Great news for me because i don't even have any tin besides 11 i found in a pot!) i also felt proud for actually using my brain and thinking about where this vein was! 15~ hour mark on my first-ish playthrough!!!!!! 4 1 4

I was stuck for iron, couldn't find it anywhere. There was a few very minor hits with the prospecting pick, but multiple boreholes going below Y50 yielded nothing. I thought, f*ck it, I've got a translocator nearby maybe that will take me where I can find some. Take me there it did, as literally the first wall I saw when translocating into place was an entire iron vein, a bountiful iron vein at that. So yeah, sometimes you just need lady* luck on your side. 3

Nah, the thing you have to be watching for now is where the "catch" is. That is, the drifter ambush underground, or the bear in the bushes on the way home, etc. Sometimes there's not, but there's usually a sneaky little detail or two to overcome to actually get the prize back to your base. 1

I once found a cave with 3 different deposits of iron, not one deposit since all three were different quality. Added bonus that the deposit was less than 1,000 blocks away. I think about 400. 3

The devs need to step in and nerf the over powered feature called "Mint Comet" We should make a union and demand that Mint Comet get 200 lines of horrible nonsense bad luck hard coded deep into the vintage story roots! The screenshots!! My eyes!! This is unacceptable! Here I am running away from 2 bears, that leads me screaming towards 3 wolfs! Then I fall into my own made 5x5 death pit I made and forgot! Nah mate! Don't do me like this! Imagine if he public made those pictures on other media places! Think of what the innocent people think "This look like a easy game, just look at him!" Bees <50 blocks from your home... but it's way high up in a pine tree and you won't hear it. hopefully you looked up. Bauxite close to home? GREAT! limestone is a 3 week run one way.

Also all your iron will be Hematite in poor readings and the deposit will actually be 2 chunks away from your best reading. because this totally didn't happen to me in my last playthrough after striking it rich on copper and tin..... I love this game!

Borax. It happened to me in 1.20. I started a new world to play the story from start to finish and see how the pacing was, and got incredibly lucky with a surface tin deposit near my spawn. So I had bronze in the time it usually takes me to get to copper. Iron also proved easy enough to get, but I wanted steel before starting the story as I wasn't sure what I was getting into. And then the trouble started. I think I did eventually find borax thousands of blocks to the northwest, but then I was still missing bauxite, so eventually I just gave up and started chapter two, hoping to find what I was after along the way(which I did).
