said to fix some sort of crash. Ancient Dungeons will be updated this weekend. I'm sure someone else will come along that knows the answer to your question. Best wishes! [eta: look at that! Posted at the same time as the answer. :)]

I had the same experience in 1.18, finding copper very rarely and then it be only one copper bit. That was with an "uncommon" setting which is what I usually choose. However one deposit had the largest amount of surface copper I'd ever seen. So.... not sure what to make of it yet.

I do not know the answer to the question about macros, but are you aware that "/gm c" and "/gm s" are already 'a thing' in vanilla?

In the post for 1.18.0-rc.1, Tyron mentions that the tutorial in incomplete. I don't know if that is what is causing the torch problem, but I'd highly recommend asking this in the VS discord server since the tutorial feature is so new: Vintage Story Discord Invitation Link eta: although maybe someone here will know the answer... but if you don't get one, try there.

Wolf spawn can vary. I recently had a nice seed (1.18 pre-7) and restarted for a favorable trader. There had been a gorgeous wildflower spawn within a nearby arena ruin and there were also wolves in the forest next to the ruin. The restart had neither wildflowers nor wolves. This is the first time that I've noticed this happening. I don't know if it is new or not.

It affects the length of day. At 0.5, it takes 48 real life minutes for one day. At 0.1, one day is 240 real life minutes... which surprises me, as it doesn't seem that long (to me). Personally, I enjoy looking around at things and do not like to feel rushed. I hadn't noticed any change to the days in a month, and I'm not sure what Tyron was referring to in that post when he mentions the calendar. The wiki doesn't make it any more clear to me: https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/List_of_server_commands/time EDIT: Actually, it would be more accurate to say that it affects the real life time it takes for one day to occur. The day is still '24 hours' long as far as the game is concerned.

Apparently an understanding of rock strata is helpful in finding different rocks. I'll be interested to see the replies here, as this is something I've been unable to grasp on my own. Meanwhile, here is the wiki page (kimberlite is an igneous rock, and phyllite is metamorphic): https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/Rock EDIT: Btw, kimberlite can only be made into cobblestone (and polished stone). It can only contain chromium, titanium and uranium so that might help narrow it down if using the propick.

Hi Fran6! If time is an issue, there are some commands that might help. This is an old post from Tyron when the 'current' game version was 1.10.5 (I've been using the third command, and it still works well in 1.18): To use the command, type "T" to open the chat window, and type: /time calendarSpeedMul 0.5 [but 0.5 is the default, so choose a number less than that; I enjoy the pace at 0.1 but that may be too slow for you]
