@Streetwind first of all: it's very rare to see such a deep complex answer. I like it very much whether or not you like the new longblade. I fully understand your opinions including your preference (spear). Your complex answer motivated me to try longbow/shield combo once more. However I doubt I'll love it. I can truly accept some lack of previous comfortability for more realistic combat behaviour. Although I think I'll definitely prefer some improvement concerning longbow aiming/speed. Or improvement concerning longbow hit power. Another point of view: if I use steel axe for combat the result is near the same. Thats definitely bad ! Longbow should have much more usability for combat than axe.

Combat changes in 1.16 impressions and sugestions
DrEngine replied to Laskuna's topic in Suggestions
I totally agree: the changes in 1.16 (even in 1.16.1 +25% longblade speed/...) makes sword combat unusable. When using any axe the result is tha same. And problem with inventory capacity. Shield, spear, etc etc... very bad... -
The new version 1.16 has a lot of interesting stuff. However the nerfing of longblade is frustrating still (even after 1.16.1 tweaking). The main problem is speed of hitting. It's still slow and player can't aim and hit precisely so many of hits are missed (drifters and wolves are moving quickly). When I started to play VS and I first met wolf it was very frustrating - wolf killed me in few seconds. This repeated many times. Only after reaching iron/steel period I was able to produce strong longblade (steel) and better armor (iron). Then I was able to face wolf and win. The key was facing the wolf and hitting as quick as possible. After some time and experience I was able to meet more wolves at once and face them without fear and with high probability of success. 1.16 version longblade nerfing totally changed this. Now it's frustrating experience again even with iron armor and steel longblade. The biggest problem is hitting speed (slow). It has a tremendous influence on success. I think the settings is very bad because if I use simple bismuth-bronze axe the result is the same. Thats definitely wrong. I don't know what was the reason the developers to implement such a huge change. I'd like to get back or at least to have some parameters in game settings to change longblade hitting speed.

the sword speed REALLY deserves some raising otherways it's unusable...

"You can still player your old 1.15 worlds with 1.16. Only two things are not backwards compatible - liquids stored in buckets and barrels will be lost" Ok, but how to keep the content of my barrels ???

Farming turns to be more complicated after last major update. Our normally functioning farm doesn't work anymore. Mostly because of high temperature (berries don't grow, most of the vegatables/cereals have temeprature problem and they turn dry/dead. I'm looking for most suitable place to found new farm. Do you have any ideas/tips/tricks to find the best place for farming with least limitations concerning temperature etc... ???

Nobody? Ok, the only solution I have found is to split whole claim to several pieces and add them to claim one by one ("/land claim add"). Frustrating and tedious job...
-
I try to claim land as admin and admins m3 limit from serverconfig doesn't work. I've tried to claim area 1350 x 1100 with height 200. I mark area with start/end command, add it and save claim. But it results only claim 294 x 267 height 200 located by "end" corner of marked area. 1350x100x200 = 297 000 000, that is way less than admins claim limit 2 147 483 647 (serverconfig.json). What am I doing wrong ????

Repaired Static Translocator not working as intended?
DrEngine replied to Trifle's topic in Bugs (archived)
This is a bug. It's always translocator on the other side. -
How to delete "cave art" i.e. paintings made by chalk, coal, ... ??? Destroying of block doesn't work - painting reappear after replacing block.

It's not of course. Its a minor thing that could bring some confusion sometimes. Yes, it's graphically better than old icons but it could be designed more different

I have finally installed 1.15.x version. How do you like new inventory icons of some materials? - Salt/Lime/Powder/Borax/Saltpeter/Mortar/Bonemeal/... look all the same. Very bad to recognize what is what. Looks the same only different color. Very, very bad. - Lump of Fat icon looks very weird; the old one was much better IMO - some other are different but at least they looks like they should (clays, cattails, wax, flint, flax/twine); but is it necessary to change them and force player to learn new icons???

Erm... We don't play several days on our server often. With 1 real day = 1 game month it is not good option to use. 1 real hour of playing means 1 game day. Thats ok. I'd like to have: 1 real day of NO player on server = 1 game day. That would be perfect.

Hi, is it possible to set VS server to slowly progress world time without any players online ?
-
If I remember right this didn't work for me too. But dark void disappeared after long time. So good luck...

It's some bug. You can correct it with console command. I don't remember it but it can be found here in forum... EDIT: try ".debug rc"

Do we have to start a new Map after an major update?
DrEngine replied to Gottimperator HeyYa19's topic in Questions
1. I's not necessary to start new map with major update. New features will be added to new generated parts of world. 2. I've got reassurement from dev team that terrain gen will NOT be changed so we'll not get such strange terrain glitch when updating game version like for example in Minecraft (where terrain gen change caused new and old terrain donn't fit). -
I haven't seen any food nerfing in last year or so. It depends on your map position. You can find a lot of berries for example in forests. There are places where are no berries at all. VS isn't an easy game...

World edit - copy/paste doesn't work at all...
DrEngine replied to DrEngine's topic in Bugs (archived)
The solution is to delete target area first "/we mdelete". Paste works then. -
There are a lot caves inside mountains. Just find huge tall mountains (with iced top) and they'll probably have some cave inside. I've found many caves inside mountains (30 or more).

I've tried several hours to use copy/paste but the result is horrible: - necessary to mark "paste to" position by "/we ms" otherways it pastes on the original position (why ??? why it doesn't get my actual player position to paste ???) - paste places only part of the copied blocks, no the whole copied "cube", why ??? is it buggy ? - a lot of exceptions; necessary to change paste position a little bit or remove some blocks like torches to avoid exception, I don't know why= weird behaviour Finally it's absolutly impossible to use it. Any hint? Help? Tip/trick?

I've tested water wheel connected to quern . 1 iron repair kit adds 29% of durability. It is enough to grind 11 stacks. New waterwheel (100% durabilty) can grind about 36 stacks. I think its very very low productivity if producing one water wheel needs 32 iron ingots, 2 brass and 6 steel ingots (overshot variant). My hammer powered by waterwheel (the same overshot variant as above) was in use many months (I turn if on only for forging) and it has 56% still. It's weird !!! Does use for hammering have differenr durability effect than usage for quern ???
