I have chickens and therefor lots of eggs. Bread pudding is a go to favorite to use up dense sourdough that I didn't let rise long enough. (ive learned to just let it rise even for hours and hours if necessary) Another go to favorite is French toast but I make it with sweetened condensed milk and LOTS of eggs. Let that bread soak almost to the point of falling apart and then cook it on the iron for a few minutes each side to ensure cooking that egg milk mix throughout. Yummy! No syrup required. And meats I use a smoker for. Any bones get saved and used for bone broth which is an excellent soup stock. I cure my own bacon and am looking at salted hams and such as well. Our ancestors had it right. But if you want the convenience of the store than the poison and the deception is a key trait and companion of the convenience.

I am a father. I decide what is important for my children. NOT SOME DERELICT GOVERNMENT THAT STEALS AND GRIFTS FROM ITS CITIZENRY. Okay. I needed to clear that up. Because a government repair kit is looking rather nice lately. Just under 600 hemp ropes would be stellar. Thank you. Discord can use these measures. I'll use a mask. AI can't tell if im living or not. Come on folks. There are so many ways to work around their overreach. But whats cool about this is that deranged adult chats with nefarious individuals will no longer be able to target children. Yep that's right. Children will no longer be permitted in the cesspool of life. Gotta protect them. Full circle. It's my job not the government's. I don't trust the government to walk with their best foot forward let alone trust them with my children. They'd be safer swimming with Great Whites.

Okay. Welcome to the forums! I suggest collecting every berry bush, seed, cattail or papyrus root you come across and bring it back to base. Every single one you find. Make base around water. MAKE SURE ITS FRESH. Early game you'll need a stone hoe to figure this out and a seed you'll experiment with. Hoe the ground adjacent to a water block and plant your seed. if it stays healthy you've got freshwater, if it gets poisoned it'll be because of salt water. A bucket makes this much easier but you won't likely have one early game (just bucket some water and use your cursor over the bucket to see what water it contains if you do have a bucket). One last thing, try if you may to pick a region or biome that is heavy with rainfall. Watering cans are not needed if you chose your base build area wisely. DONT TILL LOW FERTILITY DIRT. There's a plethora of medium fertility soil in the game so do make sure to collect stacks of medium Fert dirt to create your gardens with. Food is the foundation of your survival experience. Treat it as such and the game will pave roads for you. Enjoy! EDIT Don't be afraid to join a server. I know our server loves helping out noobs. Many people out there will be glad to help im certain of it. I got 400 plus hours in my single player world before joining a multiplayer server and now ive got 1000 hours easy into the server and it's a ton of fun for sure.

Bad basement wine. How dare you help survival in a badlands stretch of nothing. Like that? Jokes aside. You aren't wrong. But isn't there no satiety from wine?

I couldn't agree more. It's a very intensive thing to make in game and then all you can do is drink it and not type properly? (edit: yes, I overlooked bandages as honey sulfur bandages seem far easier to make) Come on. Now I will add this. As it IS just a game. Im developing a bit of a Parkour course with the use of gliders and a 3 liter jug of Aqua Vitae with nothing else. The winner can have the esteem of completing the course with their life. XD (edit; I might not take being a seraph seriously enough)

This is what is really cool about this community. Some are widely based in the truth.

Very well said indeed. All of it.

Intro had some suggestions for me that will allow a workaround for the time being so don't stress it buddy. if you can just regenerate the story locations and I can take players in groups to facilitate lore gathering and the like. I feel it adds a lot the game. And im still a big fan of stuff like this because it adds to the rift aspect of the torn world we seraphs exist in. We can also have a week where people that want run solo can do so. I actually got a lot more of the story figured out when someone else wasn't rushing through. Anyways, I love the server and it's good to see more faces joining and sticking around. https://discord.gg/emsMuQyA here's my discord invite for anybody reading (continue scrolling down for the current link)

Welcome to the forums You aren't alone! It's tough when you are first starting hands down difficult. Don't give up! Ive had similar occurrences and early game it really hits home hard. Adapt and overcome, embrace the suck, you'll be glad you did. Have a stack of packed dirt and some spears. When you're within range, tower up and unload. Be wise and get them to run away. The timer for gear is thirty minutes I think. If you're worried about dying again right away then place a star or another marker on the map over your gravestone. Yes its horrible when you loose your things because of mishaps such as this but the bright side is that you came back from death. Okay. Hope this helps somehow someway somewhere.

Where did you get that quote from and how did you know its was so correct? huh? huh? LOL

Oh I do understand it's everywhere. And it's even made easier with a scythe. And I could be immensely wrong too but I'll say that ive got several hundred hours between two worlds and this is largely an opinion of mine. If you're having fun playing then do you cause this game is AWESOME.

Don't you mean the resource robbing wonders of one of the most resource rich blocks crafted in the game? My opinion XD On a serious note, make sure to collect all the stone you find laying around the ground and then the first clay you find you'll be able to craft cobble, a much easier craftable block in my opinion. I drew this conclusion after cutting dry grass for everything. You'll want to save all your dry grass early game for pit kilns. At least that's how my experiences so far have come along. Mud brick looks awesome lining roads and walkways and is a killer looking block later game but every time ive crafted it ill tell you that the dry grass sure disappears rapidly. To the original post, great job and do mind the comments about adding more light. I skipped over crude doors honestly and just used dirt blocks. That's my pro tip. Pay attention to your spoil rates concerning containers and the idea concerning a container in the ground with a block above it is spot on excellent advice. *Sidenote and Edit: Welcome to the forums. Looks like there's a lot of new faces on this thread. Enjoy guys. You can find me in the multiplayer thread if you all are ever looking for a server to join. Take care and Great Luck!*

Use control and the number pad to select your bag slot. 1-4 respectively. So much easier this way imo.

So I discovered Vintage Story watching YouTube videos on MC with my children. My youngest boy pointed it out to me. So we watched some videos on it and later I purchased it. I am playing with a track pad. Just figuring out to pick berries let alone eat them when I first started was difficult to say the least. But then finding more food as I tried to progress and I was already starving when I started. It was difficult in the survival simulation world. And ive only tried the one time. Maybe I should repay it a visit. I do hear you well concerning the Blackguard. When im wearing plate armor my hunger rate reaches 247%. I consume red meat and cabbage stew, rice and pineapple porridge, cured meats and peanuts non stop. Save the hooch for bandages (well aqua vitae does make for rather interesting glider challenges) and then pick at fruits and berries and have occasional pies (blueberry, those bears can eat dirt). I also lucked out and succeeded in Bleu Cheese. Bleu Cheese with Sunflower bread is just so damned good ill arm wrestle other seraphs for it! So I have found a marvelous method of keeping my griping belly from grumbling non stop. True Story.

I cannot tell you why I thought to try and pet him, as ive not tried to pet anything. My bighorn beat me up every time I milk them.

.....taken to shake the stress from myself in a game that actually is enjoyable and satisfying. Lets all take a moment to stop and pet the Charlamenge. (maybe I butchered the spelling, thought I was closer to the cave of caves.)

Its a long thread I didn't read through everything though im sure everyone has valid points and useful tips and such. I encourage just hunkering down and fighting off all the wolves and bears and struggle with the struggle to fully immerse yourself in a survival experience unlike any other that I have experienced. I truly think it really helps with the overall feel of the game. It does get easier. It does have many rewards. My first single player world, okay second, I made a dirt hut beside a trader. And wouldn't you know that I was killed by wolves? And not only that wouldn't you know that I came back to get my flint tools and my cattail roots and the damned wolves had taken up residence in my dirt hut! No good deed unpunished. I shacked up with the trader I started my build by and I died over and over until I departed those damned wolves of my hard earned keep! It is a benefit to being a seraph after all. Being a human having one life must get fairly mundane im sure but we have it good! So anyways, stick it through. Oh! My first world was a survival world. I couldn't feed myself. I died over and over and over and couldn't feed myself. I wanted to rage quit so bad. I deleted that world and started a standard game and I still have that single player with about 500 hours and I just got into iron and such. Now im on a server suited out in steel and night vision goggles and the reward is world building. At least in my eyes. Enjoy. Its a load of fun! *If it matters, I am SPIIKEANON and I play on Vintage Armisteros We welcome you to our server. You can play it safe in our walls of TerraCaelum and enjoy the safety of civilization blossoming.*
